That was not a press conference. That was a farce. 24 hours ago we had the collected, calm tones of Obama giving his final speech, which he did with grace, and humility, looking every inch of the image we expect from the President of the USA.

Today we have the wild-circus of the Trump News Conference, blabbering, talking in circles, gas lighting, nonsense and an attack on the news media and intelligence offices that just served to make the POTUS-Elect look more guilty.

The Trump-Era is going to be one long interesting times.

Love it!

You'd be saying that even if he'd been slinging back shots of tequila, trying to take swings at reporters he didn't like and throwing up everywhere. So who cares.

26 ( +31 / -5 )

A man-child sitting in the seat that sends real grown-ups grey with the weight of responsibiity.

If he doesn't start a new war and/or destroy the global economy in his four years, I'll consider his presidency to be a roaring success.

19 ( +25 / -6 )

Finally a president that doesn't suck up to the media!

Frighteningly a president who's been a bully all his life and will soon have the access code to the red button and who now wants to control the media. Say what you will about media, but it's pretty scary when rightwing extremists want to see the media quashed.

I have to think people who want to 'shut up' the media are either incapable of thinking critically and independently about what's been reported, or perhaps want to have a 1984 type government controlled media.

Russia has a media largely controlled by the state. Many US rightwing extremists see Putin (a man reported to have his own global media empire ala Murdoch) as a hero. I have to think they want to see Trump become another Putin. That fits the zeitgeist. He can join Xi, Duterte, Erdogan, the Al Sauds, Netanyahu, Kim and others in this era of demagogues and dictators.

15 ( +24 / -9 )

Trump can't deal with criticism, so he attacks people's core natures or core identities rather than defining which actions specifically he objects to. The thin-skinned bully is getting in over his head and we'll only see these kinds of failed press conferences more and more.

Trump also can't deal with the press discussing actual wrong-doing he's been involved in (like his potential to be compromised by the Russian government), so he goes back to his old, predictable standby- insulting someone in an outrageous manner to get the press focused on that rather than on investigating his quantifiable wrong-doing.

14 ( +25 / -11 )

Anytime anything negative gets revealed about Trump - and I'm guessing it will be multiple times - he and his team will indignantly, if not hysterically, claim it is "fake news". It is the new get out of jail card. Just go on the angry rampage, claim it is a media conspiracy and it is all fake news created to make him look bad. The litmus test for real fake news is to ask does it make Trump look good. If the answer is yes, then it's fake news.

klausdorthJAN. 12, 2017 - 08:11AM JST

Press conference? It was a circus with one "wanna-be-main-actor".

Yep - yell, throw insults and hissy fits, accuse them all of lying and get into shouting matches. That'll really get the media to stop saying mean things about him and show some respect.

13 ( +17 / -4 )

after the 20th, we will be thrown a rope and a lifeline LOL so a billionaire who has surrounded himself in bankers, wall street the elite establishment!. the only lifeline you'll get are the crumbs left on the table that they brush your way.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

And I hope they stay there indefinitely.

Because....you say so?

CNN is fake news in this case.

Maybe you don't know what 'fake' means. Fake news is when someone makes up a story without any facts behind the story. It doesn't mean reporting on things that are being discussed, but are unverified. If the facts are unverified, but it's stated as such in the article, it's a real news article. Nothing fake about it.

12 ( +15 / -3 )

@BassforFunk

You are way off base. Trump simply has no class. Furthermore, the man can't speak English. Let me point out that Freudian Slip when he confused country with company. Go back and see for yourself if you like.

You simply don't get it even with all your negative markdowns. You aren't fooling anybody here. You'll say anything to get attention just like that hateful cheeto who speaks like he's still on the campaign trail. One does not need to bash his opponents after he's won. Trump knows he'll never come close to defeating Obama's legacy and neither will you in your comments.

Oh, Trump's administration might change a few policies. They might rebrand a few things. But the real Legacy cannot be defeated. It's in the hearts and minds of American people. You can't pierce that. You wish Obama had a scandal or something you could use as fodder but you don't. Trump on the other hand........yeah, he's creating jobs, for comedians and investigative reporters. They will comb his chocolate starfish with a microscope.

So you keep on betting on the Orange Cheeto. If O.J Simpson was a discredit to the African-American race, then I would respond that Trump is yours. It would be in your best interest to select someone with more class.

The truth is going to come out. It all comes back in the end. No one really doubts the report of Russian hookers and golden showers from a man who said: "Grab em by the pussy". Hope you are still around when the article "Impeachment" comes out.

Your boy Chump...ooops I mean Trump made too many enemies even in the GOP. The Political Arena is just as bad as Hollywood. People stab others in the back. I'm not surprised he appointed family around him. Watch, you'll see. When those GOP members are secure that they have the Presidency Trump will get a real taste of politics. Impeachment.

It's the patient knife that can't be blocked.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Mexico will pay for the wall

Is it ethical to make somebody else pay for what you decide to build?

This fits with Trump's history of not paying people for goods and services provided, knowing that if they sue they won't win against Trump's legal team. Trump is the Ugly American.

11 ( +17 / -6 )

@Simon claim it is "fake news"

Exactly. You can tell Trump's true believers by their collective use of terms like fake news, MSM, witch hunt, the elites, among others. Rather than question their political messiah, they react against anyone they think is questioning him and respond with rightwing party line memes. They don't seem to be the least concerned about facts and truth; but that fits this era, doesn't it.

Personally I'd like to know the TRUTH about Russian hacking. The fact that Trump now admits it happened makes me want to know more about Trump's connection to Russia, Putin and the Russian oligarchs.

Why won't Trump release info on his global business dealings?

11 ( +15 / -4 )

@bass

11 ( +15 / -4 )

is it ethical to make somebody else pay for what you decide to build?

Ethical? We don't need no stinkin' ethics! Apparently, Trumps plan is to tax the money poor, hardworking immigrants remit to their poorer families back in Mexico. Also, he plans to deport all of these immigrants, meaning they'll be no more remittances.

He apparently hasn't thought this through.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

lambasting the media for peddling “fake news”

Trump: Don't print anything about me that hasn't been verified!!!!

though journalists were not able to view and independently verify the materials.

Trump: Print what I say without verifying!!!!!

10 ( +14 / -4 )

Finally a president that doesn't suck up to the media!

