I would think if you make a potential damaging allegation you have a way to prove it.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

If true, the allegations mean Moscow is playing a more direct role in the fighting than it has been accused of up to now — a dangerous turn in what is already the gravest crisis between Russia and the West since the end of the Cold War.

Obviously Putin is really concerned about the potential fallout from MH 17, and more sanctions. Hate him all you want, and I detest the man, the fact is that he has been one or two steps ahead of Obama and the West for months.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

No, Putin does not care. The satellite image is confirming that he is still moving tons of weapons to the border. And nobody are stopping him. This guy is an evil.

You seem care less about civilians in Eastern Ukraine. Ukranian "armed forces" are bombing them everyday and killing. But you do care about Putin and "tons of weapons, moving to the border". If it is a true information, Putin does it right. It's a high time, in my humble opinion. The bloody junta from Kiev MUST be stopped and people of self-proclaimed Loughansk and Donetsk People Republics must be protected.

That's because Obama is spineless *****. Had he a pair, he could have been a leap year ahead of Putin, but this guy is totally inept.

@sidekick

Yeah, riiiiight.

bass -- really. And EXACTLY what should he have done? As you are no doubt aware, the U.S. has no mutual defense agreement with the Ukraine, and Ukraine is not part of NATO, so please enlighten us all on what would have been feasible, instead of just spewing nonsense. Should he have sent weapons which could have easily fallen into the wrong hands? Please, since you are such an expert on military issues, fill us in.

1 ( +4 / -4 )

That's because Obama is spineless *****.

So you think that he should have brought American troops into the area and invaded?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

My suggestion of operatives of the Russian government posting here copiously, with one particular active poster named, was taken down by the moderator under the claim that I was offending another user. I wonder how somebody who persistently and consistently represents positions of the Russian government could be offended by suggestion of association with the Russian government.

@Jersey and Strange

No, I believe the Ukraine should have been brought into NATO along time ago IMHO. It's not nonsense, it's perfectly reasonable and feasible, if his majesty would have sat down with the leaders of Ukraine and would have negotiated a way to bring them in or at least submit a request for membership and since we practically pay for the funding of most of NATO, why not? That would have been the best thing for the country. Even Putin had a feeling that, that is something that the US might do, so he probably thought to cut them to the quick and take Crimea (as a start) to bring it closer to the sphere of influence to Russia's arms. Also, I never said, I was a military expert, but many of you liberals claim to be, I guess. And NO, I am not calling for an invasion, you don't need to do that to bring a point across or to arm an ally.

Obama is not spineless. He is earning his Nobel Peace Prize, 5 years out.

Bass -- it is nonsense. Where have you been the last five months? Germany won't even back tough sanctions because they get 1/3 of their natural gas/oil from Russia, and sell a hell of a lot of BMW's and Mercedes there. Plus there is not even a stable government in Kiev. There is no possible way they could have been admitted to NATO. And, even if they were, after George W's two forays into Iraq and Afghanistan, the American people have no stomach for putting any more U.S. servicemen in harms way half-way around the world. And Putin knows that. Respectfully, Obama does not even have the cards to bluff with. As much as I hate to admit it, Putin has played a masterful game of chess here, going back several years. He stepped aside for Medvedev for a few years and allowed him to show a more friendly face to the West. Which, of course, gave the countries in Europe, like Germany, a false sense of security, so they jumped at the readily available Russian gas and oil, and now he has them by the short hairs. And he is pursuing his agenda with basically no serious repercussions. Give him credit for his brilliance.

But I'm only pointing that out because Putin paid me to go on Japan Today and express my thoughts on this globally significant forum.

Next time when you meet him or his leutenants, please ask for my humble person. I'd like to be in a team too.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I want to join team too. I can post Japanese on 2ch. Please tell mr Putin

Back on topic please.

Declarations of a conflict of interest, such as being a Russian government operative, is what can streamline the discussion. Many small forums add up to one big forum, so there is no surprise that operatives would be send out to the former.

The USA having signing the agreement should back up the Ukraine government. It is why they gave up their nukes. This sets a precedence that these agreements are worthless. The USA went back on its word for Libya and now Ukraine. Why should Iran or North Korea give up their nukes for an agreement? Since it is clear Russia is attacking the USA should send in military forces to back the Ukraine government. If not Russia will take the entire Ukraine and then push on to take more. Did the USA learn anything from WWII? If Putin is not stopped now the world is on its way to WWIII or the second atomic war.

Since it is clear Russia is attacking the USA should send in military forces to back the Ukraine government.

