What an amazing person...

What a shame. He was never politically correct, spoke his mind, and was never afraid to butt heads with anyone, friend or enemy. The cliche is that someone is irreplaceable, but in this case it might be true.
manfromamerica
he was truly a Friend of Angelo.

What ever happened to freedom of speech? RIP Mr.Holbrooke.

How does that suddenly happen to an artery? Never heard of that. At least he went quickly. RIP

goddog: I think high blood pressure accounts for 2/3 of these illnesses.

hottomales still thinks communism is a GOOD thing...

It is very sad he died and this is a major loss to U.S. diplomacy.
Holbrooke wrote in The Washington Post in March 2008 that "the conflict in Afghanistan will be far more costly and much, much longer than Americans realize. This war, already in its seventh year, will eventually become the longest in American history, surpassing even Vietnam."
His final words were spoken to the surgeon just before his final surgery: "You've got to stop this war in Afghanistan."
His words will come to haunt the Obama Administration and the American people unless they understand what he said and heed them.

LOL. Yeah, one memo, because it supports the views of crypto-socialists, can be taken for gospel. Kennedy and LBJ each had their own reasons for going to and staying in Vietnam.

What, so you could be bigoted toward a different group instead? Sure. That makes lots of sense.
Holbrooke was a hard-working man who did his best for his country and for the world.
manfromamerica
How exactly can the surgeon "stop this war in Afganistan"?
The AP doesn't elaborate on his "ethics investigations".

Manfromamerica, do you understand the word 'you'? It has both singular and plural meaning
ListenTheTruth
@Mc, it seems manfrom was trying to be funny, but seems to have forgotten their manners. Mr Holbrooke, a man who bulldozed and did great things.
manfromamerica
interesting how the professional america haters suddenly love Holbrooke. Will you say the same thing ("a hard-working man who did his best for his country and for the world") when a conservative passes?
the AP just glossed over his ethics issues.

Holbrooke was behind wars that ended up killing several millions of people. He worked hard for certain American corporations, not for America.
You might want to believe he was fighting for freedom and democracy, but most people know better.
History
It would be interesting to see him as the Secretary of State if he ever has that opportunity to become one.

A great man who worked his whole life to bring peace has passed on. Rest in peace and be proud of your accomplishments in this world!
thetruthhurts
No. I am surprised you would be tempted to follow the trend of what most people believe. He was a diplomat. He was a good man. Don't believe the MSM. He tried to make the world a better place.
Taka313
R.I.P. Mr. Holbrooke. You were a great American.

Ok then, what does he mean by those words?
thetruthhurts
Yeah, just like Bill Clinton was.