Unless it's RussiaToday.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

@blabel From the original CNN article:

Thank you for pointing out how any article can be analyzed to determine its relative veracity. That's a point I've tried to make: allow individuals to decide for themselves how to interpret and understand anything reported by the media. People who feel 'victimized' by media, in my opinion, might want to be seen as victims. Or might have other agendas. As always, there's a range of possible explanations why they would think media, corporate or otherwise, cannot be trusted.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

In fact the more I see him and listen to his ridiculous pronouncements and think about it, Trump is proof that Bin Laden has all but won. Even the way Trump holds up his finger when pontificating about something is the same.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

So what happens in terms of foreign relations in the world of trumpy? If someone disagrees with a plan is he going to yell at them and tell them they are stupid? If he attends g-7 or g-8 summits,is he going to belittle leaders of other nations?

WWIII could be near!

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Soooooo is he going to do anything about Russia?

9 ( +14 / -5 )

He has got to be stopped now before it is too late.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

Trump is American but his mind seems Russian. It makes a sense.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Trump's admitting that he thinks it was probably the Russians behind the hacking is going to cause a bit of dilemma for his supporters. They've been claiming no evidence exists that the Russians were behind the hacking, but now after he has seen the evidence, he is admitting that it was probably the Russians. So now his supporters are in the uncomfortable position of having vehemently defended his previous statements, but now being abandoned by him due to his change in stance. But it seems some posters are sticking with their original tack anyways:

No proof has been provided to show Russia was behind it. That doesn't mean that Russia wasn't behind it, just that there isn't any proof, just circumstantial evidence.

How do you know, have you seen the evidence that exists? Were you part of Trump's briefing? He saw the information and has admitted it was probably Russia - is he lying? Do you doubt him?

The evidence doesn't meet the US legal standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt", IMHO.

Neither does the 'evidence' that was used at Guantanamo, and yet the Republicans imprisoned a whole lot of people there, that are still there. And as there will be no prosecution of the Russians, that legal standard does not have so much relevance anymore.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

He'll admit the minimum amount necessary to diffuse the issue and allow it to wither away in the news cycle. Smart move.

Burning bush, he does not have that luxury. What amazed me most about that "press conference" was not the complete lack of detail he provided (seriously - could you find any?) but that he truly seems to believe in his own hype. That's what happens when narcissists surround themselves with sycophants.

Wise would have been to engender cooperation, if not with the Dems, than at least with his own party. Instead, he insulted - and insulted people with potential to do him great harm. He insulted American intelligence services. He personally insulted Lindsey Graham with his "1%" remark, referring to Graham's failed presidential bid - and in doing so, he insulted all senior GOP members of the Senate. Now, Americans may have not been keen on Graham as a president, but he's very popular both in his state of South Carolina and among his colleagues; he's also very influential and can wield great power.

Which he likely will. There was only a slender chance that an extended hand would have circumvented Congressional investigation into Russia's hacking and how Putin may have compromised Trump's presidency, but that will not happen now. Trump has very few friends left in Washington, but he has many enemies, most of them new and thus bristling.

This issue will not be diffused.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

So the 2008 financial crash completely slipped your mind. That the two bungling Democratic idiots Barney Frank and Chris Dodd caused, No it didn't.

Those two "bungling idiots" for whom the bill is named, was signed into law in 2010, so I'd be curious to hear how they caused the housing crisis.

Have we learned a lesson? Obviously not, because the response from Congress was to pass a new law (Dodd-Frank) that was supposed to deal with the problems caused by the previous laws. Wallison details the ways in which Dodd-Frank both fails to cure the underlying problems and creates new ones in his book Bad History, Worse Policy.

Again, curious what you think the cause was? Folks getting loans they should not have qualified for? Sure, I don't disagree. That did happen, but banks were more than willing to lend them money. Why? Morale hazard. Greedy banks were able to package these garbage loans into MBSs and sell them to other investors as A, A+ rated securities, despite the fact that the packaged securities were junk. The crisis had nothing to do with over-regulation. That's nonsense.

Bass (et al)

Fall? We have already been in the canyon for a long time, after the 20th, we will be thrown a rope and a lifeline

Serious questions:

1) What precisely would a "great" America look like to you personally? In other words, what criteria would America have to meet to be considered "rising," as opposed to "falling"?

2) In your opinion, when exactly was America last "great"?

Again, serious questions that I don't think I've ever really asked you before. I'm honestly not trying to be my usual snarky self here.

BTW, these questions are open to anyone here who feels America has somehow diminished, necessitating someone like Trump to fix things. I'm genuinely trying to understand where your impression of our country and my impression (which is that it's still a pretty damned amazing thing, politically, socially, and culturally) so starkly diverge.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

so what are the facts behind the whole Trump in Russia thing?

Give me a link to a particular CNN story you are calling fake, and I'll point out exactly what the facts are behind it, and why it's not fake.

So you are saying CNN is ok cause they are just reporting that there was an unverified report?

I'm saying that reporting on people discussing an unverified report is not 'fake news'. The unverified report is real. If they are reporting it as unverified, it's news.

So if someone tells me that you have a criminal background with no proof, I can then go to your work and tell them that it is being discussed by others that you are a criminal?

It wouldn't be fake news if you did so.

Come on, thats made up, and fake news.

Nope, it's real news on an unverified report.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

@pointv The news CNN and Buzz reported was trash.

Can you PROVE that? Or is that just your way of saying you disagreed with what was reported.

@blackl Any proof that any of this happened?

Free media report in the style they want. They can't legally slander or libel. They are at risk of legal challenges. If they report 'fake news' i.e. a made up story, and are found out, then they'll lose credibility and readers, and 'the market will decide' principle spouted by free market capitalists should come into effect. Or do you want government to determine what can be printed and said.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Democratic senators asked Comey yesterday if the FBI was investigating Trump over his Russia ties, and Comey replied, "I would never comment on investigations — whether we have one or not — in an open forum like this, so I really can't answer one way or another."

Ha ha ha! - Unless it's Hillary Clinton.

"2) In your opinion, when exactly was America last "great"?"

"Before Obama came to office, it wasn't exactly great, but it sure wasn't a hellhole, except for the war which was."

So the 2008 financial crash completely slipped your mind. Is Fox News putting it about that it happened on Obama's watch?

If Trump wants to show he isn't tied to Russia, then responding to the hacking would be a good start. But he isn't doing that.

