Flynn's phone conversation(s) would no doubt have been recorded by both sides. Once the investigation starts, Flynn will be toast very quickly. What remains to be seen is how much Pence, or maybe even Trump, knew about this, or encouraged it.

The man who called for Hillary Clinton to be locked up for using a private email server seems to have compromised America's security by discussing sanctions with the Russian ambassador while still a civilian. Instant karma time.

23 ( +27 / -4 )

@plasticm compromised America's security

But this is a good compromise of America's security, just like Trump's conflicts of interest are the good kind, just like his philandering was the good kind, just like his bankruptcies were the good kind, just like his stiffings of smaller businesses were the good kind, just like his lack of knowledge of global politics is the good kind, just like his relationship with Putin is the good kind, just like his owing hundreds of millions to global financiers is the good kind, just like his not showing his tax returns is the good kind, just like his lies are the good kind, just like his manipulation of the media is the good kind, amongst so many others goods in comparison.

Trump is doing what demagogues throughout history have done: he's established himself as leader of a cult of followers who'll follow him blindly. The majority of the US (i.e. those who did NOT vote for him) have to stand firm in ensuring the system of checks and balances remain in place to limit this man's attempts at power grabs.

Trump and his follower's attacks on the judiciary should frighten anyone who believes in the Constitution.

17 ( +20 / -3 )

Adios.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

I'll admit that once thorough investigation is completed and found this man guilty, then good riddance. Otherwise, follow should refrain from the clutching at straws morphing into flying off the handle syndrome!!

-20 ( +0 / -20 )

If he goes, he won't be the last. Sooner or later (probably sooner at this rate), someone else on Trump's "all-star" team will trip up and be shown the door. But you can be sure the media or the opposition will be blamed, not the individual.

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Flynn is an idiot both not for assuming his call was being recorded and for thinking an "I don't remember" non-apology would be sufficient - which is worse, an NSA chief who lies or who cannot recall crucial communications?

And why was Pence apparently unaware of this when he stuck his neck out for Flynn? Either Pence is lying, too, or he's embarrassingly out of the loop - rumors of this had been spreading before Pence's remarks, so he or someone on his team seriously dropped the ball, even if he was lying (something you don't do when you know you'll be caught).

Par fort the Trump administration course so far.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

What a tangled web we weave.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Flynn's phone conversation(s) would no doubt have been recorded by both sides. Once the investigation starts, Flynn will be toast very quickly. What remains to be seen is how much Pence, or maybe even Trump, knew about this, or encouraged it.

IF he did it or knew at all. Let's not throw Conspiracy theories out there.

If he goes, he won't be the last. Sooner or later (probably sooner at this rate), someone else on Trump's "all-star" team will trip up and be shown the door.

-23 ( +2 / -25 )

If he did, he shouldn't be denying it as Russia can at any point in the future come out and contradict him and put the administration into disgrace and chaos. That is a national security threat

13 ( +14 / -1 )

I guess I'll just have to reserve judgement on the man who says he doesn't remember what he talked about in his first call to the Russians. Because I need the help of an investigation to make up my mind.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

IF he did it or knew at all. Let's not throw Conspiracy theories out there** oh like Judges are all left wing nutters, FAKE COURTS!

6 ( +10 / -4 )

The Logan Act I believe. Nothing like a country with laws to protect itself from traitors ignoring its own laws

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Remember, this is the guy who wound up his audience at the Republican Convention with chants of 'lock her up'. https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/national/michael-flynn-leads-chants-of-lock-her-up-at-republican-convention/2016/08/11/788253f8-6016-11e6-84c1-6d27287896b5_video.html

Could one of Trump's supporters, maybe one of the Nashi posters, please explain why so many in Trump's inner circle have close connections with Putin's Russia

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Well, he just resigned because he knew he was a traitor

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Flint will stay.

Good call man, not even 20 minutes later he resigns.

