There is one constant about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he only opens his mouth to change feet. And when stood side by side with Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, both can synchronize in time to the music, put my left foot in, left foot out, in, out, in, out etc

You have to dig deep, well below the bottom of the barrel, to find anything more insulting to the Dutch than to publicly refer to Holland as the “capital of fascism”......A whole new level of low...They both might as well join Geert Wilders campaign team.

Calling Germany and the Netherlands "Nazi" is beneath shameful and crosses a line no diplomat or politicians would dare crossing.

Germany has accepted its guilt for the crimes of the Nazi and underwent a painful atonement process.

But Turkey still denies the genocide of Armenians it committed and is committing another genocide of the Kurds as we speak. The UN Human Rights Organization just released a report accusing the Turkish military of burning civilians alive in the Kurdish southwest.

The Turkish government should not be allowed in Western Democracies as long as this Murderer and his henchmen are in power. They are a menace to western civilization.

The pot calling the kettle black.

Erdogan also repeated hugely controversial accusations that the Netherlands—occupied by Nazi Germany in World War II—was behaving like fascists in its treatment of Turkish ministers.

Unlike Erdogan who locked up more than 10000 people who opposed him a few months ago, yes mu-da kettle - black.

Germany and the EU hands are tied. Turkey has close to 3 million refugees being cared for on its soil. The deal struck with the EU is the only deal on the table to prevent another crisis reigniting.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will, not for a moment, think twice about using the refugees as bargaining chips to muzzle EU descent, and get his way.

Erdogan, a classic monster who will live on in Erdogamy.

Erdogancacy rules.

(How do you pronounce that 'g' ?)

looks reasonable why Turkish fled Turkey. I'd be surprised if people outside of Turkey would support him at all. Expanding his powers? It's crazy how draconian he's become already. Sadder still its been allowed to stand, such is the blindness of NATO

Looks like Erdogan has taken a page out of the Trump playbook........accuse your detractors of what you yourself are guilty of. He who would be dictator is not afraid to throw stones. Not surprising.

Actually it's liberals who perfected that technique. It was the Obama administration that heralded a 'reset' with Russia, mocked Romney as a Cold Warrior stuck in the 80s, and was caught on mic telling the Russian PM that they would have more 'flexibility' after Obama's re-election. Then, without missing a beat, liberals who had defended these actions suddenly jumped on the neo-McCarythite bandwagon when it came to Trump and any suggestion that Russia wasn't the most evil nation in existence.

Speaking at a rally in the French city of Metz—which was allowed to go ahead—Cavusoglu described the Netherlands as the “capital of fascism”.

America : "Hold my beer."

@lllyas,

when it came to Trump and any suggestion that Russia wasn't the most evil nation in existence.

I think you may just have missed the point by a yard or two! But well done, you managed to get falsehoods, exaggerations, and paranoia into three sentences. Now let's get back to the story. @itsonlyrockandroll is on the money, Turkey realizes it isn't getting admitted into the EU anytime soon, but understands the vital role they play at the end of the garden. Grim times ahead for the people of Turkey I fear

Erdogan is playing a dangerous game here.. The Netherlands and Germany are two of the more liberal and friendly EU countries left, so this is likely to drive public sentiment heavily away from Turkey..

I saw on Twitter this morning trending the hastag #FascistNetherlands or something. I quickly realized it became a sarcastic jab at Erdogan and Turkish nationalists, even though his supporters probably originally started the social media trend. It's clear as day that Erdogan is a dictator, or becoming one. He hunts down journalists, activists, political opposition, and minorities like the Kurds, yet he calls others fascists and nazis? He calls for sanctioning another country? What a joke.

Erdogan is a dictator. His words sound very familiar to the words of the U.S. president.

And, what is up with Flynn being a foreign agent to Turkey and then the DNI?

The WH obviously knew about this before hiring him as the DNI. Flynn's attorney advised Trump's transition team that Flynn would need to retroactively register as a foreign agent. The head of the transition team (Pence) claimed that he had no knowledge until an interviewer asked him about it a few days ago.

The trump comparison to everything you don't agree with is a little old man.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

I thought Twitter was being banned in Turkey. Was that just a one time thing or is that ongoing? Anyway, a hastag assault by Erdogan's ilk will backfire as it will concentrate comments in the EU against him. I hope so anyway.

Dictators can't deal with clever sarcasm. Reminds me of Colbert during the Correspondent's dinner a while ago, and Trump and GOP just stared sitting motionless on what was a hilarious set. Scary humans

@illsay It was the Obama administration

I'm not going to defend the Obama administration. That's history. Trump, Erdogan, Putin, Kim, King Salman etal are today. Talk about them.