One thing I noticed was that, when commenting about car makers moving to Mexico, he seemed to say they can move a plant to anywhere else as long as it's in America... so moving a plant from, say Detroit to, I dunno, Alabama is okay, make those workers redundant, but Mexico? Noooo...

The man is a class A loon... his petulant outbursts about Russia respecting America, MAKING Russia respect America is a worry. Actually he's starting to sound a bit like NK's Little Kim at times.

SimondBJAN. 12, 2017 - 08:05AM JST Anytime anything negative gets revealed about Trump - and I'm guessing it will be multiple times - he and his team will indignantly, if not hysterically, claim it is "fake news". It is the new get out of jail card.

It will only be a get out of jail card if we let it be.

Trump and his alt-right trolls have demonstrated a long history of trying to re-use language used to criticise them against their own critics, usually demonstrating in the process they have no concept of what the language actually means. Trump's supporters trolled us with news that can be definitively known to be fake because it can traced back to a non-researched source (for example a Russian propaganda magazine or a Macedonian teenager's basement computer.) This isn't the case with the intelligence leaks. Trump and his followers are counting on being able to use words like "fake news" to deflect criticism, but that will only work if people allow those words to deflect. If we insist words have meaning and aren't just magic spells to get your way, they lose their power to manipulate.

unusual sexual activities by Trump

Not surprising. His, and all Rubes', perverted sexual obsession with Putin is extremely disturbing and tells you all you need to about these antisocial and dangerous types. What a fall by America we are witnessing

7 ( +10 / -3 )

@blacklabel 1.hostile, dishonest media - 2.CNN is fake news - 3.As the media, If you cant prove it, you cant say it.

The first two memes are regularly used by rightists. The third one is pretty concerning. Are you honestly suggesting that if something cannot be proved (a word used in many ways these days and meaning different things to different speakers) you can't say it? You can't mean 'prove' in some mathematical way, can you?

Please tell, what then is media allowed to 'say'. Facts can be and are selectively used; 'truth' can be and is selectively arrived at. If there can be such a thing as free media, i.e. media unconstrained by government, I as an individual want to be allowed to read a variety of sources and determine for myself how to interpret how and why an event happened and what the effects of that event might be. I don't expect media to 'prove' anything to me. The 'truth' of what was reported is up to me to decide for myself how true it might or might not be.

I'm afraid of a Russian type state controlled media. I have always questioned what corporate media reports and always will, but have zero desire to see them have to 'prove' everything they say.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The left wingers on here believe that lying and fabricating news about people is okay.

Nope. I've seen the right wingers do it lots though.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Theres no proof at all and nothing verified. Shouldnt be printed until it is.

Doesnt matter if its left or right. If its not backed up or true it shouldnt be reported as such.

To be honest, I'm inclined to agree with you about neither side doing this, but in this day and age of everyone demanding instant news now, it's not likely to change. But I think that back in the day where news was verified before it was reported, it was better for us all.

That all said, it's a different issue than whether the news is fake or not. The right is so often crying 'fake news', when what they mean is 'unverified news'.

It doesn't matter what Trump says or does, the Hillary supporters will repeatedly attack him. If Trump defends himself from those attacks, the Hillary supporters will attack him for that.

I think few of us are Hillary supporters. We are left-wingers. She's gone, the story of yesterday, she lost, he won. But that doesn't mean that we aren't going to attack Trump on the things he says, or the policies he implements. And if you think that's unfair, then maybe you should take a look at how Obama has been treated for the past eight years.

basically you guys are saying CNN cant make up a story. But if someone else makes up a story, then you can report that there is a made up story, say you have no way to verify if it is true, but just publish it as news?

I'm saying that if CNN reports on an unverified story, it's a real story of an unverified report. It's not 'fake news' as the right so often wants to claim these days.

Trump and his team are aiming to tip world climate so they can profit from the ensuing chaos. its an easy task now since nothing effective was done for 30 years. oh an why was that again? Oh, mostly because, oil companies, above all Excon-Mobil have thrown huge sums into disinformation campaigns and lobbying against climate action (#exxonknew #exxondid). And with a true excon boy (40 years at the company) at sec of state it should be a sinch. Collaborate with Russia to drill the arctic, gut the Paris agreement one way or another...

And he may accidently start world war 3. but we all knew that.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Trump's control of the press and media is sounding a lot like how China handles censorship. It's a path that I really worry about. Trump may be just a bully now, but once he's in power, he'll be a dictator; a dictator with total control over the press and weapons of mass destruction.

Also, if he plans to deport all immigrants (he unfortunately doesn't realize that he's actually married to one), then why don't he start with doing so with the illegal ones he hired to build his Trump Tower? The ones who he paid little to no money to. Or, why doesn't he deport the several girls he used in his modeling agency?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Seems like Trump is the tin-foil hat brigade's dream guy. Are there any conspiracy wing nuts out there who don't think so? Or that he is somehow a stooge for some deep power known only to them? It's hard to keep up with, as are the intellectual contortions they have to make to keep supporting this buffoon. God, this is really exposing the American education system's poverty in teaching logic and reason. It's like the country has become a reflection of the Middle East it so despises (as judged by its stupid interventions) and all that region's conspiracy believers. It's getting scary now, and Trump has not even taken office. 6 months of this guy and we are doomed, with the enlightenment and civilisation in ruins. It'll be like the Middle Ages have returned.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

“I am not going to give you a question,” Trump said, ignoring Acosta’s requests. “You are fake news.”

The man is a child, and a bigot to boot, not to mention a coward who can't answer questions. I'm surprised he even showed up for this, given his propensity to hid in his room and Twitter all night. The man has already promised to renege on his election pledges, will go against the Constitution (something the right actually makes up that Obama did, while defending the FACT that Trump is going to!). What a cry-baby!

bass4funk: "Dude, what is your obsession with FNC? LOL But 47% of the National Debt was caused on Obama's watch, I didn't forget that as well."

It was already in debt when he started there, put into the biggest debt in history by his predecessor. Now, and don't forget this bass because you all know you will want to in a couple of weeks, the party that has been crying about debt and saying the first thing the US needs to do is get out of debt, has approved TRILLIONS in more spending, under Ryan, for Republican interests, including more than a Trillion to START looking into an alternative to Obamacare, which they claim to be repealing in part to 'save money'. Suddenly the party of 'no' has no qualms about increasing the deficit exponentially. Even other GOP members are against the legislature the House and Trump wants to ram through for "The Wall" and what not. But like I said, bass, don't forget right now you are crying about being put into more debt, and don't deny you were doing so later.