Time to take a look into what Trump and Pence know. Time to take a deeper look into Trump's Russian ties.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Flynn resigning will not defuse the situation as he was a symptom, not a cause, of the disease - and that disease is Trump's dysfunctional relationship with federal entities that endure beyond administrations and therefore beyond politics. That Trump was supposed as non-political is ironic considering the massive rebellion of those who staff America's agencies against his carelessness and insulting meddling. He's alienated the judicial branch, the FBI, congress, liberal states - pretty much everyone possible. Chickens have a tendency to come home to roost, though, and his cavalier attitude towards the intelligence community will not come without pushback. Interesting speculation here that the NSA is withholding sensitive info from the White House due to trust issues. http://observer.com/2017/02/donald-trump-administration-mike-flynn-russian-embassy/

Bye-bye, Flynn. Trump: Don't think his resignation will absolve you with all you've alienated.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Adios.

Burning BushFEB. 14, 2017 - 12:49PM JST

Just wait for the news cycle to run it's course.

No. Its course. Not "it's course." That means "it is course," which doesn't mean anything at all.

This will be forgotten news after 2 or 3 days. McCain will rant about it no doubt, but everybody ignores him anyways. Flint will stay.

Ha ha. Comedy gold.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Quality people on team Trump. As we suspected all along, but didn't expect positive confirmation so quickly. Spicer and Conway will be next, for their gross incompetence and lying. Then who? The person responsible for hiring all his fellow-morons?

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Trump's National Security Adviser Flynn resigns over contacts with Russia

This is absolutely the correct outcome.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

How long before we hear problems related to this blamed on liberals and the media.

However, I do tip my hat to the person or group in the White House that decided to cut this latest loss. It's a sign that someone's paying attention.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

KellyAnn Conway said a few hours before Flynn resigned that POTUS Trump had complete confidence in him. Maybe she meant "Alternative confidence"?

I am more interested in the news that some officials leaked the news about Flynn. It would indicate that Trump has lost trust from a lot of officials. People can say what they want about Obama, but he did not lose officials like this.

Again, more popcorn!

As I already wrote here yesterday:

https://www.japantoday.com/category/world/view/white-house-defends-travel-ban-as-problems-mount-over-n-korea-flynn#comment_2354291

NSA Flynn is caught in a lie. Even had VP Pence to lie for him. Shifted from flatly denying to "no recollection of discussing sanctions but couldn’t be certain that the topic never came up" to now officials admitting that it was discussed. That turns out to be the reason Russia didn't retaliate, not because Putin was being magnanimous.

Also, though no one has ever been prosecuted for it, there is a law against it - the Logan Act bans unauthorized U.S. citizens from communicating with a foreign government "with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government ... in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States."

Doubtful that's going to get used. After all, as they say, the only thing more shocking than the truth is the lie and cover-up afterwards.

Flynn lied to the VP, and Pence vouched for him, so Flynn put his boss in a bad light. He could've broken the law, and Russia knows he could've broken the the law - so Russia could use that as leverage/blackmail somewhere down the line.

And these types of calls that Flynn made --it's customary but limited to niceties and no policies-- there are always some people around listening. Flynn wouldn't have gotten away with it - it would've surfaced one way or another. Which is why it's a bit perplexing that (a) he would do it and (b) lie about it, especially to a VP.

Now people may question, when did the Trump administration find out about it

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Well, you gotta give Trump credit where it's due. He picked a cabinet that went over three weeks without someone having to resign in scandal.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

The first domino to fall!!!

Interesting to see what spin the alternate reality stars will put on it.

Maybe they will say that Flynn was never the NSA, the liberal media made up the story.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Maybe they will say that Flynn was never the NSA, the liberal media made up the story.

But bruh, her emails!

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Maybe they will say that Flynn was never the NSA

No, that's Steve Bannon

8 ( +8 / -0 )

As expected the door of Trump's administration has begun to revolve. II expect it will soon pick up tempo and more and more flunkies will fly through the spinning door topping even the jaw-dropping record set by Reagan's revolving-door administration. Trump's team is going to be like a train-wreck in slow motion. Who'da thunk it?

