I do not expect any change in the near future. The same as always.
There will be some talks, some meetings going on, but no results - as usual.

North Korea looking for a hand out again in terms of food or vaccines since all their budget goes on the army and developing nuclear weapons.

xamurai, a good example is to look at the immense economic burden West Germany took on when it reunified with the East. That took a generation to overcome. I suppose the gap between the two Koreas is even greater.

Actually, they still didn’t overcome the separation or the reunification and there’s still a lot of hostility and resentment and that wound won’t heal anytime soon. Don’t expect the two Koreas and the North under Kim to reunify peacefully as the current status quo stands. Not in our lifetime

Usually that indicates a quite devastating or at least dramatic economic or corona virus containment situation. Such brainwashed communist dictatorship countries are in general far away from a volatile or flattering behavior. So when they cut the lines , detonate the business center in the special economic zone, use rather unmannered vocabulary against SK or Biden and even deny any communication attempt with the South or the US and now , suddenly without any obvious reason, do a complete contrary step, something severely unexpected or dramatic development must have occurred. I wouldn’t expect substantial talks for now, it looks more like that they urgently need something but can’t say because of not wanting losing their face.

Lil kim is in a tough spot, Covid(which he denies exists in N.Korea) seems to have devastated whatever was left of the economy. There are food shortages and not much help in sight.
S.Korea should see it what it is, a desperate measure that'll not last long!

I am with Sven and ulysses. I don't know what it is but suspect it is Covid and Food and the North is getting desperate.

North Korea always plays good cop bad cop by itself. It's a very good bet that they need something. And they want to establish a relationship before Moon is out of office next year.

As long as the Kim dynasty or hardliners are in power they will always take that behavior, play nicey nice when they need something and step up the rhetoric once they got what they needed. It’s a never ending cycle with him, his dad and his grandfather before him, the West and Washington are used to this game.

Who could have imagined? It appears only Alien invaders and home-grown viruses can make our world live as one! Maybe the message is finally getting through to Koreans North and South. About time, too!

As long as China is in NK ear nothing will change. China does not want the west on their doorsteps!

HEAR! HEAR! Couldn't be better news for the collective people of the peninsula!
China does not have 35,000 combat ready troops of occupation in Bukan. America does in Hanguk and is the most stubborn barrier to the Korean People correcting this 70 year old sin against their collective people. And a restored Korea will be NO ONE'S handmaiden which the U.S. knows well...and, I suspect, China does too.

Since President Joe Biden took office, Pyongyang and Washington have adopted a wait-and-see attitude to relations following the diplomatic roller coaster ride under **Trump that produced three summits but no agreement on dismantling the North's nuclear arsenal.**
The photo needs no words other than 'Job well-done' when looking at the man in the middle.

Two Koreas restore severed communications in surprise thaw
Good to hear.