"If they would stop reading that junk we wouldn't be dealing with this nonsense now."

You're right, bass... they should reading that garbage you claim is gospel from...what is it you always 'borrow' exact passages from? The National Enquirer? The National... I can't remember the name, but I remember laughing at the top ten list of things Obama did that went against the Constitution that was outright lies. You must be pretty upset Megan is leaving FOX for the MSM you complain about.

In any case, Trump's now admitting what he clearly lied about in terms of Russia, and it's funny to know they have a LOT of dirt on him that he's utterly petrified of them revealing. Well, funny in a very sad way, because it helps ensure the lies he's told about not being in debt or having vested interests in Russia means he will kow-tow to their every demand, as he has been so far.

@bass

Dodd-Frank imposes huge new regulatory costs, while sending this message to the financial industry: don’t take risks. Banks have had to substitute compliance officers for lending officers. As a result ....

I think even journalists are supposed to cite their sources. You lifted an entire section from an opinion piece in Forbes and pretend it's yours. Is this the new journalism?

Some things I got from the 'press conference':

I don't remember past presidents inviting supporters to whoop and clap for them during the Q and A. Trump obviously can't handle groups of people unless they kiss his derrière and make him look like a hero. Despite what some of his fans on this thread think, this is not a refreshing or honest way to communicate with the public.

Why did Trump taunt Lindsey Graham for not being in the 1%? Is This what Donny thinks of the rest of us? Say it ain't so!

Breitbart gets the only reserved seat. Right down front. Nerf ball question. This is what Trump likes. Makes him feel like a real president, not a make-believe one.

If Trump wants to announce how he's separating himself from the business his sons Uday and Qusay . . . I mean Eric and Don Jr. . . . are taking over, why were the boys standing in the wings? And why were the journalists not allowed to look inside the stacks of manila envelopes containing the details of his divestments? Were these just props?

And hey, Donny, if you thought your questions about Obama's citizenship were worth pursuing for 5 years despite having no evidence, you have no right to silence questions about your purported penchant for degrading Russian prostitutes. Which, given your past actions, surely are the stuff of pure fake news fiction.

Are you saying the 2008 financial crash was caused by two Democratic politicians? Did you get this information from the same place as the news that the stock market only recovered after news of Trump's victory?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Word. There is a thing formerly known as etiquette at press conferences. The person at the podium will indicate whose turn it is to ask a question.

Trump has determined he will deal with who he wants to deal with, thereby essentially doing the same thing at the Japanese government, in only allowing journalists to ask questions if they ask questions that are allowed. Better than a dictatorship that controls the news, but only just barely. If CNN sits back and waits to be called on, they will never be called on.

This is no different than people talking about how Japanese workers should stand up against their companies when forced to do overtime. Sometimes you need to stand up for yourself. CNN did the right thing in standing up for themselves. Trump's stance of not calling upon news organizations that he doesn't like is not reasonable, and not how a president should be conducting himself. If the people don't stand up to this, they are sheep, and they are allowing him to do what dictators do.

This again has nothing to do with political lines. The people who want to make it so are the ones being unreasonable. Trump determining which news organizations are allowed to report and which aren't should be troubling no matter what your party affiliation.

The way Acosta acted during and after the press conference was unprofessional. The President Trump administration needs to withdraw its press credentials

Asking critical questions is unprofessional. Get that CNN man off my ship! He offends my sensibilities!

The spirit of a free society indeed.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

President is not only role model but also entertainment for Americans. Trump will be forced to answer some uncomfortable questions he does not want to hear. He will be clown in news, SNL and cartoons. It is the way of free and fun loving society. It is part of his job as public figure. How dare Trump tell CNN as your organization is terrible! CNN does not need not to shut up for pleasing Trump and his associates.

CNN and NYT are pride of the land of free, proud and brave which have kicked out Richar Nixon who was the sitting president with watergate affair. It is the beauty of free, honest and transparent media.

POTUS is not Roman emperor who can feed journalists to Lions and Tigers! CNN is more transparent and cleaner than Trump inc. If Someone can not tolerate the heat, he or she should not enter the kitchen!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

"POTUS is not Roman emperor who can feed journalists to Lions and Tigers! CNN is more transparent and cleaner than Trump inc. If Someone can not tolerate the heat, he or she should not enter the kitchen!"

It's a lot simpler than that for me. Trump simply thinks that anyone or any news outlet that agrees with him are good and anyone who doesn't is bad. Meryl Streep not only went from a good to a bad person by disagreeing with him, she went from an "excellent" actress ( Trump's description ) to an "overrated" actress ( again, Trump's later description ).

I think it's more a case of a narcissistic brat rather than any deeper thoughts about press freedom, although his squealing childishness would like to see any criticism of him silenced.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Obviously fake news is wrong, and so is making things up about people. This is also everything that Trump engaged in while running for office.

A typical bully getting a taste of his own medicine. It's delicious. Trump looked haggard and almost demented in the conference he ain't going to last long health wise.

So it goes - an illegitimate president in a train wreck before even his inauguration. But at least he's had to admit Russia did the hacking and his supporters look like the morons they really are.

turbotsatJAN. 13, 2017 - 01:47AM JST Has this happened in an Obama press conference? A reporter repeatedly interrupting, demanding an answer even though he wasn't called?

No, it hasn't, because Obama's (and every previous president's) press conferences are organized. Trump couldn't even be bothered to plan out a press conference. He only reserved a seat for Breitbart. He didn't bother to make a list of reporters he would give questions to. Reporters were shouting for a chance to be heard not because they were rude, but because Trump didn't arrange the most basic of procedures to ensure they would be noticed any other way.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

What if Trump decides to do nothing about the Russian hack?

Yes, where did you get the news that the stock market only recovered after the news of a Trump victory? You've eliminated the Daily Kos as a candidate. Thank you. Many are discussing the integrity of news outlets and you could help by identifying the source of such outrageous drivel.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Strangerland:. Trump's admitting that he thinks it was probably the Russians behind the hacking is going to cause a bit of dilemma for his supporters.

Why? They have lots of options:

1) Admit they repeated talking points based on bluster and propaganda and Trump made them look like idiots.

2) Talk about Obama/Clinton/Democrats.

