For one thing, it can probably be said with a high degree of certainty that

Ataturk would not approve.

Turkey has always repressed freedom of speech. This is bit of injustice is a shock but no surprise. Avoid Turkey.

HonestDictator:

" Wow, now I see why the EU refused to allow Turkey to join. "

No, alas that project is still on the table for the elitists in Brussels. Only the public democratic resistance against this needs to be overcome, but give it some time. The EU elites just can´t wait to welcome an islamist regime in their midst, with free travel and direct borders to Iran and Syria.

There we go. Gradually, the AKP is rolling back Turkey`s secular laws and turning Turkey into another islamist hellhole. That is what you get you elect islamists to power.

Wow, now I see why the EU refused to allow Turkey to join. Looks like the Islamists are slowly but steadily weeding their way into power.

"They readily point their finger at Syria and Israel and claim Human Rights violations but what about their own backyard."

Agreed, Turkey should desist immediately straffing the protesters outside the courthouse with cluster bombs.

So much for "secular Turkey".

I thought Turkey was supposed to be the model state of Western values in the Middle East.

They readily point their finger at Syria and Israel and claim Human Rights violations but what about their own backyard.

Persecution for religion should be banned globally. Religion is a point of view, an opinion, not an absolute fact. No one should be persecuted for expressing an opinion about religion or any other belief system. Such persecution is little better than the backwards thinking of the inquisition.