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Justice Department now free to prosecute

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Donny's not gonna like this - he's had to fold to pressure from Dems and the press. And this is just the brink in the dam - huge struggle going on now over the future of Reince Priebus, GOP establishment's best friend in the cabinet. Whether he survives at the expense of others or whether his head rolls is crucial in understanding whether Trump is succumbing to GOP pressure or whether he is bucking it. If the former, likely is that congressional Repubs will play a greater roll in filling out Trump's depleted cabinet - and that these appointees will owe their loyalty to congressional Repub leaders, not to Trump.

This will be important when the 25th Amendment, Article 4 is invoked.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

I was sort of hoping Trump would be the first person from the Trump administration to resign in disgrace, but oh well. Let the floodgates begin.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Let's not throw Conspiracy theories out there.

Oh Bass, you always make me laugh...

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump wasn't aware of what Flynn was up to... I agree with some others, I think it was Trump's idea to discuss the sanctions.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Amazing that David Petraeus is on the shortlist as a replacement. You remember, the guy who slept with his own biographer and gave her access to classified information, costing him his job. Does team Trump have anybody (in America) in charge of "severe vetting" for these picks?

"If he did, he's complicit."

Which is a very normal thing in Washington and happens in EVERY administration.

"If he didn't, he's clueless and clearly an idiot to appoint the man in the first place."

That's how many of us felt about Eric Holder and Susan Rice.

Ha. I knew you couldn't help yourself. So. Are you or are you not going to condemn Trump for being complicit or clueless? I mean, it's coming to light now that the White House was warned weeks ago about this potential Flynn problem:

"Sally Yates, the then-acting US attorney general, told the White House late last month she believed Mr Flynn had misled them about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador, current and former US officials told the Washington Post on Monday."

"She said Mr Flynn might have put himself into a compromising position, possibly leaving himself vulnerable to blackmail, the officials said."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/02/13/donald-trump-evaluating-michael-flynns-situation-conversations/

Anyway, take your time over delivering a verdict. I appreciate it must be a bit hard to say anything critical of The Donald after talking him up so much (straight talker, no BS, not PC, etc etc) without feeling just a little bit like a gullible idiot, but see how you get on.

15 ( +15 / -0 )

Which is a very normal thing in Washington and happens in EVERY administration.

Ah. This type of footsie with a foreign government - not less Russia - "happens in EVERY administration." Thanks for the news. Care to give even a single example to back up your assertion? One? Even a teeny-weeny one?

Reading now about Congressional GOP problems dealing with the ACA. Lucky for them, the way things are going, Trump's brief administration will leave no time for major legislation. That's lucky for America, too - a rare example of bipartisan "wow, we dodged that bullet!" happiness.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

The Logan Act I believe. Nothing like a country with laws to protect itself from traitors ignoring its own laws

The Logan Act was not really an issue. Sure, it is a law, but it has only been used once in history on some unknown midwestern farmer who made some politician angry. It is violated all the time and if used would prevent a new administration from doing nearly anything before coming into office.

The administration knew he was compromised weeks ago and didn't act.

Lying to Pence (and the public) was just an excuse to kick him out. It should have been the reason and should have happened as soon as they learned about it, i.e., it should have happened weeks ago.

The real reason for the resignation is the "fake" news coming from the Washington Post noting that the DOJ informed the president of the compromise weeks ago. Oh, and the transcripts reported by the "fake" news CNN on Sunday. He could have survived if not for the dastardly "fake" news outing the administration.

One nutter gone. Many more to go.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Since he resigned, does this count as a self-draining?

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Mmmm hmmm. "The Art of the Deal." Not!

10 ( +10 / -0 )

I just wonder if the libs feel like gullible idiots

The gullible idiots are the ones who believe Trump's lies.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

The gullible idiots are the ones who believe Trump's lies.

But liberals and Democrats are loaded with integrity and pure honesty?? Good lord....

-26 ( +0 / -26 )

And there's the drip, drip, drip of Trump administration incompetency. Hopelessly out of their depth.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

"loaded with integrity" would be continuing to call Elizabeth Warren the idiotic nickname "Pocahontas"? Sweet jeezus...

Personally, I would feel like a complete jerk.

