China's military is indeed exapanding at an accelerated rate. But just building weapons looks good on paper but does not make a capable military." I personally believe the US ground forces are done should a war break out with China (or even N Korea for that matter).. basic training is so easy these days compared to other countries. Last I heard, no cussing, whacking recruits up side the head, no touching, has screaming been banned?

Ossan is right. The United States does not pose a threat to China, unless China chooses to invade Taiwan or bully Japan.
While these new Chinese weapons platforms will modify the balance of power in Asia, make no mistake, the United States has such a huge depth of war making potential, with so many different offensive and defensive options on the table, that it would be unwise for any future adversary to overplay their hand.

China's military is indeed exapanding at an accelerated rate. But just building weapons looks good on paper but does not make a capable military. Nothing makes a "capable" military than actual military experience, an area that China supporters are often the first to point out; that the United States leads the world by an enormous margin. So let China build aircraft carriers and see how long it takes to learn how to use them. Historically, Japan is thje only Asian country that ever actually learned to use carriers. Bulid stealth fighters and see how long it takes to learn how to use them. The US was using them in actual combat as far back as 1989.

And who prints more money to pay that debt?

The US poses no threat to China...unless China wants to pose a threat to Taiwan and other Asian nations.

Without Bill Clinton's donation of ICBM tech to China I believe it would have been impossible for China to launch 30 miles off the coast of L.A. and knock out the electronics on that stranded Carnival Cruise liner (electronic pulse weapon)
Then there was the AWACS that we landed in China with no attempt destroy or conceal the onboard systems.

I guess it's time to watch "Dr. Strangelove" a few more times. There will be a stealth aircraft gap, then a missile gap. Heck, there's already a gap in the size of the Chinese army.
The best way to deal with China is to work with them and integrate them into the world economy. Right now it seems that the Chinese leadership thinks that for China to advance others must decline. That is not necessarily the case. For an example, look at Europe after Germany and France were forced to cooperate rather than fight. Improvements in the Chinese standard of living is not at odds with the same improvements in, say, India. The Chinese leadership has to be coaxed into realizing that this is the case.

China is still years behind U.S. capabilities in radar-evading aircraft, and even by 2025 the United States would still have far more such aircraft flying than any other nation in the world, Gates said.
Was that a hysteria reaction after slapped...? Mr Gates!!

Gates said recently he wants to spend more on a new long-range nuclear bomber.....
And who buys the US debts when he lashes out he wants........
just-a-guy
We have to pay attention to them, we have to respond appropriately with our own programs
Thanks to the neo-consevatives who controlled the Bush administration for 8 years made US military power weak and fragile after attritions!

China wanted to field a stealth jet, but development outpaced U.S. intelligence estimates, Gates said.
The US military in Pacific possess a serious threat to Chinese security and of course there needs an urgency to defeat this threat, the B-2A bomber!

OMG! Not China! Hahaha! China and America need each other.

A fake photo of a stealth jet, is just a photo. A real one is hard to create. Photoshop 101

So, adjusted for our affluence, caution, care and red tape, the US is actually moving at a snail's pace in weapons development, right?
Molenir
Er, you also have to keep in mind, that weapons development in the US costs more then it would, anywhere else. Unions, costs, studies, impact statements, paperwork. Everything ratchets up the cost, and take a project that ought to cost a billion or 2, and makes it cost 100 billion. And rather then it taking 5 years to develop, it takes 30.

Don't forget that the US spends more on defence that the entire rest of the world combined. Preparing for Armegeddan? Of course, most of the US military industrial complex is actually just an unemployment program. That shows up in recent results, right?
