I hope the people of Iran can get the chance to overthrow their dictatorship like the other Arab countries recently. I'm afraid however, he would have them wiped out faster than they could succeed.

SSDD.

UN headquarters should be converted to a hockey stadium.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Why does the headline only mention the US when over 30 countries walked out?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

United Nations? Not much uniting at this assembley

3 ( +4 / -1 )

If the Austrailian and New Zealander s and the 27 EU members also got up turned their backs and walked out on the crazy Iranian Achmahdinjihad the headline could use some rewriting.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

They call themselves Persians, but they are just Arabs. So are the Palestinians. I do not see him accepting Palestinian refugees at all. The dude is a loser and dresses in girls panties during formal dinners while eating with his hands.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Such "duplicitous" behavior on the part of President Ahmadinejad is confusing for those seeking to understand what exactly he is trying to accomplish by making such public statements that are so vastly different from those he makes behind the scenes at private gatherings.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The USA, instead of walking out like babies, cry babies, maybe, just maybe should actually try to listen to this guy,

@mexico for what point? all this whack job is trying to do is provoke the US. Wanna have another war so you can blast the US some more? Everyone btches about the US and wants them out...well really what would happen if that took place? Historical examples shows us, massive world war.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

This idiot isn't worth listening too!

2 ( +5 / -3 )

"His points of accusations are Quit reasonable."

yeah. except for the fact that the ONLY countries in the ENTIRE WORLD that offer as the most possible human rights are ALL the ones he is $$$$ing on.

freedom doesn't come cheap. Military and political leaders have been saying that since the dawn of democracy!

whoever agrees with this guy, go live in Iran! Why don't you take a hike in their wonderful mountains and see how you like an Iranian prison. Why don't you go live in China. If you post the wrong thing on Twitter you might get a hood over your head and thrown in a secret prison accused of tax evasion.

You take your freedom for granted. and I feel very sorry for you.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Who cares what Ahm-in-a-jihad says?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Mr Ahmed I can't pronounce ur name, next time, just tell them to get out before you begin your speech. The truth hurts.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

This man can inflict great harm and has proven himself time and again dangerous to his own people! this person was one of the Hostage takers at the U.S.Embassy.if given the means I feel this person could begin a world war-think about it.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

It's stuff like this that lends credence to my assertion that the U.N is quite possibly the largest, most expensive circus ever known to man. Between Gaddafi's four hour irrational rants (thank goodness I don't have to listen to one of those again) and the annual aimless tangent from the good folks of Iran it's gotten to the point where it isn't even entertaining to watch anymore.

UN headquarters should be converted to a hockey stadium.

Sound plan. Finally, something important can happen in that spot.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Maybe Iran should listen to the United States too, hahaha!

Like that's gonna happen.

"American diplomats led a walkout at the U.N. General Assembly Thursday as Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad fiercely attacked the United States and major West European nations as “arrogant powers” ruled by greed and eager for military adventurism."

How many countries did the US invade since 2000? Iraq, Afghanistan; it's bombing parts of Pakistan and Yemen; it is still bombing Libya. Iran hasn't invaded anyone in 200 years. But the US armed Saddam to attack Iran; the USS Vincennes shot down iIR4655 in 1988 and had no justification for it, killing all those civilians. They gave US captain a medal.

"The Iranian president answered by calling for “the shared and collective management of the world in order to put an end to the present disorders, tyranny and discriminations worldwide.” Last year, he said “the future belongs to Iran” and challenged the U.S. to accept that his country has a major role in the world."

In other words Iran is saying the UN should no longer have a security council which can veto the majority of the world's population, the way the US is preventing Palestine from becoming a member. Iran is doing what Chavez, Morales and most countries support: democtatisation of the UN instead of it being controlled by the US and Europe.

Iran is correct about slavery too.

Last time he gave a speech like this it was met with huge applause from other countries; we should ask why.

Iran is not innocent and they do stop protests - brutally. But then again the US executes Troy Davis, jailed over 700 innocent at Guantanamo - including a 14 yr-old boy - and killed millions in Iraq with its sanctions and wars. Yes, Iran has problems, but its atrocities pale in comparison.

Oh, and US support for that brutal murderer he Shah is telling. He killed far more Iranians - as if the US cared - than Achminidijad ever did. The US invited him to the White House and gave him a nuclear weapons programme. Who are the Japanese to comment? Shall we discuss the 10-13 million Chinese they murdered from 1937-1945? Human rights indeed!

1 ( +5 / -4 )

The guy is a lunatic. It's a shame, because a few of his points are valid, but then he undermines them with so much rubbish and rhetoric that it's impossible to do anything BUT walk out (or find some other way to drown it out).