I'd be feeling a bit like that right now if I'd been going on and on and on and on a few weeks ago about pizzas, wine, parties and Trump t-shirts for the kids. Still wearing them proudly?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Do I think Trump makes mistakes, sure, but I also know the man is trying and the man is not perfect

The man is a documented dissembler, a career conman. The only thing he will try to do is deceive you again and again. You'll believe it because you want to believe it . You fell for the lies of a liar.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Funny that the Trumpets still think Trump was going to drain the swamp.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Wonder what trumpy is gonna say if asked about flynn?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Wonder what trumpy is gonna say if asked about flynn?

"I've never met nor heard of this man in my life!"

That would be consistent with Trump's usual level of accuracy and honesty.

Don't be too upset, Donald. Most of us have been jilted. Just remember, there are plenty more alligators in the swamp.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Low gas prices, lot's of jobs everywhere!, no major wars. Most of us support closing the border (unless you believe CNN and others). Tell me Lunatic-liberal fringe other than ad hominem....what have you got that's tangible? I thought so.......

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

lot's of jobs everywhere!

Heh, not if ya believe Trump - he was criticizing the US job reports not too long ago, lol

Yup.

JuliusCaesarFEB. 14, 2017 - 06:49PM JST Low gas prices, lot's of jobs everywhere!, no major wars.

Indeed. Thank-you President Obama. Gopod to read your support friend.

There's more than one reason he has that cheesy ear to ear grin while kite surfing. The mid-term elections can't come soon enough, if impeachment doesn't happen before.

The only question is who's next to go? My money is on Reince "my name sounds like a battery car" Preibus. Either way grab a beer and some Pringles....

Trump t-shirts for the kids? A man who ogles underage girls boasting that he'll be dating them in ( fill in the blank )years? That's worse than an old pervert boasting about walking into a room of naked/semi-naked beauty queens.

The last time my stomach turned like that was the stench of a swamp.

Seth Moulton ✔ @sethmoulton This seems to be the first thing the Trump Administration has done that might actually improve our national security. https://twitter.com/bostonglobe/status/831356989687083009 …

Heh. Ouch. That's got to get under the president's thin skin.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Flynn should be deported to Mexico.

a very normal thing in Washington and happens in EVERY administration.

Please tell us the last time an incoming national security advisor discussed the possible lifting of sanctions with the ambassador of another country before entering office.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

@madverts Seth Moulton ✔ @sethmoulton This seems to be the first thing the Trump Administration has done that might actually improve our national security.

US Representative Seth Moulton has a physics degree from Harvard. As a Marine Corps officer he served 4 tours of combat duty in Iraq. He came to oppose the war. (As did - and still do - I.) Moulton identifies as a progressive Democrat.

Because Trump was a brat and his daddy couldn't control him, rich daddy bought his bullying son a secondary education at a military school. Later his rich daddy bought his son's way out of military service. Trump says he knows more than the generals.

Trump would probably criticize Moulton because his side lost the war in Iraq. And there are still veterans who back Trump. I can see why chickenhawks support him; birds of a feather, after all.

If Flynn had to resign over talking to the Russians ( and helping to avoid war ) why isn't Henry Kissinger in jail for what he's done?

If Flynn didn't do it, then why did he resign?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Stranger - watch the H A Goodman video I posted, you'll find out why he resigned.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

There's a master and an apprentice. They got the apprentice, now they need to go after the master. Or did you think Flynn called the Russians on his own initiative? Already there are recordings and witnesses so the Justice Department should be able to move quickly, if they are allowed to

I can do better, I can go over the years where every admin. had a scandal or two, the point is a scandal is a scandal and NO admin. is immune to it.

-17 ( +0 / -17 )

I can go over the years where every admin. had a scandal or two

Then do it.

Because otherwise it's fake news.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

All readers, stay on topic please. Other administrations are not relevant to this discussion.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So I think that Flynn took the courageous and righteous step in resigning today, he'll survive it, but Trump just couldn't stand by him, the optics of that would have been so bad. But this is not the end, the Trump admin. will move on. I have never seen any other presidents going back to Kennedy that didn't have some sort of scandal and it won't be the last, goes with the territory.

