If you think about it Pakistan is actually being fairly clever about this. They refuse US requests to conduct a military sweep in this region and protest the attacks thereby not losing face with the anti US people in Pakistan. But by not stopping the US strikes they are getting the troublemakers eliminated for them while anti US resentment grows. All Pakistan then needs to do is sit back and let the US do the dirty work and receive the critisism. Rather cleaver actually.

How can it be justified for the US military to conduct murder in other countries?

Also, where is the justification for this? Pakistani insurgents are not conducting raids into America are they?

Is it not strange that the US never murders any Saudis in Saudi Arabia that are bankrolling the so called militants!

Osama Bin Laden was a Saudi but the US overthrew Saddam Hussein........?

Cletus: If you think about it Pakistan is actually being fairly clever about this.

Pakistan is a schizophrenic mess. I'm not sure "clever" is the right word. Until they pick a direction they will always be one step forward, one step back, and no one will feel satisfied.

All Pakistan then needs to do is sit back and let the US do the dirty work and receive the critisism.

...just like everyone else....

Its simply amazing how much the U.S. has fallen since WWII. Blatant violations of national sovereignty. Cowardly attacks from the air by remote control. Not properly verifying targets. Refusal to apologize for despicable acts. When and where will it stop? Will it?

Let's hope not.

"Cletus: If you think about it Pakistan is actually being fairly clever about this." Pakistan is a schizophrenic mess. I'm not sure "clever" is the right word. Until they pick a direction they will always be one step forward, one step back, and no one will feel satisfied.

And why is Pakistan a mess, could it have something to do with the ethnic breakup of the country the fact that basically one group of people are closely related to the Afghans and they are in general repressed by the government. Not to mention the number of refugees that have come in from Afghanistan after decades of war.

"All Pakistan then needs to do is sit back and let the US do the dirty work and receive the critisism." ...just like everyone else....

Well if you were Pakistan why would you risk civil war with these areas by conducting a crackdown when the US will do the work for you. It makes perfect sense, and if the Pakistani government was so against the US actions then they would be shooting down these drones now wouldnt they.

Pretext for invasion of Pakistan. Why doesn't the UN say boo about it???

I wasn't disagreeing with you Cletus, just noting that the philosophy of "sit on your ass and let the US do the dirty work" is hardly limited to Pakistan.

"Another security official confirmed the attack and casualties, saying the identities of those killed was not known but the area “was known for harboring Uzbek, Arab and other foreign militants”." Just for the sake of accuracy, if the identities of those killed is not known, how do we know they are militants?

Because the US says so. And the US is NEVER EVER wrong.... Much

No they are not conducting raids into America but they are conducting raids on ISAF and Afghan forces in Afghanistan and considering the ISAF is a UN sanctioned mission.....

That is because the Saudi's do it for the Americans. For example Saudi Arabia's attacks into Yemen. What does nationality have to do with anything? You don't go by nationality you go by where the organization is based. It was based in Afghanistan. OBL was not the primary stated reason for why they went to war with Saddam, the primary reason that was stated was that Saddam was not complying with WMD dismantlement UN resolutions.

Blatant violations of national sovereignty. Cowardly attacks from the air by remote control. Not properly verifying targets.

Seeing as Pakistan and US are supposed allies you really can't violate a nations sovereignty during a war, that would be like France complaining about its sovereignty being violated when the Allies launched Operation Overlord. Cowardly attacks please, your only calling them cowardly because the insurgents don't have an effective counter-measure. Seeing as 90%+ of US attacks kill zero civilians.....I would say the US is doing a pretty good job of verifying targets.

Pakistan let Osama Bin Ladin hide in that country, so the USA and the rest of the free world will never forgive nor forget this, kind of like that phone call Mr.Bush made right after 9/11, went something like this...You all with us?? Or against us, if we find out you are not with us yall be blown back into the stone ages by America's latest nuclear weapons...then the president of Pakistan at that time said, sure we are with you...so here we go, but this kind of violence will never solve Pakistan's nor the USA's true problems. Just kind of like a band aid for a person having a heart attack, IMHO.

Pakistan's people AND leadership oppose the US/NATO drone strikes and even this article states the reason as relating to national sovereignty, not that the US really cares.

"Islamabad...has become increasingly vocal about its opposition to the perceived violation of national sovereignty."

Remember that during the civil war in Lebanon (no war is 'civil' in fact), the US was supposedly in a neutral position, but was in fact backing the Israeli invasion and bombarding the Lebanese who were fighting against the invading Israelis. Subsequently, the USMC and French soldiers' barracks were truck-bombed. Yet, the US cried foul?? Wouldn't ANY nations' people rise up against invaders?

In Pakistan and Afghanistan, a similar situation exists. So, is it really surprising that US/NATO forces have been targeted?

The continuing drone attacks will only further inflame the citizens, and will result in increased retaliations.
