U.S. accuses China of destabilizing acts in South China Sea !

It is a proven fact by China's bullying actions, not an accuse !

Always good to see a country calling out the Chinese Communist Party on its B.S.

Keep up the good work, Mr. Hagel and Mr. Abe.

US could at least send a warship to the area just for observation instead of tough talk only ; China has no ear.

Does China not want any allies except for Russia and North Korea?

yosun & therougou....

Vietnam began to claim Paracell after 1976 and Philipine did the same thing for Spratly after 1980, these 2 pirates have been doing destabilizing acts and really deserve to be accused.

1976 and 1980. Sounds really current there yosun. Its very difficult to rationalize with people that can make up excuses like this.

Guys, time to go back to school learning some real history lessons fro the real world. I suggest not to learn from those China's sources !.

The real world's history is saying China claimed a naval victory of the Paracel Islands on 19 January 1974 against the South Vietnam government, established control over the Crescent Group of the Paracel Islands... This event marked the beginning of China's conquest of the entire south china sea..

I suggest you to read real history which base on real treaty and history instead of some groundless rumers... According to Taipei treaty signed by Japan, Taiwan(ROC) and witnessed by the US in 1953:

'Article 2 "It is recognized that under Article 2 of the Treaty of Peace with Japan signed at the city of San Francisco in the United States of America on September 8, 1951 (hereinafter referred to as the San Francisco Treaty), Japan has renounced all right, title and claim to Taiwan (Formosa) and Penghu (the Pescadores) as well as the Spratly Islands and the Paracel Islands."'

Why doesn't US use its favorite tool, sanctions, on china? Could it be US is beholden?

"the annual U.S.-led Rim of the Pacific maritime exercise—the world’s largest—with 23 nations, 49 surface vessels, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel taking part. "

How much is this going to cost the taxpayers of these 23 nations?

Hagel said that while the United States does not take sides on rival claims, we firmly oppose any nations use of intimidation, coercion, or the threat of force to assert these claims.

So coercion and threats of force are out, but moving an oil rig into a disputed area or reclaiming land and erecting a military post there or sinking a fishing vessel is OK? Statements like these and the current moves by China in the EC sea dont give the Japanese much assurance should China move closer to the Senkakus.

Despite tough words for Chinas behavior in disputed Asian waters, Hagel also cited efforts to forge a new model of relations between Beijing and Washington, including military cooperation.

How can Hagel's words be described as "tough"?

The US should accuse Vietnam and Philipine of trying to steal isles of Paracell and Spratly from Taiwan (ROC), who recovered sovergienty of these isles after WWII. Vietnam began to claim Paracell after 1976 and Philipine did the same thing for Spratly after 1980, these 2 pirates have been doing destabilizing acts and really deserve to be accused.