GENERAL MICHAEL FLYNN RESIGNS FROM MCCARTHY ERA MEDIA FRENZY: FBI Cleared Flynn Last Month

He does, that's why Flynn is gone.

If that happened?

“I’ll tell you the funniest is that I’ll go backstage before a show and everyone’s getting dressed,” Trump told Howard Stern in a 2005 recording released by CNN.

“No men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in, because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it. … ‘Is everyone OK?’ You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody OK?’ And you see these incredible-looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.”

3 ( +6 / -3 )

yep, but three weeks in and Trump already has one,

Again, it's not THAT bad and not the end of the world, have a lot of respect for General Flynn, always have, but he screwed up, he resigned, time to move on, if liberals want to feast on red meat, go right ahead, it becomes noise so fast.

at this rate he should will be smashing records (not the good ones either) by the time his 4yrs are up.

I'm sure the Telex will sputter to life with some talking points soon. Heh, even they must be embarrassed at the retorts from Trump Republicans.

Like others, I can see more of this happening, just imagine having to work for trump, lying all the time, you can SEE the wear & tear on people around him, spicer is looking like real dweeb & kellyann C is aging about a 1year a week, she took the job figuring she would have to cover for trump for a bit, then move on when he lost, but he won & she stuck having to lie & dodge obvious truths, she must be near a breakdown, no one can last long doing what she is doing...but hey, she can quit LOL!!

4 ( +4 / -0 )

No, sorry, there is no way I could spin like the left, couldn't even come close.

Oh enough. Your fixation on "lying liberals" is breathtakingly absurd considering that in the past you have posted Forbes Op-Ed pieces as your own opinion, and quoted fictitious books to further your claim that Democrats have done "nothing" to help blacks.

I'm sure you also know what LBJ once said about Blacks, right?

The only people at this point that seems to know and should know is the NSA. Has nothing to do with Trump's cabinet.

Come on now......

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Bass4funk, you're in complete self-denial. It's as if Pandora's Box has been opened up 10 times over. Scandal after scandal.

Apart from the complete lies coming out of Spicer and Conway's mouths, Flynn was bad news from the very beggining and anyone with their heads outside of their rectums would have known this. If Flynn and Trump were Democrats, they would have already been called treacherous Commie spies.

And now, we have Stephen 'Goebbels' Miller threatening people for not believing him and Trump that many voted illegally. Yes, there's plenty of "proof", but somehow they won't provide it. Hell, I've got proof Trump is really an orangutan, but I won't show you the proof.

And then there's your beloved Trump hosting Botchan in one of his resorts. When North Korea fired a missile, they were examining confidential documents in full view of ordinary members of the public in his resort and using the light from their smartphones because it was dark. Many other diners were actually taking pictures on their smartphones. Hell, we now all know who carries the nuclear football. Right now, I can see his face and name! All this big fiasco and lack of discretion is an absolute gift to any enemy of America. And Trump complained that Clinton compromised security by using a private email account (like Colin Powell, who, oddly enough, was never criticized). Hypocrisy and stupidity knows no bounds in the current White House.

Christ, the current White House line-up looks like the Addams Family gone haywire.

I feel sorry for those who voted for Clinton, but have absolutely no sympathy for those who regretted voting for Trump. Enjoy! Another day when I'm glad I'm not American.

Plus1 for the globalists and their MSM lackeys. They still want their war with Russia.

Within the last 30 mins — NYT, WashPost, WSJ and Politico each dropped pieces that have to be alarming for your future if you're Mike Flynn 5:51 PM - 12 Feb 2017

And that's how it's done folks. They've been doing this for decades but more so in the last few years targeting there enemies, usually Russia. Don't let the hegemons win!

Supporters? Can't we just call them what they are: henchmen and toadies.

Flynn lied to his boss; his boss vouched for him and thus was made to look bad on live TV.

If you did that to your boss, what do you think would happen to you?