3) Never talk about it again.

The list is endless.

I caught the beginning of a conservative talk radio show before I had to leave my car. The host started with a rant saying that if you like dishonest media then you won't like his show. The lies by CNN yadda yadda yadda. My guess is that they will force that narrative as a way to talk around the whole Russia thing. Seeing the comments here makes me believe a lot of them are already on board.

In the end they are not required to answer for their naive talking points about Russia if they don't want to. And that's OK. Democrats will lead the response against Putin while they sit this one out.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

LOL, those folders are full of blank pages!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Then why was there no outcry last week when Obama passed a bill essentially mandating such a policy in the US?

I haven't seen the bill, but extremism is usually bad in either direction. Complete and utter control of the media is one extreme, which it appears we are in agreement is bad. But just because that is bad, does not mean that allowing anything and everything to be reported in the news is what must be done. That's why there are laws against defamation - people can't just kill someone's reputation with a fake story with no repercussions.

So while Russian style control of the media is a bad thing, that doesn't by default mean that complete and open media with no rules whatsoever is a good thing. It can be just as bad.

Russian Hack the material, Wrong, no evidence.

You cannot know if there was evidence or not, unless you are a member of the intelligence groups that have whatever evidence exists, or someone who received a briefing that outlines the intelligence that exists.

Obama received such briefings, and stated it was the Russians. Trump himself has received the briefing, and even he is saying he thinks it's Russia now. Blanket acceptance is never a good thing, but seeing these two people who obviously dislike each other, and obviously have entirely separate motivations, agreeing on the matter would be a fairly good indication that there is some compelling evidence to show that Russia indeed was behind the hacking.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

I think Hillary Clinton was running with the fake news term before it became a regularly used term. Not the right.

The term is a valid term - for fake news. But the right is using it as any news which they don't like, or is as of yet unverified, rather than using it when the news is actually fake.

learned the evil rich man somehow about to become president allegedly get's off degrading women by paying to pee on them.

I couldn't verify this anywhere, so I don't think it's true. But even if it is, who cares. It's like when Clinton got busted for his affair - what the president does in the bedroom should be as private as what the rest of us do in the bedroom.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

The sad part is that the USA and the media will have to listen to everything Trump says, when any sane person would have walked away long ago. There is literally nothing to hold him to account.

Glad to see CNN not backing down. Until Trump answers he will forever have something to answer for. He'll age 10x faster if the conference is anything to go by. He simply won't be around in 8 years from natural causes, which is a relief. But these 4 years are going to be brutal. Hang on

@

Strangerland,

Theres no proof at all and nothing verified. Shouldnt be printed until it is.

Doesnt matter if its left or right. If its not backed up or true it shouldnt be reported as such.

Sorry to be so blunt Strangerland but what you state is absolute cobblers. By your reasoning if it is not 100% true it cannot be investigated. That being the case we can say goodbye to investigative reporting. Watergate would never have been exposed as reporters were only working on what they were told. The police would not be able, under your reasoning, to release a press statement saying 'we are looking for suspect Billy Bonds who is armed and extremely dangerous and should not be approached". Because the police cannot say with 100% certainty that he is armed.

But the biggest flaw in your reasoning is that the reports were released with the rider that they (the reports) were unverified. And that was true. To take your logic to the extreme, weather forecasts should be banned as there is no proof that this will actually happen. Evangelist's and priest should be banned from making press statements about the Almighty's intentions for mankind. I could go on. And if I didn't have to trim some bushes I probably would. But no reporting without 100% rock solid evidence? Goodbye National Enquirer, Fox News and The Onion. Or perhaps we could have a set up where the government would verify or otherwise all news reports before they were released and hold the rigt of veto. is that what you are after?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Meanwhile, in the eye of the storm, is Republican Sen. John McCain, who is probably thinking, *"Payback's a b**h, isn't it, Donald?"

Sorry to be so blunt Strangerland but what you state is absolute cobblers. By your reasoning if it is not 100% true it cannot be investigated.

I wasn't the one who made that statement. You got the wrong poster.

I disagree with you on not being able to investigate though. Investigation can be done. Whether or not they report on the investigation is a different story. I don't think everything and anything should be reported. It needs to be determined on a case by case basis.

There's something about the verticality of these comments. They should be strewn about over the page like aging refrigerator magnets competing for the freezer door. Maybe Donald sees himself as the matador and the bull. It's obvious the conference technique of not using a list or questions added to the circus quality of the event, and played into bassforfunk's observation.."sit down and shut up. " Perhaps we should further blur the lines between the ghettoization of the press and the new agitprop by creating a seventh column. Since we're the sixth.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The reason why Mr. Thump refuses to interact with reporters is very logical, if one reflects on what has happened with other unqualified politicians, such as Sarah Palin.

When asked perfectly reasonable questions by reporters, unqualified politicians very quickly show themselves to be buffoons, and thus earn the scorn of the public. If, on the other hand, their only interaction with the public is through statements put out through twitter, or as statements at rallies, then they do not have to deal with having to show how qualified, or unqualified, they truly are.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It sounds like none of questions I would have wanted asked of Trump were asked.

I'm not American so my views don't count anyway, but I would have been asking lots of questions about upcoming tax and regulatory policy, for that is what is going to affect not only Americans, but non-Americans like myself.

Whether Trump has a fetish for golden showers, I don't care. Leave that to the tabloids and focus on what matters to people.

Reporters shouted and waved their arms at Trump to get his attention, rather than the president calling on questioners from a list, as is often the practice.

Sheez, who cares. Reporters should be writing about what is important to the public, not what seems important to reporters.

Seeing as the decision (CNN's) to publish carefully sourced reporting about the operations of our government is vastly different than from Buzzfeed's decision to publish unsubstaciated memos -

No, it isn't.

Buzzfeed released fake news. CNN released fake news referencing Buzzfeed's fake news. Fake news is fake news.

Especially since the NSA, CIA, and FBI have just released a 25 page report indicating that Russia has been feeding fake news stories to various news media outlets such as Buzzfeed and CNN.

@PTownsend: very good comment.

For example when I see multiple sources in an article I dont believe, I think that means they dont really have a source and are trying to prevent me from knowing who to ask to confirm. Just say its lots of people without identifying one specific person and I can never really find out who.

But when I see multiple sources in an article I do believe, I think wow thats great lots of people have confirmed this is true.

