The American government loves the public to live in constant fear don't they. Anything to justify their ridiculous DEFENSE spending, invasion of piracy act (some call it the patriot act) and keep the public scared.

Is this Operation Blackjack that everyone is talking about? Hope it's a dud.

Maybe the "New World Order" or former Pres. Bush have dusted off those giant holograms of Jet-planes crashing into skyscrapers and are ready to unleash them on NY again. That's what the conspiracy theorists told me anyway...

"intelligence"?? what intelligence, George Wimpy Bush? or Barack Horseface Obama? stop publishing vague unofficial articles and scaring innocent citizens, go and investigate the truth! what if there were no plans of attacking?? i'm european, but if i were an arab and saw this shitty false insulting article about my people, i would be insanely pissed. it's time to stop making up news and being the drama queen, america. in case you forgot, Japan lost 20,000ppl in the 3.11 tsunami, Irag lost around 10,000ppl (without soldiers; during Bush's "investigation for nuclear weapons" aka plans for stealing oil), Vietnam lost 3million innocent citizens in the vietnam war (without including soldiers), etc and how many did the us lose again? oh yeah, i remember 3,000. and also do keep in mind that the wars in iraq and vietnam were cause by YOU americans. i wonder who's the real terrorist; the ones who killed 3000 people to get back the land that was irrationally stolen from them, or the ones who killed millions of people just for personal ambitions? :) oh and btw, 9.11 was a fraud. it was all set up by the fbi and the government in order to be able to falsely blame the arabs and indirectly get access to oil and become rich. if you don't believe me read the book "The 9/11 Conspiracy". it will teach you that 9.11 was not a "terrorist attack", but a big fat american lie. it's a legal FACT that the whole world knows so DEAL.WITH.IT

Sure - sounds pretty credible. You neglected to mention those Jet-plane holograms, though!

@ Elisa Vina Hayas - ha ha! So according to you, the moon landing was all a fake too?! Please regale us with more of this hilarity on JT - it has been tough recently here in Japan and we do appreciate the light comedy.

The odds of getting killed by a terrorist in the United States is far lower than people think. Now if you want something dangerous, try riding in or diving a car, not only the accident rate, but car jacking. Then if you live in a city, try the possibility of walking into a crime scene, particularly in one of our convenience markets late at night. Then there is always the chance of getting shot by one of our street gangs or even the police.. forcible home break in is another possibility.Even dying by accident in your home, has a higher possibility, or by medical misadventure in one of our hospitals. Dying from family violence is more likely. So if none of these things scare you that much, I would hardly worry about terrorists.

As for 9/11, I only wonder why they only used jet airliners once and then went back to car and truck bombs.

My guess is that the people who are calling this threat a hoax are the same people who are claiming that the US creates most of the terrorists in the world. I guess we're just creating terrorists who don't actually try to plan out attacks.

One horrific act like 9/11 would be enough each decade - or even a 20 year stretch would still be a fundie triumph against US targets. They're capable of vomitting up an attrocity without the US pulling off crazed-assed shit like the carnage caused by the mission in Iraq, and they do it on a relatively small scale budget with skeleton staff to boot. Airlines are a red herring. They'll be after a soft target with mass-casualties some other way thab airplanes, mark my words...

Christopher has a point, more likely to get shot and or killed by being at the wrong place at the wrong time in a horrible part of any BIG CITY USA but let us not forget on 9/11 we got real, real lucky. If AQ had also brought DIRTY BOMBS, you know suitcases with radioactive material etc..NYC and that area would be worse than Fukushima is now with stupid Tokyo Electric! So, all the terrorists need is to get LUCKY, just get LUCKY ONCE, say already be working in an American or European nuclear power plant, pretend they love that country etc..say they want to work a few extra hours even for free, let others go home, and then rig the power plant to have a melt down etc..the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, Interpol etc..have already come up with these horrible ideas, and they found the Osama Bin Laden was thinking and instructing his disciples to attack the USA etc..FROM THE INSIDE, so sure maybe more scary to drive with a teenager blahbing away on his or her cellphone and texting while weaving in and out of traffic on I 5 etc..but would anybody here like to be on the same flight with AQ??? Blood thirsting criminals who have been brainwashed into believing that by killing US, non Muslims etc..they will automatically have 70?? hot chicks, hot virgin babes up in AQs version of heaven?? As for me?? Hell no! I want the 7,70 or 7000 hot babes now! Not after I am dead, blown up to pieces etc..and I certainly do not want to die along with fools that believe this kind of BS. So RIP poor victims of 9/11 and for those b.astards of AQ well enjoy burning in hell for all of eternity!

What a load of horse pucky. I know this guy is being off topic, and I'll get back soon, but just where do these lame accusations come from? Crime in the USA has been steadily falling for over a decade. Get some facts before hurling your breakfast.

The FBI and Homeland Security Department issued a joint intelligence bulletin Thursday night to law enforcement around the country urging them to maintain increased security and be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

And just what does suspicious activity look like? Seriously, the Bush/Cheney era neo-nazi paramilitary organization (???) known as Homeland Security has got to go. FBI? Well, they can stay, but stop being the bootlicker to HS.

If I were a terrorist, reading all this, I would target small town "white bread" USA where everyone has a gun rack and thinks Bush was a great president and the Tea Party has good policies. That would certainly send some shockwaves.

Many people are so insistant that something isn't real until it happens to them in REALITY. And of course by then its usually too late. Fact is unless someone is actually caught, or an act of terrorism does succeed then it will all be taken as, "Oh they're just fear-mongering."