Now let's remember this guy is a former general of the army who was privy to highly classified materials, are we to believe he missed this oversight? And what's troubling is GOP circus is trying to determine who leaked this info , as if to say the leaker is worse than the leak itself!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Stats please.

I provided them above.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Uh-huh....sure. But on a serious note, I have a question, how will Gen. Flynn serve time and for what? And how long. 6 months, maybe one year?

And what's troubling is GOP circus is trying to determine who leaked this info , as if to say the leaker is worse than the leak itself!

Most of the people in the State department currently serving were from the previous administration, if I were Trump, I would let them all go and replace them, that should stop the leaking cold turkey.

Most of the people in the State department currently serving were from the previous administration, if I were Trump, I would let them all go and replace them, that should stop the leaking cold turkey.

Oh please, when has the GOP ever cared about leaks except when they hurt them? ROFL

Uh-huh....sure. But on a serious note, I have a question, how will Gen. Flynn serve time...

I think prison is customary, weren't you aware of that?

...and for what?

Being in violation of the 1799 Logan Act forbidding private citizens from conducting foreign diplomacy, I understand.

And how long. 6 months, maybe one year?

More likely he'll just never work again, except maybe as a Fox News talking head. Or maybe more like a ranting head.

Oh, you think it's necessary in this case? Ok, so for how long?

Being in violation of the 1799 Logan Act forbidding private citizens from conducting foreign diplomacy, I understand.

Sorry, but not that relevant. It is more relevant if the president has the full confidence of his cabinet staff and if the president feels comfortable and content, under his discretion, he can do whatever, keep him or ask for his resignation and president Trump asked for his resignation, but the Logan Act is not something that you can firmly hold to account, especially when it involves the president.

More likely he'll just never work again, except maybe as a Fox News talking head. Or maybe more like a ranting head.

That would be great, if he worked at FNC, he still would make a huge salary as a paid contributor. Kudos to him, if that were to happen.

Sorry, but not that relevant.

I think you want to say it is not important. Obviously it is relevant. The Logan Act describes specifically what Flynn is accused of doing. You may not think it matters, but it certainly is relevant.

I am curious about your opinions about this. It is clear that Flynn was undermining the current US policy at the time he was speaking with the Russian ambassador. It is also clear that speaking with the Russian ambassador about the topic of sanctions was illegal under the Logan Act. No matter what you think of Obama and his policies, I have a hard time believing you would defend someone who attempted to illegally undermine the US government. Don't you think your position is unrealistically extreme?

That would be great, if he worked at FNC,

Why would you cheer on someone who did something illegal and to undermine your own country? I just can't get my head around this. Don't you think illegal acts matter? Don't you think illegal acts are revelant to leaders of countries?

Fair enough.

The Logan Act describes specifically what Flynn is accused of doing. You may not think it matters, but it certainly is relevant.

It depends on what you consider relelvant, if it involves the president and how he places his trust into a cabinet official and he feels that the individual can't be trusted, then it is irrelevant, if it compromises national security and there are substantiated facts that an individual conspired purposely with one of our adversaries, then it is more relevant and should be investigated.

No and I am not defending Flynn, as I have stated before, I have always admired the man and his tenacity, but maybe he wasn't suited for this job and choosing him for his previous position was a big mistake, you learn, you move on and make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

That would be great, if he worked at FNC,

Because we don't know the full details, but I think there is something bigger involved in all of this and I believe there are serious elements within the Trump admin. leftover from the previous admin. to topple the president, I have No doubt about it, now how deep or widespread, I do not know. Trump wants to clean out the status quo and that doesn't sit well with anyone that have greatly benefitted from it for over 70 years. Also, at the same time, I am disappointed at Flynn's action, the man has a right to make a living and he WERE to get a gig at a network and earn a good living, why not? Of course, after he paid his fines and whatever punishment comes his way.

I just can't get my head around this. Don't you think illegal acts matter? Don't you think illegal acts are relevant to leaders of countries?

I never said, I didn't.

Again, it's not THAT bad and not the end of the world

This has the beginnings of a huge scandal.

There are so many questions raised by Flynn's actions and firing, and other revelations that the Trump campaign and Trump insiders were in constant contact with Russia last year.

