Even just a few years ago this headline would have caused an outrage. How quickly so-called "free" people have allowed their governments to spy on them 24/7. But what I find most alarming are the people who aren't concerned about it and even some who think it is a good idea. Probably the same people who thought the Soviets were the Evil Empire for..........., well, spying on their own citizens.

OK, if you can come up with another way to catch criminals, let's have it, please. Until then I say let's catch the criminals.

Its always, were doing it for your safety, to catch crims, to protect from terrorism, its for your convenience, it will save you money, and so forth but they always abuse it. One idea would be they could always employ more and pay the law enforcement officers who put their real lives at risk every day to try and resolve real problems instead of watching people by wire.

In that case you should publish all your personal details so we can all see every thing you do including your internet history, all your digital photos and bank balances etc, because nothing you do is wrong. Do you now see the flaw in that logic? Its a clear infringement on your right to basic privacy and thousands of lives are not going to be threatened by the lack of this kind of surveillance, on the contrary, it always gets abused.

The title of the article is tad misleading. Like Fadamor said it simply captures phone unique identifier along with it's location.

All it's doing with the general public is recording location along with the phone ID. They aren't going to do an actual intercept of the calls/data unless they have identified a specific target. Can you imagine the incredibly huge amount of drivel they would have to sift through if they were recording EVERYTHING?!