THE ELECTION WAS NOT HACKED.

A private server, run by a private organization, which was improperly secured, like millions of other server on the internet, was hacked. I've seen photos of the server, sitting, unsecured, on a table, in a common room, of the DNC offices.

No proof has been provided to show Russia was behind it. That doesn't mean that Russia wasn't behind it, just that there isn't any proof, just circumstantial evidence. The evidence doesn't meet the US legal standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt", IMHO.

None of this helps Mr. Trump solve his personality problems.

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/01/11/politics/cnn-statement-trump-buzzfeed/index.html

We made it clear that we were not publishing any of the details of the 35-page document because we have not corroborated the report's allegations.>

Any idea where I can read that document? (hint: its in the URL)

From the original CNN article:

claim to have (we dont know if they do) multiple US officials (no one person to ask) allegations came, in part (lots of sources, so dont ask us who) has not confirmed many essential details (but it might be true!!) cannot confirm if it was discussed in his meeting (but it might have been??) At this point, CNN is not reporting on details of the memos, as it has not independently corroborated the specific allegations (but go to buzzfeed and read those salacious details!) credible enough to include some of the information (at least some of it might be right?) so it is evaluated as it should be and acted upon as necessary (yeah someone might want to look into this to see if true)

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Ok let me try this:

Yesterday news- A document exists that may detail some activities that may have been done that could possibly be used for blackmail against Pres Trump if they become known.

Today news- Document of unverified information is released with salacious details to attempt to embarrass Pres Trump. All details of all known unverified information (including possible sexual preference info) to date now become public knowledge.

Tomorrow news- thanks to the public release of all the details, Pres Trump is no longer subject to potential blackmail. None of the unverified activities are criminal or illegal and no legal or police actions pending in the country they happened in. Any sexual preferences are covered under LGBT laws to prevent discrimination and are irrelevant to the job he was hired to do. Unless there is more information presented, there is no further threat of blackmail.

So the only reason left to even discuss this after tomorrow is....?

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Ok so basically you guys are saying CNN cant make up a story. But if someone else makes up a story, then you can report that there is a made up story, say you have no way to verify if it is true, but just publish it as news?

All you people who were so up in arms about WikiLeaks, no concern about how Buzzfeed got this document in the first place? Maybe it was Russian hacking to try to make Trump look bad and weaken him. Oh no, the Russians again.

I don't think the policy should be changed just because perennial press darling Donald Trump has been elected.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

marcelito, indeed. Whatever it is, it's not even "news", it's just not of any importance.

The man is the next President.

The reporters should be asking the next President things that matter to the people, such as "what are the tax policy changes and when is it going to happen?", "what is the plan for regulatory reform and when is it going to happen?", "who is going to build the infrastructure?"

Were Trump a better politician he'd just ignore these useless reporters who should be writing tabloids, and just tell them what they ought to hear. Amazingly he was like this during the presidential campaign too, never talking about his policies, but STILL got elected over Hillary Clinton.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Perhaps some have conveniently "forgotten " the times that Dear Leader Obama got very testy with certain reporters at pressers(including one annoying CNN punk named Acosta).

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

SuperLib - If Trump wants to show he isn't tied to Russia, then responding to the hacking would be a good start. But he isn't doing that.

You mean President-elect Trump, right? Obama is still the President. (Obama is still the President, isn't he? We hear so little from, or about, him anymore.) Obama finally got around to expelling Russians after the general election. Too bad he didn't do something before the general election when it might have helped fellow Democrat Hillary.

Do you expect Trump to respond to "the hacking" after he becomes President, and in addition to what Obama has finally done?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Russian Hack the material, Wrong, no evidence. What evidence there is, is that Russia got hold of the Hack uncoded material and decode it after receiving it of the hacker for free. remember the CIA brought us the into the war on Drugs, the war on Terror, the war with Iraq, the war with Isis base on their credible evidence gathering. I remember one Mr Scott Ritter ex CIA weapon inspector involve Iraq arms inspection yelling "It not true", to anyone who would listen that there is no evidence of WMD at all. Now we I have the CIA with claims again of big trouble from Russia. At the same time we have a the head of Wikileaks a person akin to Scott Ritter "a specialist in his field" of hacking telling us it not true that Russian Hacked. Sorry but this feel very similar.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

You're right. The bill signed (which means he is responsible for it by most definitions) by the president will make it harder for Russian and other foreign media to pass on propaganda and "fake news."

The bill would permit them to close down websites that they perceive as spreading "Russian propaganda." No trial needed.

Snopes did a very poor reading of the bill, and a critical reading of their article reveals obvious flaws, but what can one expect from an elderly tech couple and a cat?

Frankly, if you really believe Trump to be a dictatorial tyrant, you should be more upset than me that Obama basically handed him the tools to do whatever he wants without oversight. If Trump does all kinds of authoritarian actions, it will only be because his predecessor paved the way for him. Obama is actually the one who

Frankly, if you really believe Trump to be a dictatorial tyrant, you should be more upset than me that Obama basically handed him the tools to do whatever he wants without oversight. If Trump does all kinds of authoritarian actions, it will only be because his predecessor paved the way for him. This is what happens when the press sleeps and allows their preferred political leaders to do whatever they wish.

This is exactly right. The press were not very curious about any scandals by Obama because as social justice warriors they felt an obligation to protect the "the first black president" and frankly because the agree with his goals. The IRS scandal and the killing of the Benghazi consulate being the most obvious. Most of the press did not press Obama on these scandals and despite cursory reporting gave him a pass - and never attributed any nefarious intent. Obama pushed the executive power way beyond what Bush/Cheney ever imagined. Drone strikes killing American citizens? Bush/Cheney never did that. Making huge changes to immigration and health care law without Congressional approval - didn't happen under the previous administration. So the Left get's what they deserve - an activist president but this time one that is at odds with their goals. They can complain all that want but they sat around when their guy was doing it and were virtually mute.

The American press has proven itself partisan and Trump is calling them out on it when past Republican presidents would just fume back in the oval office and take it. He is discrediting the press because they deserve to be discredited. Even now they push this fake news story about the Russians having dirt on Trump when it could not be proven. They let BuzzFeed - an arm of NBC - do the dirty work and then CNN uses that as an excuse to spread the false news by hiding behind likes like 'unproven'. Well if it's unproven don't publish it. It's Fake News. CNN deserved getting thrashed by Trump. Granted he isn't a good person to do the trashing given his Birther involvement but hey, he is right this time.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Of course Trump has to go with the flow now. It doesn't take him long to realize he can't win or else he'll be targeted with more fake news. This is how the establishment deal with rebels.