Why did Trump (let alone his little liars) lie about it last week when a reporter asked him if he knew the DoJ felt Flynn was compromised weeks ago. He said he didn't know about it, but he knew about it three weeks ago. Why fire him now? The news got wind of it.

Did Trump instruct Flynn? Most likely. I find it hard to believe Flynn's memory is that bad or that he was that much of a rogue to do something on his own.

What is Trump focusing on with this scandal? Leaks of this information and not the information itself.

It is getting leaked because it is damning and troubling.

Trump has been in league with Russia the whole time.

Russia is turtling to make it look like they aren't involved, e.g., they have stated that the sanctions were not discussed, but the transcripts with Flynn say they were

The British ex-spy who found all of Trump's connections with Russia and which have now been verified independently, although not the golden sprinkle part or the so called compromising information on Trump.

Yea, Trump lectured Clinton on security while Trump was throwing it out the window. And, people bought it.

I see. So Flynn talking with the Russian ambassador about the possible lifting of sanctions before Trump became president was the way the Trump administration wanted to take on the status quo of the past 70 years. Too clever for me to comprehend. Care to explain?

That the Obama administration imposed for mettling in our elections, yes....

before Trump became president was the way the Trump administration wanted to take on the status quo of the past 70 years.

I'm not going to get into Trump's head or admin. I know libs like to speculate, but I'm not touching it until all the facts are out, NOT left wing whiny opinions, but just the facts!

Perhaps Trump is the true Manchurian Candidate

It will be interesting to see how this is investigated, if at all.

Okay. It is my view that since Flynn was the National Security Advisor and he certainly seems to have put himself in a position that potential caused security risks and compromises, I would say that it is relevant and it should be investigated. That is the very meaning of the oft used term 'drain the swamp', isn't it? Any possible dirt should be checked out and cleaned out.

No and I am not defending Flynn, as I have stated before,

Perhaps I have misunderstood you. However, when you suggest that he should be hired for a news outfit, it seems that you are willing to overlook his possible security breaches.

I have always admired the man and his tenacity, but maybe he wasn't suited for this job and choosing him for his previous position was a big mistake

It is not the man that is the problem, it is what he has been and is being accused of doing that is the problem. Good people can do bad things, but they still get punished for them. There is nothing wrong with you admiring Flynn for what you see as his past achievements and merits as a person. That is not really the issue. What is relevant is what he did during the campaign this time around.

you learn, you move on and make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

Exactly. Which is why it is important that he is fully investigated. What he did seems to have been illegal and unethical. This should not be accepted and it should not be rewarded. Which leads me to your next comment:

That would be great, if he worked at FNC,

I do not think it is appropriate to reward bad or illegal behavior, at least until he has been fully investigated, cleared of the charges or if he has paid his debt to society if deemed to have been guilty.

Because we don't know the full details,

I agree. That's why it is important to have a full investigation.

but I think there is something bigger involved in all of this and I believe there are serious elements within the Trump admin. leftover from the previous admin. to topple the president,

No, I don't think that is relevant. You agree Flynn did something wrong. I agree he did something wrong. It is not the fault of 'other elements'.

What?! That's GARBAGE. Do you even know what the Logan Act says?

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

So what you say about the president placing trust in a cabinet official does NOT apply, as Trump WASN'T the President at the time, Flynn WASN'T NSA at the time, so he was acting "without authority of the United States" to "influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government... in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States," but more than likely with Trump's prior knowledge and approval.

Did you get all of that? I doubt it, as it doesn't reflect at all well on Trump or Flynn.

He wasn't actually NSA at the time, just a private citizen. That's where the illegality applies.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. The way I wrote what I wrote was way too unclear. Thank you for pointing it out. Instead of writing the Flynn was NSA, I should have wrote former NSA Flynn. It is my opinion that the former NSA commited illegal acts before he became the national security advisor and that him becoming NSA was a further security risk.

NOT left wing whiny opinions, but just the facts! maybe you should start with your dear leader DT, he seems to be the one sprouting opinions and ideas without any actual evidence to back it up.