1 ( +3 / -2 )

And, of course, since Japan needs Iranian oil, its delegates sat and listened to this venemous crap. Australia and NZ had the guts to walk out, but not Nippon.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

If you are a member of the UN, you sit and you listen when others talk. It should be a requirement. Nobody says you have to agree or like it. Just sit there and be respectful to the nut...erm, I mean president of Iran.

Thats like saying that if I'm sitting in a conference room with my counterparts and one of them decides to use his speaking time to do nothing but insult me I'm obligated to listen. The U.N is supposed to be a forum in which the nations of the world can resolve differences without resorting to armed conflict or, you know, something useful like that. Not only does it fail in that capacity but it also serves as a fantastic soapbox upon which just about anybody can rant on these days, he doesn't even really need a point.

In other words Iran is saying the UN should no longer have a security council which can veto the majority of the world's population, the way the US is preventing Palestine from becoming a member.

At this point I can see Sealand becoming a member state before Palestine. All things considered Sealand is a model small country; peaceful population, thriving economy, lovely view, and an excellent place to tie your boat to for the night. Maybe His Royal Highness Prince Regent Michael could teach Abbas a thing or two about peaceful perseverance.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

notice the 9/11 conspiracy theorists getting all excited because they've found an ally. A completely insane, backward rabid anti-semite, but that's good enough for the rest of the nutjobs out there

1 ( +4 / -3 )

...and now waiting for the second walkout when Chavez takes the chair. (Is he is there or in the hospital?)

JohninnahaSep. 23, 2011 - 07:54AM JST Whatever else the guy is doing or saying, it's really refreshing to see some insight into the recent psychotic behavior of the U.S.A. by someone who has the courage to speak the truth.

Speak the truth? When he was in NY, Ahmadinejad was asked what he thought when he saw the famous photos of a young women, Neda Agha-Soltan, lying on the ground and bleeding to death after she has been shot in the chest. He constructed his own reality: He suggested that she has been murdered by his opponents with the BBC, as part of a bizarre snuff film. I guess you believe in this to be the truth.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

his accusations are quite accurate. are the same world leaders who continue to wage war on countries based on false premise, are the cause of the world economic crisis, have supported and even created dictatorships and regimes in Asia, Latin America and Africa, continue to support Israel no matter what lies the Israeli government spins about its nuclear capability, are they actually the ones who we want in charge of the world government?

while i do not defend the iranian president, i most definitely believe that the cause of the worst of the world's problems come from the very nations that lead the walkout on this speech. what do those nations have in rebuttle? iran is crushing their opposition parties, is far behind in human rights and is accused of creating nuclear weapons. i agree this is a nice list of things you shouldnt do as a country. however those nations who spearhead the propaganda campaign, namely the US, should look at itself in the mirror. what does the US list of things a country and government shouldnt do look like. a very scary thought indeed.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Iran hasn't invaded anyone in 200 years.

I wasn't aware the present government of Iran had been around that long. Thanks for the tip. Anyway, Iran has violent proxies in both Gaza and Lebanon. Hardly clean hands.

As to this, I don't get this walking out, although Lord knows I would not want to sit there and listen to him ramble on. If you are a member of the UN, you sit and you listen when others talk. It should be a requirement. Nobody says you have to agree or like it. Just sit there and be respectful to the nut...erm, I mean president of Iran.

Aakmal999,

That was amazing timing! We basically wrote the same thing at the same time!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

beangry,

Iran is not the same country it was 200 hundred years ago in pretty much any way, shape or form. That was my point. It doesn't make any sense to refer to 200 years ago. It seems you now understand Iran does support violence, so your claim about Iran being so peaceful you now must admit was incorrect. You want me to say the US also has proxies in the middle east? Sure, okay. So? I was not the one saying they did not. You were suggesting Iran was an innocent lamb of peace. I was merely pointing out you were wrong about Iran. Just because other countries do things you think are wrong does not mean you were correct in suggesting Iran was peaceful. They are not.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@JapanGal

They call themselves Persians, but they are just Arabs. So are the Palestinians.

Palestinians are Arabs. Nobody would dispute that.

Persians certainly aren't Arabs. Very different group of people.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

beangry,

I made no misrepresentation. I corrected you. You mistakenly claimed Iran had not attacked another country. Through their proxies, they have attacked another country. Obviously, you think I am correct about Iran not being the same country for the past 200 years as you then proceeded to point out how it was a different country during the Shah's rein and in the 50's. If you check, I made absolutely no attempt to defend the US. I merely pointed out your errors in your comments about Iran. As such, I believe I have a pretty decent grip on reality.

@Superlib

Why does the headline only mention the US when over 30 countries walked out?

To generate a lot of infighting between american haters and non.

Congress Shelley Berkley invested in war arms then voted to go to war for profiting millions off human suffering.Berkley meets with leaders in Afghanistan - check on how well her war arms investment are doing. and how many are being executed, murdered and imprisoned to work in slave camps.

