Globalwatcher: (it's impossible to teach OUR value to NK as they do not know what humanity is all about.) Are you referring to the values of the US, like legal turture, no due procsess, indefinant detention, above the law CIA, and Ilegal drone assassinations?

LOL, good try. No. There is a natural and universal law in humanity, The laws in each subculture are linked with this natural law. Question, is it okay to murder someone you do not like? If your answer is NO, then why it is NO?

Oh ok, didn't know you were still lurking here. 4 out of 5 curtailed: Obama said that the CIA must obey the military code for interrogations which means no torture, no above the law CIA, due process, and no black sites. This is backed up by the fact that you don't hear about people be whisked away in Europe anymore. 71 detainees are in Guantanamo Bay indefinitely because well, W screwed up, I admit it, but that number is going down not up. In terms of drone assassinations, we love to smoke 'em, I admit. There are some 2,400 killed by drones in the past 5 years, http://www.thebureauinvestigates.com/2014/01/23/more-than-2400-dead-as-obamas-drone-campaign-marks-five-years/ . The issue of this article is NK, however, where some 200,000 are detained and tortured and an unknown number are killed, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisons_in_North_Korea . We can't know for certain because NK doesn't let anyone into their camps whereas the US has let a lot of news organizations into Guantanamo. So I mean, maybe NK is ONLY 10x worse than the US. QED

Scipantheist: I guess you had trouble actually producing any facts to support your claim.

The UN can "confront" all they want, it won´t make a difference. The NK regime will exist as long as China supports it.

The core of U.N. charter is human rights, and any compromise with N. Korea on this issue will show how dysfunctional and lack of credibility on part of U.N. itself. So, stand for your principle in giving little hope to the suffering and brain washed mass of N.Korea by taking serious actions against the mafia ruling elite gangs of Kim's dynasty.

Scipantheist: Curtailed? Drone assassinations have increased, not decreased, even in countries we are NOT at war with. Lack of due process has stayed the same as well as indefinite detentions. Torture is still alive and well, just re-defined by the government. State secret laws haven't curtailed either, so I'm curious of what you're referring to?

The UN. A toothless tiger if ever there was one. Why has it taken them so long, and why now?

The Kim family are absolute criminals and their despotic regimes are responsible for medieval style torture, repression and abuse of the populace. But they've been doing it for decades whilst the world has watched, so what's changed?

The North Korean people are a beacon for the inequity of man. They've suffered for years and the world has just watched it happen. If North Korea was positioned somewhere in Europe, I wonder how things might be different. China, in endorsing this mad kingdom, have shown their true colours as a modern state as well.

A little late for dearest uncle. Yes, send in the Useless Nations at Japan and USA expense. That is who pays the UN bills.

@Stuart hayward 4/5 of those have been curtailed significantly under the Obama administration. The US may be brutal to its adversaries but we do not have millions in concentration camps. False equivalency.

And a fat lot of use it will do...

North Korea, the economic basket case that can't feed its own people and is begging for help on the world's street corners. North Korea is nutty and dangerous and its dictator, Kim Jong-un, takes every opportunity to remind the world of that fact, even if doing so is frequently counterproductive. North Korea continues, to bite the hand that feeds it.

They'll just use it as propaganda internally as to how "persecuted" they are anyway.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

This will achieve nothing as the brutal dictatorship in Pyongyang won't cooperate with the UN

Pointless, what do you think NK's response will be, the UN needs to over throw the Kim dictatorship, either by using violence or subversion, nothing else will work they wont behave in a reasonable manner ever.

It is impossible to teach our value to NK as they do not know what the humanity is all about.
