To Hell with Syria. It's not America's nor anyone else's responsibility to police the world. As a country us Americans have to take care of our own problems first before we can sucessfully assist others.

Well, now what? Members of both parties have used words like "unacceptable" "game-changer", and "red line". Now that the line has clearly been crossed, (spare me the "war monger" clap trap. America wants another Middle East war like I want to try natto again.) what will we do?

I understand the "not the world's cop" isolationist bent, but who else will step up to the plate? The Russians? The Euro-intelligencia? If history is any guide (apart from France and Britan's Libya operations), they will click their tongues, say "what a shame. Somebody ought to do something" and then order another latte and turn to the sports section. People will talk about dialogue and restraint while Assad takes a cue from his dad and uncle Saddam and murders even more women and children with sarin.

Mr. Obama, words have meanings (and consequences). Even if you opened your mouth and put your foot in it, you did indeed open your mouth. Time to step up to the plate, Mr. President.

Here we go again...some "intelligence" seems to possibly indicate some chemical weapons may have been used on a small scale likely by Assad-backed or supported characters based on an allegation by an Israeli general. Deja vu?

Was inevitable that we would get these "intelligence reports" indicating use of some "unacceptable" weapon. Even if US doesn't put troops in, gives them the green light to arm the rebels and start droning the Government. Why US can't just leave people alone to sort out their own mess escapes me. Syrai will end up like Iraq - best we just let them get on with it.

It's as if you didn't even read the article. In fact

which she said was based in part on “physiological samples,”

I know you didn't. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a chance to bash Israel.

@deplore, there's a difference between reading the press release and taking every word as gospel truth. The quote, "she said(claimed) it was based IN PART on physiological samples" isn't very compelling. I don't care to bash Israel, but neither do I care to blindly accept this unverified evidence.

Nope, Surf. I think we learned our lesson. The new attitude is, "screw 'em, let them die." The world will like us a lot better now.

Nope, SuperLib.

" The world will like us a lot better now."

The genie's out of the bottle, and she isn't Barbara Eden.

It takes one to know one.

Your turn.

Anyone without a dumbass anti American viewpoint can understand why nobody is keen to get involved in this particular quagmire ....

If anyone should be getting the damned if you do/don't flak it should be the Russians.

“I think it’s pretty obvious that a red line has been crossed,” McCain said. What exactly IS this 'red line'. Is it selling chemical weapons to Saddam Hussain so he can murder thousends of Iranians, like the American did, or is it using depleated uranium shells in Iraq, like the Americans did, or maybe its using phosphorus chemical weapons in Gaza, like the Israelies did. The hypocracy of the American government is stunning.

I love how so many people on here vote down comments that doesn't consist of left-wing talking points.

My point stands: Why should America, or anyone for that matter, be dragged into another Mid-East quagmire? Where in the Constitution does it say for America to have over 740-plus foreign bases or to start wars half a world away?

Jeff, it's even worse if you oppose both the left AND right(neocon) talking points.

No declaration of war has been made since WWII. But that hasn't stopped the empire from getting embroiled in undeclared wars. The bi-partisan urge to embroil the soldiers in another adventure appears overwhelming.

You mean the one quote by John McCain and Feinstein is overwhelming?

SuperLib, just watch Obama lead into it.
