U.S. says Syria likely used chemical weapons against rebels

To Hell with Syria. It's not America's nor anyone else's responsibility to police the world. As a country us Americans have to take care of our own problems first before we can sucessfully assist others.

Well, now what? Members of both parties have used words like "unacceptable" "game-changer", and "red line". Now that the line has clearly been crossed, (spare me the "war monger" clap trap. America wants another Middle East war like I want to try natto again.) what will we do?

I understand the "not the world's cop" isolationist bent, but who else will step up to the plate? The Russians? The Euro-intelligencia? If history is any guide (apart from France and Britan's Libya operations), they will click their tongues, say "what a shame. Somebody ought to do something" and then order another latte and turn to the sports section. People will talk about dialogue and restraint while Assad takes a cue from his dad and uncle Saddam and murders even more women and children with sarin.

Mr. Obama, words have meanings (and consequences). Even if you opened your mouth and put your foot in it, you did indeed open your mouth. Time to step up to the plate, Mr. President.

Was inevitable that we would get these "intelligence reports" indicating use of some "unacceptable" weapon. Even if US doesn't put troops in, gives them the green light to arm the rebels and start droning the Government. Why US can't just leave people alone to sort out their own mess escapes me. Syrai will end up like Iraq - best we just let them get on with it.

@deplore, there's a difference between reading the press release and taking every word as gospel truth. The quote, "she said(claimed) it was based IN PART on physiological samples" isn't very compelling. I don't care to bash Israel, but neither do I care to blindly accept this unverified evidence.

My point stands: Why should America, or anyone for that matter, be dragged into another Mid-East quagmire? Where in the Constitution does it say for America to have over 740-plus foreign bases or to start wars half a world away?