First of all, it's "new government of Ukraine" who is attacking civilians in Eastern Ukraine. Crimeans escaped a civil war by joining Russia. Otherwise they would have the very same mess now. If you are so keen of US troops, just enjoy them at Okinawa. The Ukraine is not a backyard of the USA.

I have a politically incorrect burning desire to send a drone over Putin's head. I know all of you think I am crazy, well I have studied this guy like a hawk, and I am convinced he is really bad.

I have a politically incorrect burning desire to send a drone over Putin's head. I know all of you think I am crazy,

Actually, I think you aren't crazy. Perhaps, you dislike Putin for certain personal reasons. When I compare Obama to Putin, I see a tall, semi-educated black guy without any significant knowledges of history, geography (easily can confuse Iraq to Iran) and geopolitics. Putin is well-educated (speaks German very well), he keeps himself in good physical condition.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Obama being a semi-educated black guy?

Obama is a Harvard Graduate Phd and was a professor of Constitutional Law.

Putin is well-educated (speaks German very well), he keeps himself in good physical condition.

Well, we do not judge people over what he/she accomplished in life, instead we judge people who he/she is to himself and others.

1) You know he is against LGBT. I am not a gay, but this is a total violation of human rights #101.

2)Russian journalists have been murdered by Putin and many still live in fear. He is a former KGB chief. He is not afraid to use all KGB tools to keep Russian journalists very quiet. There is no freedom of press in Russia.

3) He is distributing weapons to many parts of world including Syria and Ukraine. He is not for any peace talks.

Sidekick the Ukraine is attacking irregular troops backed by Russians. In fact a lot of the "rebels" are Russian nationals and are following Putin's orders. They shot down a civilian airliner killing almost 300 people. Putin is as cold as a snake and as treacherous as Lucifer.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Obama is a Harvard Graduate Phd and was a professor of Constitutional Law.

It sounds great ! And this Harvard Graduate PhD used to say the following :

Earlier this month in Oregon, he redrew the map of the United States: Over the last 15 months, we have traveled to every corner of the United States. I have now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.

Earlier this month in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Obama showed off his knowledge of the war in Afghanistan by homing in on a lack of translators: We only have a certain number of them, and if they are all in Iraq, then it is harder for us to use them in Afghanistan. The real reason it is harder for us to use them in Afghanistan: Iraqis speak Arabic or Kurdish. The Afghanis speak Pashto, Farsi, or other non-Arabic languages.

I can not imagine that Putin would make such a childish misstatements.

1) You know he is against LGBT. I am not a gay, but this is a total violation of human rights #101.

I am not a gay too. Still, there are countries and even big regions on our planet where people are against LGBT because of religious or cultural traditions. I see no problem at all with it.

2)Russian journalists have been murdered by Putin and many still live in fear. He is a former KGB chief. He is not afraid to use all KGB tools to keep Russian journalists very quiet. There is no freedom of press in Russia.

Do you personally know any of Russian journalists who "still live in fear"? Besides, are you aware how many Russian (and foreign) journalists have been recently killed in the Ukraine? You may check for Commitee for Protecting Journalist's web site.

3) He is distributing weapons to many parts of world including Syria and Ukraine. He is not for any peace talks.

The USA sells weaponry everywhere too. Is Obama better, than Putin by that criteria?

the Ukraine is attacking irregular troops backed by Russians. In fact a lot of the "rebels" are Russian nationals and are following Putin's orders.

Those pro-Russian rebels declared independence from the Ukraine. In particular, they strongly disliked some rules, declared by "new Ukranian government". The junta from Kiev tried to forbid them to speak on Russian language on their territory ( Eastern parts of the Ukraine). Were they worse than, say people of Kosovo? Besides, Catalania vows for independence from Spain, Scotland calls for Independence from the UK. But the "new Ukranian government" began to attack the population of Donetsk and Loughansk regions. . Rebels are fighting back now and it's quite normal. They have to defend their soil from aggressive attacks.

They shot down a civilian airliner killing almost 300 people

This is a totally irresponsible statement. Still, there are no any solid evidences that Putin or pro-Russian rebels were involved in that crime.

Sorry the main point :

East Ukrain mostly has a RUSSIAN population

Yes - it is so

They are citizens of Ukraine BUT they are Russian

So new " democratic" government of Ukraine start ethnic cleansing

Ukraine for Ukrainian

Dozens of towns destroyed by artillery and aircraft

Tens of thousands of residents of south east Ukraine fled to Russia
