(Putin) said he believed Western support for rebels in Arab countries was causing chaos.

He has a point, the former secular leaders in all these countries (Egypt, Libya etc.) kept a lid on Muslim extremism. Now with the Western-backed so-called "Arab Spring", Islamists have been emboldened in these countries and now have significant positions of power in the government.

Obama is asking for more of this by supporting the Islamic rebels in Syria. Even the head of Doctors Without Borders said most of the rebels in Syria that he treated were hardcore fundamentalist jihadists.

Western governments are putting the Muslim Brotherhood in power in these countries and now we're experiencing the backlash, and expect more to come, especially if the jihadists win in Syria and Yemen.

What a mess!!!

I don't like how a con artist, the director of the film, is considered a representative of the U.S. people. This type of situation happened before when the the Dutch cartoonist drew a picture of Mohammad in the newspaper, riots ensued and people killed. So this guy makes a film calling himself a Jewish American only to invoke more hatred against Jews and Americans. Then he goes into hiding with his tail between his legs while Americans are getting killed.

Oh, then this idiot is said to be a Egyptian Coptic Christian then a middle-aged white real estate developer. He is inciting riots and probably sitting back and laughing about this now as it was probably his plan all along.

If they're fully occupied killing each other, they are helping to make the world a better place and I don't see why anyone else should object.

The guy who made the video was able to make his point. That is, Radical Muslims overreact to anything. They also have many self-supporting ideas, which Christianity also has, e.g., believe in Jesus or got to hell.

However, I didn't need his video to inform me of that. Heck, 9/11 was proof enough, although I was already convinced after I saw Taliban executing women for begging. They were begging because the Taliban wouldn't let them work to feed themselves. Therefore, his video was just patting his own back for being sooo insightful.

Unfortunately, he incited idiots (or gave them an excuse to do what they wanted to do in the first place) to kill people actually helping the Libyans. I would also say the movie makers should have known their acts were in reckless disregard for the safety of the military and diplomatic core in harms way trying to do good and get home safe.

That said, the words and actions of one idiot in America do not represent all Americans. If enough people believes this, then we will have unending wars.

Oh, and Romney is an idiot.

The global jihad is alive and active. The prophet Mohammed set examples for Muslims to follow. Islam is a religion, a military force, and government under Islamic faith combined. Islamisation is occurring everyday in many forms including "soft jihad" strategy. These attacks are bound to happen, even at greater scale in the future. The West is trying to avoid, contain Islam problem without any success; basically buying time for inevitable confrontation. Under Obama, The Islamist are doing very well by taking over Egypt, Iran is obtaining nuclear bomb, Syria is in turmoil,.....The world has the right to know in depth, even critically objective about the life and actions of prophet Mohammed. Any act of intimidation and blind acceptance have no place in 21th. century (except many who have no clue). Good Muslim! moderated Muslims must wake up to restore certain credibility and be willing to live with the rest of the world, thus accepting differences. THIS JUST A DREAM.

The people who made that movie should be arrested. The words and actions of one idiot terrorist also don't represent Islam.

Why?

People insult religions every single day. See "Piss Christ", for a good example. But somehow, you believe that Islam gets special protection? Hell No! I don't want to live in a society like that!

On what grounds? Mocking a religion? Better arrest Monty Python too then.

The USA is at war, if a country is at war, it had better take more control of these idiot fools making stupid movies, which I just looked up on YouTube Japan, very, silly, stupid cheap budget movie with the aim of insulting Muslims and Islam. No idea how Muslims can even get angry at such childish stupid attempts by the movie maker to get an angry reaction out of Muslims, which they did, now we have 1 American diplomat dead, or was it 3?? Thanks to the stupid idiot fools who thought it would be funny to make such a hateful movie right in the middle of Mr.Obama's presidential bid for a 2nd term in office.

No one in the US is going to get arrested for making a movie, writing a book or drawing an offensive cartoon. Where does that line of reasoning stop? Who decides what is controversial? How about shows featuring the wonders of bacon? (The Jersey Shore deeply offends me by the way - please arrest everyone involved for being illiterate, tasteless morons.) Everyone needs to stop pretending that is the issue anyway.

Seems that this has been growing for some time. Years ago South Park showed Mohammad and nothing happened. The more publicity these incidents get the more the violence seems to grow and that's not good.

I don't go out and insult or hurt people's feeling on purpose. It shows no morality doing such things be it religion or something else doesn't matter in this case. And as ElBuda said, the result of this action lead to murder. So, they do deserve being arrested. That movie is just so cheap, just watch it, made me puke. Shame on those making such a thing!

Just like the Ecuador Embassy in the UK, embassy soil is foreign soil. They should let people know that people can be shot for invading foreign soil, particularly when invaders are armed with malicious intent.

Shallow analysis. MB didn't attack the American Consulate in Benghazi.

Our support of secular dictators was so effective a restraint on terrorism that it lead us directly to 9/11. That's not a road we should continue to tread.

If the Middle East is to have any hope of righting itself, there must be reform, and reform will not come as long as the dictators retain power. It's really that simple. If that means increased instability in the short run, so be it.

One does not "stay the course" when the vessel is sinking. Moreover, this movement is larger than any on individual actor - even one so great as the world's only remaining superpower. It is not, I would put to you, within our power to reverse this tide, even if we should wish to do so. In that light, you should ask yourself: which side do we want to be on? It would seem that you would have us not only be on the wrong side of history, but have us double down on a losing horse. Assad is finished, it's just a matter of when. When the rebels take control, do you want them to see us a friends or not? You would reduce the entirety of the opposition to jihadists - nuances be damned. Ironically, this prophecy is a self-fulfilling one, because the more aid is withheld, the more the opposition are forced into alliance with militant fundamentalist groups.

The chickens are coming home to roost.

A policy of non-intervention is the best. Now, however, the hornet's nest has been kicked one time too many, though this time by some yokel with a crap amateur hate video.

The only form of government that Western countries have the right to support are pluralistic democracies, which are by definition secular, anywhere.

There is no justification for a so-called realpolitik compromise of one's values in 90% of the cases, because it usually is undertaken for corruption and power, not as an expedient means aimed toward achieving a greater good in the future.

I'm sure many wife-beating husbands say the same thing.

Shame on them, certainly. But they won't be arrested because it was their right to express their (reprehensible) opinion, whatever the consequences.

The film may have provoked violence and murder, but it certainly didn't justify them. It's important to keep in mind who are the real culprits here.

(And, honestly, the attack on the consulate in Benghazi was far too organized to have been a reaction to the film; it was clearly a pre-planed terrorist attack which took advantage of the demonstrations. In that sense, the film really has nothing to do with the murder of the ambassador and his colleagues, though it was certainly responsible for the angry crowds raiding embassies elsewhere.)

Violence, well, against other Muslims. It is far too easy to find hateful and violent scriptures in the Quran and other Muslim holy scripts. It's not just the religion that's the problem, it's the way these people are led to blindly believe and adhere to the religion. In the Old Testament there is a death penalty for acts of homosexuality, but yet in Israel, there are gay parades. Do you see the difference? The practice is seen as barbaric and thus not followed. This in not the case in Islam where it is often followed to the letter.

A good example of a person pushing his/her agenda into a topic when it doesn't really fit.
