“I think there is some admission (among some Iraqis) that it was a mistake for us to leave.”

I think there is an admission (among most Iraqis) that it was a mistake for the US to have invaded Iraq.

And there are Americans who want an even bigger, more powerful and more expensive military?

US: bring your forces home. Protect your own borders - none of which are anywhere near MENA nations. Develop your own alternatives to petroleum; find ways to rely less on it. Develop materials created by using resources found on your lands. Use your resources to look after your own people.

Never ever forget the Republican party screamed over the top of everyone to make this mess. The whole region and even world order has become engulfed in the flames of George W Bush's doctrine and will burn brightly for decades to come.

That said, I really hope the Iraqi army with the help of the US can defeat the monsters that spawned after March 2003. The people of Iraq deserve some success and some peace from the madness.

"I know my father never thought I would be coming to Iraq," Snow said." (13 years after Snow's father had fought there.) ... ... Welcome to endless war, folks. Is this now the "right war", to quote President Obama, or does that still only apply to Afghanistan? Get ready for the next "right war" coming next January 20 to a theater near you.

Obama has had EIGHT YEARS (thats the length of US involement in WW2 and the Korean war combined) to sort out the US involvement in this mess. And now, god help us, Hillary is looming as next president.

Yes they are and for what?

Ask yourself this. Why haven't they build 1.7 meter high checkpoint's around gov buildings to stop cc bomb attacks?

Why haven't they build cement blast wall pop up pole checkpoints for, that stop troops being put on the spot and inside fighting?

America won the battle and zero America troops died in the last years of the Iraq war.

The CIA sabatge the last Iraq war strategies because the real Iraq war strategist walked like a poof. It's why the never did the top 2 strategies.

With U.S troops on the ground, this war would have be over real fast.....ISIS war.

I think there is an admission (among most Iraqis) that it was a mistake for the US to have invaded Iraq.

Probably depends on who's asked.

For the Sunnis, they'd say it was a mistake. They lost power, and most of the instability are on their lands in North and West Iraq.

For the Shiites, maybe. On the one hand, they have to worry about car bombs in Baghdad. On the other hand, they gained power, and most of their lands are stable in South and East Iraq.

For the Kurds, they're glad. They gained much autonomy; their lands on NorthEast Iraq are stable, and they no longer had to worry about Saddam.