Shelley Berkley said I will not allow my sons to go to war they are to special. They are wealthy from the war arms investments who cares if others suffer. I'M not worried about that just getting votes. I love moey.

www.lasvegassun.com/r/72/647339/ - Cached Oct 12, 2008 – Shelley Berkley made her first trip to Afghanistan this weekend to meet ... and military leaders as part of a congressional fact-finding effort.

But he only said the truth and his idea for shared and collective management of the world in order to put an end to the present disorders, tyranny and discriminations worldwide is actually what the world really needs now.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

When I posted that it's not only Japanese politicians who throw hissy fits, I was referring to the American politicians and their sycophants who walked out on Mr Ahmadenijad's spot on comments.

They can give it out, but they can't take it!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Who on this forum was asserting Mahmoud is telling the truth? Have your heads examined. This man is the great manipulator of truth. The truth applies only to his convenience. A "leader" of a country, a regime, guilty of the same offenses he accuses the United States in particular of. Did he use the word 'arrogant powers'? This guy IS obnoxious. I'm sure he knows it but he also knows many people, like the ones who post here in his favor, fall for it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

presto, so are you saying that slavery never happened, colonization never happened, World Wars never happened, nuclear bombs never landed on Japan? Weren't Egypt and Lybia military dictaorships supported by the West ? Aren't millions of people living in poverty and starving? Maybe you are living in a different world than I do. Please open your eyes and look outside of the US.

Ben_JackinoffSep. 23, 2011 - 05:09PM JST beangry, I made no misrepresentation. I corrected you. You mistakenly claimed Iran had not attacked another country. Through their proxies, they have attacked another country...

And many countries accuse Israel on waging wars and attacking another countries through the US, by proxy. By proxy, you can accuse anyone of doing anything. "Proxy" was always a great point, just like "They provoked us". Used all the time all over the place.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Back on topic please.

A very sensible comment. 100% point. I think it is at the core of the events. He is a lunatic, possibly as well as the rest of his government. He makes it impossible to support anything he says, but to walk away. The US could not wish for a better opponent. Who cares about his accusations. He has to concentrate of Iran and its development and not spreading a flood of stupid nonsense at the UN. With the leader like that, Iran is done.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

By proxy, you can accuse anyone of doing anything. "Proxy" was always a great point, just like "They provoked us". Used all the time all over the place.

Did you read what I wrote? I freely admitted the US has proxies (that is plural) in the middle east. However, it is a known fact that Iran has admitted arming and assisting Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. In answer to the mistaken claim that Iran has not attacked another country, I responded that Iran's hands are not clean. That was my point. You want to talk about the US? Go for it. I was responding to a comment about Iran.

No, I am speaking only about Iran. You were claiming that Hamas is Iran's proxy. That is not true. It's an easy shortcut for public. Iran's support does not mean that Iran directly governs those organizations. That Iran's hands are not clean is also true, of course, as well as the hands of almost everyone in that region.

Here is a reference for you:

http://www.cfr.org/israel/iran-supports-hamas-but-hamas-no-iranian-puppet/p18159

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ben_Jackinoff, just to be perfectly clear, I didn't have problems with your statement that Iran's hands are not clean. I objected, that you call someone to be wrong, while making a false statement in return. My post was not intended to oppose your core statements.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Konsta,

Thank you for your article. I prefer not to get into a battle of internet links. However, your linked article is hardly concrete in denying the possibility of Iranian control over Hamas. In fact, it mentions that Iran has asserted in the past that they have strong influence over Hamas and over the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. This is also true of Hezbollah. They provide them with weaponry and strategic advice. By the way, to be clear, I was never suggesting Iran created Hamas. However, Hamas leaders very often seek the leadership counsel of the government of Iran and act on this counsel.

However, the fact is that Hamas commanders have confirmed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard trained hundreds of its men in Tehran and that such training had been going on for year. If you would prefer to call them just good pals (no pun intended) instead of proxies, go for it. However, I think the meaning is basically the same and I think I have described the situation accurately.

Thanks for your comments though.

Also to be clear, I do agree with the core content of your posts as well.

The Question,

Thats like saying that if I'm sitting in a conference room with my counterparts and one of them decides to use his speaking time to do nothing but insult me I'm obligated to listen.

It is not the same as an individual at a conference. These are representatives of countries and the people within them. It seems to me that it would have shown a heck of a lot more strength if the countries that walked at sat there and showed that while sticks and stones may break their bones, names will never hurt them. If you want people to listen to your representative, then you should listen to others, even the nutty ones.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They should arrest this crank on charges of spying and ask for a ransom, sorry, bail to be paid in return for his release.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't think that would work. Iran probably would not be willing to put up the ransom, erm bail and the US would be stuck with him forever.

The article presented here has nothing to do with Ahmadinejad in NY and photos of a young woman. I made not comment on that. I cannot see how you link that with this article or with what I wrote.