From what you've written, it looks like once again Russians (and rightists) are just staying on media attack mode hitting 'liberals' and claiming 'Obama did it', then trying to get the gullibles to believe anything not pro-Russian smacks of McCarty-ism.

Or are you saying that what Erdogan did, i.e. "accuse your detractors of what you yourself are guilty of" is acceptable? What does the Nashi script tell you to say?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

of course france allowed them to stir up unrest on their soil, you can count on it.

itsonlyrocknroll - I hope for Netherland's sake he is elected. Why is it so low to want to stem the tide of Islamification of their own country? Why don't YOU go live in one of Holland's No Go Zones where even Dutch police are avoiding.

Why not send your daughter or wife to go live in one of Sweden's No Go Zones where they have a bigger chance of being raped this week than in Syria?

Europeans are demanding their streets back and I wish them godspeed.

The crook Erdogan uses a "state of emergency" in Turkey to lock up journalists and political opponents: this is identical to Hitler's actions in Germany. So who is the real fascist?

Turkish citizens must obey the law when they travel to other countries. If they enter on a tourist visa they cannot conduct political rallies. I'm certain that if I went to Turkey and tried to hold a pro-Kurd rally I would be immediately arrested and probably tortured too.

Arresting political adversaries, arresting reporters, arresting military officers who had even the most tenuous link to the coup plotters, arresting judges and lawyers... and they call the most laid back people in Europe Nazis? People who were occupied by Nazis and fought for their freedom after their country was ruined by the jackbooted hoards. If anyone is a fascist it's Erdogan.

We bandy around the word "fascist" way too much and mostly not accurately.

We bandy around the word "fascist" way too much and mostly not accurately.

unfortunately it's lost almost all meaning. Liberal virtue signallers casually and irresponsibly throw around terms like fascist, Hitler, racist, etc. as a way to make themselves feel better.

According to these immature idiots, half of the United States, Great Britain, and soon hereafter France and Holland will qualify as Hitler-loving racists.

erdogan is a bigot, and a fascist. his stupid arrogance of trying to dictate to europe will only heighten weariness towards his religion which he forces on people in turkey

“If you let horses, dogs on my citizens you have to be held to account,” he said, referring to dogs, horses and water cannons used by Dutch police to disperse pro-Erdogan demonstrators after clashes in Rotterdam early Sunday.

Beside the fact they are Dutch citizens as well, that they broke through a police barrier (as the area near the consulate wasn't designated as demonstration area, though nearby areas were) and then tried to attack the police when they were retreating and even were kicking police who were down on the ground. I don't think the name demonstrators still fits for them, rioters would be better.

Turkey is NATO's 2nd largest army, once they leave, NATO is all but defunct.

Equipped with old German and American tanks and outdated weapons. Their only real use is strategic... and I rather suspect they'll leave NATO before too long anyway.

Erdogan reaffirmed his accusations from Saturday that the Dutch behaviour over the Turkish visits was “Nazism, fascism”.

The man is a disgrace, to put it politely. It is his behavior that is an issue.

I'm not going to defend the Obama administration. That's history. Trump, Erdogan, Putin, Kim, King Salman etal are today. Talk about them.

Wait a second - Obama whined about what he "inherited" from Bush for eight years. You can be that you will be hearing about Obama's failures for that long as well. How many Syrians were slaughtered while Obama stood by and did nothing???

Turkish citizens must obey the law when they travel to other countries. If they enter on a tourist visa they cannot conduct political rallies.

That's funny. Illegal aliens demonstrate against the government all the time in the US and the political Left would go bananas if it were not allowed. No one cares about the law anymore - it's all about ideology and power.

Now if the Netherlands is a free country with freedom of speech, then legal residents/visa holders should be able to have free speech rights. On the flip side, if the Turkish residents and visa holders living in the Netherlands do not like the political situation they are also free to return home if they wish.

America : "Hold my beer."

Europe: "Hold my Koran."

Turkey is NATO's 2nd largest army, once they leave, NATO is all but defunct.

Doubt it - the size doesn't matter - it's how useful it is.

When's the last time Turkey's army was really used by NATO?

The coalition uses Turkey's air bases for the Middle East, but not their army.

(That's like China, India, and North Korea having the largest armies in the world - but do their sizes really matter except on their own lands?)

UK, Germany, and France have smaller armies, but they're more useful and integral to NATO than Turkey's.

Erdogan is blackmailing EU with Muslim refugees.