1) What precisely would a "great" America look like to you personally? In other words, what criteria would America have to meet to be considered "rising," as opposed to "falling"?

Strong immigration, top notch and state of the art secure borders, get rid of all the regulations, PC speech, a strong economy, particularly and most importantly in the private sector. More interaction and education for our Black youth to cut down on the out of control violence, out of control wedlock birth rates, unemployment, get rid of sanctuary cities, any illegals that break the law and regardless of circumstance should be prosecuted according to the laws of the country. ID's for ALL Americans legal or naturalized, real affordable healthcare with a public option, a strong military, outreach programs to bring people of different racial and religious backgrounds together to educate and teach people about racial tolerance, ween ourselves from foreign oil and commit to more fracking, increase oil, gas and coal production and use as much of our own natural resources and have complete energy independence, lower taxes and for the future have people in the private sector invest in new sources of renewable energy to slowly ween ourselves off of oil and coal.

2) In your opinion, when exactly was America last "great"?

Before Obama came to office, it wasn't exactly great, but it sure wasn't a hellhole, except for the war which was.

Again, serious questions that I don't think I've ever really asked you before. I'm honestly not trying to be my usual snarky self here.

To be fair, I tried to give Obama a chance, but the problem I always fundamentally had with Obama was, he was too far left! I voted for Clinton twice and as I keep saying, I'm a conservative, but I would vote for a Democrat if they have the right policies, Clinton did, he started off a bit on the far left side, but in his second term, he and the new GOP congress under Gingrich met in the middle and got a lot of things done, unlike Obama that was stern, unwavering and extremely stubborn. So as a president, Clinton was pretty good for a Democrat, Obama, not at all. So for me it's not about being partisan, it's about execution of policies and worldview outlook and Obama and my outlook are very different, so I couldn't support a man like that.

Because....you say so?

Nobut Trump will be president in 10 days, what do you think? Marinade on that point for a moment.

So the 2008 financial crash completely slipped your mind.

That the two bungling Democratic idiots Barney Frank and Chris Dodd caused, No it didn't.

Is Fox News putting it about that it happened on Obama's watch?

Dude, what is your obsession with FNC? LOL But 47% of the National Debt was caused on Obama's watch, I didn't forget that as well.

smith: “I am not going to give you a question,” Trump said, ignoring Acosta’s requests. “You are fake news.”

"The man is a child"

Uh, no, the man has every right to refuse to let the rude fake news CNN reporter ask a question, if he wants to ask Trump a question at future press conferences he can quit CNN and join a real news organization.

Oh my...

Trump attorney: CNN, BuzzFeed owe my family an apology:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnKYzoqASsw

"Once installed, Trump will be gutted and eaten alive by the GOP pack."

Har! But I have a better one - Trump is not only going to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico and have Mexico pay for it, he's going to build a wall around Australia and have New Zealand pay for it.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

The left wingers on here believe that lying and fabricating news about people is okay. The news CNN and Buzz reported was trash. I guess left wingers like trash news.

@Cleo,

I think Clinton would have been the war starter and economy killer..

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

Katsu78 Trump can't deal with criticism..

He deals with critique. The prestitute styled subterfuge criticism,he deosnot deals with and calls it out as such. We should we thankful that he has made the MSM lies and deceit now Mainstream!

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

A couple observations:

Of course the Trump press conference was nothing like the Obama speech. Trump was dealing with answering questions from a hostile, dishonest media looking for a gotcha moment. Obama reading a speech about his supposed legacy on the way out the door in front of adoring fans. A speech that took another man 2 weeks and 5 rough drafts to write that he just read aloud. Yuuuge difference.

CNN is fake news in this case. This information has been out there and for months none of the anti Trump people could verify it as true, the report itself even mentions it might not be true. As the media, If you cant prove it, you cant say it.

Trump doesnt need to do anything about Russia hacking. Obama said he handled that already last week, right? Trump is only admitting Russian involvement to move on to something actually important. So now you guys are expecting Trump to clean up Obama mess by doing something to protect the careless way Democrats handled information and email?

-12 ( +6 / -18 )

Controlled media is when someone has proof and is not allowed to say it. When something actually happened and it is suppressed for political reasons. Any proof that any of this happened?

@Strangerland: makes up a story without any facts behind the story. so what are the facts behind the whole Trump in Russia thing? The only facts I know is that anti Trump people paid someone to do a report on it and were provided what they hoped to hear, but with no verification. So you are saying CNN is ok cause they are just reporting that there was an unverified report?

So if someone tells me that you have a criminal background with no proof, I can then go to your work and tell them that it is being discussed by others that you are a criminal? I know the guy who was paid to get this info and he is probably right so I can just tell everyone it happened? Now your name is going to be in the newspaper because I say that someone else said that you are a criminal? Wont you ask me or the newspaper to prove this prior to publication?

Come on, thats made up, and fake news.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

Are you saying the 2008 financial crash was caused by two Democratic politicians?

Yes.

Then, in 2007, the house of cards fell. Home prices that had been bid up too high began collapsing. The bubble popped, taking down huge numbers of jobs in the housing industry, erasing billions in paper wealth, and costing many individuals homes that they should never have borrowed to purchase.

Dodd-Frank imposes huge new regulatory costs, while sending this message to the financial industry: don’t take risks. Banks have had to substitute compliance officers for lending officers. As a result of this counter-productive mountain of a law (over 360,000 words), there is today much less investment capital available for entrepreneurial activities and small business growth, both of which are crucial to our economic vitality. Dodd-Frank is a considerable part of the federal drag that has kept the economy’s recovery from the bubble so sluggish.

Did you get this information from the same place as the news that the stock market only recovered after news of Trump's victory?

Sorry, I stay away from the Daily Kos, anything else, Jim?

@Smith

What does that have to do with Dodd and Frank being the MAIN catalyst for the collapse, I never said, Bush wasn't responsible, I was talking about Dodd and Frank specifically. I just hate when liberals jump all over Bush, but selectively and conveniently NEVER mention the two culprits that started the ball rolling.

but I remember laughing at the top ten list of things Obama did that went against the Constitution that was outright lies.

