The only thing the USA is good at is selling weapons , drugs , making movies

Most patents, innovations, food, produce, and technology, especially the ones we are using to communicate right now, so there are definitely things that the US has given the world and no one else can give Taiwan the safety or security in the same way the US can.

and involving itself in global conflicts with the agenda of taking advantage and pretending to be the global leader of freedom.

We are.

If Taiwan wants to be an independent nation then make the announcement and get it done.

We want that, but you also have to play this game smart, no need to poke the Chinese into a conflict that the world doesn't need, but in the meantime, we can still heavily arm Taiwan.

Taiwan should develop its own nukes and delivery systems. I am pretty sure they have the capability. MAD works.

Sell them more at cost. AMRAAMS, Stand off sea and ground attack munitions, the B Variant of the F-35, Aegis ashore and/or Iron dome if Israel will sell it, perhaps the Littoral combat ship would work better here than it did for the USN.

What ever they need, sell it to them. If they can’t afford it, help finance it. There is a limited window to equip Taiwan so that it can successfully resist attempts to force it into submission and time is of the essence.

approved a potential means?

At any rate, thank God for America. If if weren't for America this WORLD would have been destroyed years ago.

The only thing America is good at is protecting it's friends and taking out the enemies of the greatest country on Earth.

look at Libya that gave up its nukes, and look what happened.

look at Ukraine that gave up its nukes and look what happened.

if anything China will be preparing, to put up with any sanctions, and will try to insulate themselves and maximize economic pain on the west, and the USA is probably not going to get into a shooting war at all with china.

The UK,US, and Russia guaranteed Ukraines security, and if there is another part of history to look at there is the falklands. A dictatorship, whose economy was tanking, invoked nationalism and invaded the falklands. The US, didn't do anything except talk. The UK had to do it by itself.

So it isn't a bad idea to develop those nukes.

Don't worry so much China! The weapons are not meant to be used against you, they're only meant to defend the people of Taiwan from any unfriendly invaders. Taiwan has no interest and is too small to invade China, so no worries!

Getting angry is what China does. Its national tabloid, the Global Times (a government mouthpiece), usually resembles a yapping chihuahua when a mailman walks up to the door.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Good for the US, good for free Taiwan.

Taiwan has every right to defend herself from the aggressive and warlike state to her West.

Hopefully Japan also ramps up military sales to Taiwan.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

Stay on your side of the line and you don’t need to worry about what we sell, lend or give to Taiwan, eh Xi?

11 ( +13 / -2 )

So what if China is angered? So what?

They kept threatening the US and Pelosi when she was on her way to Taiwan. Promising to shoot down her plane and start WW3. At the end, they didn't do squat. Pelosi touched down and Chinese nationalists literally betchslapped themselves on youtube. You can go on youtube and watch it. Absolutely Hilarious. If angering China means more 10 cent trolls betchslap themselves on social media I'm personally all for it.

This is why the CCP is causing psychological damage to their own people. This is a classic case of self generated conflict, they unilaterally started the arms race, and they unilaterally change status quo in highly sensitive regions, but gets upset at their neighbours' responses.

How's the average CCP wolf suppose to explain that to their family at dinner time?

I initiated a conflict today son, but I'm very upset now.

All this without the gaslightings...

The manufacturers of these very expensive weapons would like to thank Presidents Xi and Putin for the business.

The United States has been and continues to be the leader of freedom since 1945. Like all democracies it is far from perfect. But it beats your country's fascist and militant rule. People aren't leaving the US to move to an autocratic country. It's that freedom that allows you to post inane nonsense without government control or censorship, on the internet which would not even exist had it not been for United States.

Let them (Taiwan) join NATO

Allies along with South Korea and Japan, give them all the same securities afforded other NATO members... or change it From NATO to NAPTO then lets see how they will retaliate.

U.S. angers China with potential $1.1 billion arms sale to Taiwan

So what?

China gets angry when ships sail in the South China sea.

China gets angry when nations fly patrols in the South China sea.

China gets angry when people visit Taiwan.

China gets angry when nations call for investigation into the origin of Covid.

China gets angry a lot! That says more about China and it's problems than about anyone else.

Other nations do not have a priority of making China happy. That is China's priority. China needs to seriously get over itself and it's expectations that nations should fall over themselves to do what China wants them to do or not do. China continues to upset other nations with it's actions and does not care about the hurt feelings it causes others.

Who gives a hoot? I do not. Sell them whatever they want to buy and your congress allows you to sell them. Including diesel/electric Submarines and F-35's with some HIMARS thrown in.

I am encouraged by the quality of and understanding found in the above comments. People are getting it: China is the aggressor, and their chickens are coming home to roost. This is the decade in which the world and China learn this: China needs the outside world waaaaaay more than anyone outside China needs it!

The world MUST now do to the unelected communists in Peking what those communists positively FAILED to do themselves at the start of COVID: CONTAIN THE SPREADING THREAT AT ALL COSTS.

this. any conflict that causes imports to and exports from china to cease will collapse society and the ccp in a few days or weeks. if only the ccp realized how fragile its global situation really is.

The United States has been and continues to be the leader of freedom since 1945. Like all democracies it is far from perfect. But it beats your country's fascist and militant rule. People aren't leaving the US to move to an autocratic country.

The US leads because it is democratic and the biggest economy and biggest military. But there are others who without them the US would not be where it is and world freedom would not be where it is.

Britain entered World War I on 4 August 1914 fighting until the end November 11, 1918.

Australia, New Zealand, France and others in support for the entire war.

The United States declared war on the German Empire on April 6, 1917, nearly three years after World War I started, fighting until wars end in Nov 1918.

England fought WWII from From September 1939 until its end in Aug 1945. Along with Australia, New Zealand, France, India, Canada and many others.

On December 7, 1941, following the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, the United States declared war on Japan. Three days later, after Germany and Italy declared war on it, the United States became fully engaged in the Second World War.

In effect the UK, France, Australia and other democracies fought for 10 years and two months in two world conflicts defending democracies and freedom. While the US fought for 5 years and three months. Essentially half the time. The US had more troops and equipment and was not involved in fighting the elite forces of Germany who had for the most part already died, been maimed and removed from combat and were in training positions for the military forces in Germany.

The world needed the US, it's involvement was game changing, but without the rest of the world the US could not have won alone.

The USSR/Russia would not have defeated Germany alone either.

The US could have and would have defeated Japan, although Japan had more army units in China (and the more elite) than the rest of the Pacific.

China and Russia have not studied the world conflicts well or have convinced themselves they were responsible for the victories. Having a coalition of many nations make winning much more likely. China alone, or Russia alone is fine if they fight smaller nations one on one. Take on the US with it's many allies and your toast in the end.

China gets angry at everyone for everything and it shouldn't. It never used to prior to Xi and China was a prosperous nation with ultra high growth. Under Xi it has lost friends and influence and that will only get worse with time the longer Xi is in charge.

I don't think the UK was defending democracy and freedom for the peoples of Ireland, Kenya, Nigeria, India, Malaysia, Jamaica, and numerous other countries.