I commented on his ability to see through some of the PR smokescreen the U.S.A. is putting out and tell it like it is, as reported in THIS ARTICLE.

I find it refreshing that a politician expresses his or her own opinion. That they say what they see. These days this is a rarity. Most politicians in high positions have "advisors" to tell them what to think and to write their speeches for them.

That's what I was commenting on.

This is something laughable..very .funny of Somali attitudes of it self...Sad .You do not know Who you are...

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Ben@,

I don't mean the current govt have existed for hundreds of years, but he country has. So has the US even though it had a different constitution in 1785.

"violent proxies in gaza and Lebanon"? You mean the US is the one supporting - directly - he murder if civilians in those areas. Every time an Israeli bomb or missile kills innocents, much of the weaponry is made in the USA. Helicopter gunships, for example, are American. The Iranians might be assisting some people, bur nothing on the scale of the US. One other thing: why is it illegitimate interference when the Iranians do it but totally great and dandy when it's the Americans? The imperial mentality. If it's wring for Iran it's wrong fir the US.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

HeyRoberts, whats the point of freedom when uve got millions of americans living under the poverty in america. It might actually better to live in iran...

“our great nationa stands ready to join hands with other nations to march on this beautiful path.”

Oh good, then he would be willing to take the asylum seekers that head to Australia, because Iran is so much closer for them to get to. And Australian politics just keep giving them poor people the run around from what I hear. Maybe if the US and and co hadda stuck around he would have got to that point?? His words sure seem compelling, and what country can stand and point fingers at another that they are any better. The US and co for example might stop pulling the empathy card and let Iran deal with their neighbouring countries, while they clean up their own backyard. I mean it doesnt seem nice for President Ahmadinejad to be saying these things about America, but it would seem that talking with neighbouring countries for all is a possibility, eh?? The UN is a long way from being what it calls itself, but who is in a hurry? Any reason for a hurry? Chill out and have something to eat; a little time to think and settle, the only people really hurrying is the asylum seekers, and maybe Iran would be willing to help them out if they werent so hurrying; hurrying to the podium, hurrying US out the door........

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Americans itself feel ashame with childish behaviour of their delegation. This one of comment in The New York Time:

This guy tells some truths and some lies, just like the United states reps do when they speak. Walkign out is something you never do under nay circumstances when someone is speaking at the U.N.

Anyone who walks out is basically telegraphing that they are too immature and afraid to listen to what someone else has to say.

You listen. Then, if you disagree you can say why.

You are not qualified to speak if you run away.

It's cowardice.

Unless you have an upset stomach you should be brave, stay put, and listen.

How America to having war with Iran? if only their president speech America cowardly walk out and followed by European delegations. Ahmadinejad should say "hey don't scare! this only my word not my nuclear weapon".

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

@Ben,

You are misrepresenting what I wrote; I never said Iran was innocent, I said they are responsible for behavior against ther own people; so is he US. My point is that in recent history ie. the past 200 years, iran's crimes are nothing in comparison to what the US has and is doing. And you're wrong about Iran not begin the same Persian country; it's has changes to its borders, but not if so drastic as the US that committed Fenocide by murdering the natives and taking N America. The they extended to Hawaii. Say what you will about Iran, but you can't deny that when its criminal govt was murdering its OWN people under the Shah the US supported him. Heck thy overbred the doomocrati govt in 1953 and put the Shah in!

Grt a grip on reality.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

The USA, instead of walking out like babies, cry babies, maybe, just maybe should actually try to listen to this guy, Ahmadiejad, which I do not like, but hey, when the entire Middle East sees the USA only supporting Israel against Palestinians, well should anybody be surprised?? We all know the CIA, special operations etc..by the USA are not just stuff on that tv show 24?? I guess it is called 24, or 24 Hours?? But the point is, sure Israel has made a country for Jews, and that is fine, but when you have a few million Arab Palestinians being pushed around, kicked, beaten, killed it is not only the Iranians who are not even Arabs, to get angry, let alone the majority of the Arab world, where Israel is stuck right there in the middle of it all, the 9/11 rumors etc...we should not be surprised, even Michael Moore has great info on this theme, but I will never forget from his movie, geez, the only planes allowed to FLY were all from the Bin Laden family who were living, working or studying in the USA all with the blessings of old ex prez Bush! Anybody see anything wrong with this picture??

-9 ( +7 / -16 )

His points of accusations are Quit reasonable... Other countries sitting with US has no back borne to ask many Questions, although they have differences with US policy.. About the 17 years old boy hanging... he is adult cording to lunatic calender and Shariah ( country law) . governing law of the Country.

I have a question in the same way...? Does Barack Obama has to mention anything about at the UN assembly, of The execution Troy Davis who was convicted for a murder (with out any physical evidence to the courts ) a policeman on duty.