Uh-huh, is your kool aid lemon or cherry flavored today? Oh and lay off the sugar.

You must be pretty upset Megan is leaving FOX for the MSM you complain about.

Why???

Megyn can do whatever she wants, she's a big girl and I wish her luck, she's gotta do what she's gotta do, she's talented and hope she's happy and does well. I know her ratings were dropping and fast, so I think NBC is a good place for her. That's how this business is, you lose some and you gain some, goes with the territory.

In any case, Trump's now admitting what he clearly lied about in terms of Russia, and it's funny to know they have a LOT of dirt on him that he's utterly petrified of them revealing.

Can you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he lied? Because you must know something that NONE of us in the media do NOT! So what is your proof?

Well, funny in a very sad way, because it helps ensure the lies he's told about not being in debt or having vested interests in Russia means he will kow-tow to their every demand, as he has been so far.

You guys on the left try so, so very hard, in vain, but I give you all credit for tenacity and trying so hard. LOL

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Yes, where did you get the news that the stock market only recovered after the news of a Trump victory?

I never said that, I said, since Trump took over the stock market and especially the Dow are off the charts.

You've eliminated the Daily Kos as a candidate.

Of course!!!!

Thank you. Many are discussing the integrity of news outlets and you could help by identifying the source of such outrageous drivel.

Pretty much all of them that refuse to do proper vetting of any story and checking it's validity before running with it.

If Trump wants to show he isn't tied to Russia, then responding to the hacking would be a good start. But he isn't doing that.

What a give the liberals a platform so they can keep trolling him for the next 4-8 years that Trump knew somehow he was being played and thus acknowledging he's some illegitimate candidate. Trump is NOT that dumb.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

Pathetic..

Couldn't agree more! The press and most of the MSM are pathetic.

-13 ( +5 / -18 )

I guess this is the future of the U.S.A.. It doesn't matter what Trump says or does, the Hillary supporters will repeatedly attack him. If Trump defends himself from those attacks, the Hillary supporters will attack him for that. And Trump will counterpunch. Aren't these the same tactics that insured Trump beat 17 GOP opponents, and 1 Democrat opponent? That worked out really well, didn't it.

In the mean time, Trump appears to attending to his duties preparing to be POTUS. The constant whining from the Hillary supporters doesn't seem to be slowing him down one bit. Amazing.

-14 ( +3 / -17 )

@bass: Love it! Put these people in their place, disrespectful, sit down and shut up! Don't take no ****! The next 4-8 years are gonna be great! Finally a president that doesn't suck up to the media!

I concur completely. Eight years of fawning supplication before Obama and now the press has finally awoken from it's slumber and is ready to speak truth to power? What a joke. I loved seeing Trump slap-down the fake news from CNN and BuzzFeed. Conservatives have had to put up with this crap for decades.

I don't necessarily see Trump as a real conservative but he has an R by his name so the mainstream media is automatically out to take him down - as usual. After Obama's speech last night in which he sought to justify his terrible racial policies, his normalization of racial discrimination, and to pretend his presidency was something other than an ideological jihad executed via executive order, it is nice to see Trump introduce the press to reality. No more being pushed around by fake news outfits like CNN and MSNBC. Great news conference. Looking forward to more of the same over the next 4 to 8 years.

-14 ( +2 / -16 )

Trump to CNN

your are fake news!

I've been waiting 15 years to hear that. LOL Go ge'dem Donald!

-14 ( +2 / -16 )

@bass4funk - you're barking up the wrong tree trying to talk sense into all the lefties on this site! One up-vote from me!

-14 ( +2 / -16 )

"The next 4-8 years are gonna be great!"

It'll be 8 years, followed by 4-8 great years of one of his awesome children.

"Soooo is he going to do anything about Russia?"

How about is he going to do anything WITH Russia, like fighting terrorism, expanding business opportunities, etc. No good?

Trump: "I don't know that I'm going to get along with Vladimir Putin, I hope I do, but there's a good chance I won't, and if I don't, do you honestly believe that Hillary would be tougher on Putin than me? Does anybody in this room really believe that? Give me a break."

Probably some Hillary fans believe that, lol.

-15 ( +2 / -17 )

A much deserved and long overdue beat down of the dishonest, radical alt-left media.

Bravo, President (elect) TRiUMPh. . . .

-15 ( +2 / -17 )

The CNN twit was out of line. He should have been tossed out on his... ear. At a press conference, you wait until called upon to ask a question.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

Ethical? We don't need no stinkin' ethics! Apparently, Trumps plan is to tax the money poor, hardworking immigrants remit to their poorer families back in Mexico.

So because they're poor we should just give them a break? Ask yourself what the Japanese would do in this situation.

Also, he plans to deport all of these immigrants, meaning they'll be no more remittances.

He should, they broke the law, simple as that.

He apparently hasn't thought this through.

He has sine about 1988

-16 ( +4 / -20 )

Unless it's RussiaToday.

That would be the Democrats. If they would stop reading that junk we wouldn't be dealing with this nonsense now.

-18 ( +5 / -23 )

Fall? We have already been in the canyon for a long time, after the 20th, we will be thrown a rope and a lifeline

-18 ( +5 / -23 )

You'd be saying that even if he'd been slinging back shots of tequila, trying to take swings at reporters he didn't like and throwing up everywhere. So who cares.

What?

If he doesn't start a new war and/or destroy the global economy in his four years, I'll consider his presidency to be a roaring success.

That last part you just might be right.

This fits with Trump's history of not paying people for goods and services provided, knowing that if they sue they won't win against Trump's legal team. Trump is the Ugly American.

Apparently, you didn't hear what Trump said, building a wall, better security or a high tech surveillance is the first priority for him in his incoming administration. If we build it and have Mexico reimburse us, who cares, I don't think anyone cares as long as it gets done, worry about the money later. It's funny how people that don't live near the Mexican border can comment on anything. I do and I want that Wall so badly, I'll volunteer to help build it for free if it comes down to it. You had one of the worst presidents that's about to leave thankfully who didn't care one bit about the flow of illegal immigration, but securing the borders turning up the rhetoric implies that you are a racist, really. Good lord......

-19 ( +5 / -24 )

Neither does the 'evidence' that was used at Guantanamo, and yet the Republicans imprisoned a whole lot of people there, that are still there.

And I hope they stay there indefinitely.

A quote Democrats could learn from in the future.
