We go after ISIS, the Russians go after the more moderate rebel groups and Assad is the declared winner. Putin's playing chess and he's very good at it.
CrazyJoe
Russia went to Syria to stop the spread of ISIS. And Russia is doing an excellent job at it with Assad and Iran.
genjuro
How ironic. The US was the one who started and is funding ISIS as well as other rebel groups in Syria in the first place. It's so hell-bent on destabilizing Syria and Assad's government. Meanwhile, Russia who has been officially invited to help Syria, is the one which has been effectively and successfully eliminating ISIS with their precision airstrikes. The war-mongering US is, as usual, full of crap.

Funny isnt it Obama that financing terrorists and leaving Europe to clean up your mess and that of other Islamic nations of spreading terrorists and destablising nations because they wont fall in line with your intrests isnt working out for you.
Sorry but Russia is the Hero of the Hour and America should stop financing Dictator regimes and supplying weapons to terrorits.
nath
America should just get out of the Middle East altogether. Complete abandonment. Buy oil from Canada and S. America.
Wc626
For crying out loud, look at the incumbent president. No wonder.
Putin is a far better leader than barrack hussien obama. Obama lacks balls.
ThePBot
Or just buy oil from within the US. They have plenty of that. Gas too.
Wolfpack
Oh my, now Putin has gone and done it. Obama is "frustrated". A "red line" is sure to come now. It won't be long before Obama drops the hammer on the Russian bear. The allies will be summoned and a call for Congress to authorize airstrikes will soon follow.
But of course there is a good chance that Obama will get cold feet and decide to take a walk around his mansion on Pennsylvania Ave. He just might come to the conclusion that he isn't really all that frustrated after all. He will likely decide to invite the Russians to engage in Syria again just as he did right before Putin ordered his first set of airstrikes against the US backed rebels. Putin, as usual, will probably be in a dealing mood. He will promise Obama just enough to make him believe he came out on top. Obama may even feel generous and throw in a few billion dollars in frozen assets from some Russian companies who had their assets frozen for breaking UN sanctions for reason or other. Then in six months to a year Putin will do whatever he wants anyway and Obama will have to decide if he wants to be "frustrated" again or ignore the violations just as he has been ignoring Iran's numerous violations of the deal he made with them.
Yeah, Obama's frustration must have Putin scared silly.

syria has become a grid lock of foreign powers each with its agendas, the peace probably will come when there's no one left to kill. what a f* sad world

I seriously doubt this is happening considering the amount of bad blood between Kurds and Assad. Kurds in the region are being harassed by all governments in the region.
badsey3
The Kurds are being openly shelled by Turkey right now so it makes sense to side with Syria, Iran and Russia right now.
With the supply lines cut to Turkey right now it will only be a matter of weeks before the "rebels" get truly desperate. Obama/nato/Turkey are really sabre-rattling after the rebel oil $$$ going into Turkey was cut. =They need funding and supplies now, but will money be enough to keep this war going.
Wakayama Mama
It's not so much that the US wants the oil; they don't want others to get it and they want all oil to be sold in USD.
Yeah, that is a complete list.
bass4funk
Among other things.....
You also forgot to add to that, fortitude, will and a lack of wanting to engage terrorists or terrorism itself.

Syria is another Vietnam for U.S.
nath
Nah, Iraq was another Vietnam (worse even).
ThePBot
Russia will definitely "Put in".............
FizzBit
Lol

The U.S. policy of stand off wars was created because of the U.S. public's distrust of U.S. policy makers, i.e., Republican policy makers. That distrust came about as a result of the Republican's "trump"ed up war on Iraq, which unbalanced the whole region.
Now, you want to blame a President who is hamstringed by the do nothing Senate and go against public opinion. Oh yea, that is the Republican position on everything, disregard the electorate and do nothing if you can't have your way, oh and lie and point fingers.
FizzBit
Not really. Anyone who isn't brain dead knows that 9/11 was staged. So everything after is also staged. Including Ukraine, and Syria, and Libya, and on and on and on......
Fadamor
This article doesn't attribute "put up or shut up" to any individual, but other news outlets attribute it to Mark Toner. Mr. Toner needs a new occupation because the State Department and its employees should NEVER be telling another country to "shut up". Their whole reason for existence is to OPEN dialogue, not shut it down.
Alex Einz
ahmm, US is most definitely not fighting ISIS ... they have absolutely no reason to..

Not enough Libs here to support the "rebels" aka "McCain's Army." I will take the (hard) Lib stance on this since I understand the Lib mindset very well:
They only way we can help the people of Syria is by destroying it (Assad) and making chaos. Thru the chaos we can get the people off the land and get this new pipeline built. We will use many armed hateful groups to destroy each other. We will use the civilians as human shields in the war and also the propaganda. The end will justify the means, so we must do whatever it takes to reach final resolution. In the end we will have total control. People that are against this control must be eliminated. The new Syria will be built in our filthy image. We cannot be stopped so it would be better to bow down to us now. We are your friend.
