But President Trump said it was all under control!

The more American's listen to the scientists and doctors actually fighting this virus, and the less they listen to Trump, the better the chances they will have to survive!

Folks have to make their choice, follow the doc's, live, follow Trump, die!

But President Trump said it was all under control

Im not certain if you’ve come to realize this, but Donny says a lot of things and very few of them are accurate or truthful. It’s to the point with this crisis that his ardent fans are telling us to just ignore him and listen to the experts. Isn’t it great that we have to decide when to ignore the president in a crisis?

I saw on the news that Gov. Cuomo is so desperate for ventilators that NY is going to order several thousand them from China. Ironic, isn't it? China, the source of the deadly virus, is going to be of more help to NY than the U.S. government.

Meanwhile, right now Pres. Trump is on TV talking about how much higher the death toll would have been had he not responded as soon as he did, which begs the question How many more people would have been saved had Trump not spent the first month of this crisis saying everything was fine and not to worry about anything?

BINGO!

while the U.S. had over 180,000 infections, with more dead than China's official toll of about 3,300.

Shameful figures. There's no question the US was too late in getting to the fight. It would be nice to think when (if?) this monster can be brought under control that the US 'establishment', its ruling 'elite', will allow a thorough analysis of what all was done to deal with it as well as what all had NOT been done to prepare for it. It's worrying that people like Kelly Anne Conway, shock jocks like Rush Limbaugh and other far rightists in media plus the telescamgelists are already spinning things to make Trump believers think he 'wasn't responsible for that'. Way beyond time for full truth. Something sorely missing during the post-truth, Trump era.

“because the Lord told us to.”

That's on par with taking scientific medical advice from Trump.

Trump blames China. "When a finger points in accusation, three fingers point back at the accuser."

Certainly, the bull that entered the china shop came from the outside, but Trump let it in.

Readers, once again, we ask you to put aside your political differences on this thread. Bickering will not be permitted. Intelligent discussion please.

Should read ... China's REPORTED figures which is the wording most reposnible media outlets are now using.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

@zichi We're ALL having to deal with that.

the number really shoots up just like in Italy. Shows how fragile the countrys medical care system is. A castle built on sand

Public health experts at a briefing with President Donald Trump projected that the number of U.S. deaths could range from 100,000 to 240,000 even if Americans continue to stay home and limit contact with others.

So Trump’s “perfect” response to the crisis will result in a death toll of upwards of a quarter million Americans?

Its worth mentioning that in Canada, just across the border, the per capita infection and death rates are about 1/3 those in the US, and their testing rate per capita is about double that in the US so if anything the gap between the two countries might be even bigger.

So, you know, having leadership that actually leads rather than complaining about the media and pretending the pandemic doesn’t exist actually does make a difference.

eclipsing China's official count

I see that many posters here are swallowing the CCP’s official line. Just don’t wash it down with aquarium cleaner.

If everything is peachy in Wuhan now, then why are the local police preventing Wuhan residents from leaving? To forestall spread of the contagion or anti-government, anti-Chinese Communist Party feeling?

The experts have pretty much all agreed this is a naturally occurring virus, and not man-made. China can be criticized for prioritizing a cover-up to protect their image over dealing with the problem quickly and efficiently. But blaming them for the virus is pretty ridiculous - they are victims of it the same as the rest of us. This is a virus, it doesn't have political affiliations, doesn't care about borders, and doesn't care about race. So let's stop blaming China for the virus, next time it could spring up in your country first.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

As a reminder of how quickly this virus spreads, according to John Hopkins University, the US had fewer confirmed cases than China six days ago. That's less than a week.

If you can, stay inside.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Since the virus is deadly for those with underlying health conditions, the USA is especially vulnerable given its patchwork social fabric of state and federal laws and regulations with their unwieldy, conflicting mechanisms, ill-suited for central organization, coordination and cooperation, particularly pertaining to manufacturing and supply. To make matters worse the gumbo clogging the gears is supplied by a lazy, detached president paralyzed by a level of incompetence that is off the charts. But it is the patchwork economic structure, top-heavy with corporate power to the detriment of public services, especially, healthcare for millions of workers, starved of resources, that constitutes the Achilles heel of America, the fundamental underlying issue which will ensure that the virus finds a host to die for: Amerikan capitalism. The one silver lining for victimized Americans about to pay the bill for 40 years of neglect and ruthless profiteering would be that this pandemic could be the game-changer to reset American society on a better trajectory to the future.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

100-240,000 deaths? Where's Trump getting his numbers from? The USA death toll is barely over 3,000, we'll be lucky to hit 10K by the start of summer at this point.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Where did the virus start? Was it in an open society or closed society? Who are people in both societies supposed to believe? Certainly, for Americans a closed society's politicians are more interested in having people believe them than the scientific facts show. Do the leaders in closed societies have two hour interviews from politicians and scientists twice a day on television? The American people want to the politicians and scientists to give them hope and a solution. They do not want to hear criticism from people who only want to spew political philosophy.

Apparently, you guys haven’t notice, but the healthcare isn’t stopping this virus, so to make that statement is just ludicrous

It isn't. He could let more people get healthcare, and he won't. Healthcare does save lives. Intubation does save lives. Because of the administration's dithering, more people will die than need to. The government should pay for healthcare. They should get the money for it by taxing the wealthy. That you're more worried about bloated fatcat wallets at this time is ghoulish.

Here: a dedicated Trump fanatic radio host finally loses faith in the President thanks to his woeful mismanagement of the crisis.

If you continue to support the shameful policies of this administration and the President, who prefers pillow company bosses to professionals, your children will not forgive you.

but the healthcare isn’t stopping this virus

TrumpCare is making it worse. Under TrumpCare people with symptoms are afraid to go to the ER because they can't pay the 10s or even 100s of thousands of dollars of medical bills CV patients are stuck with. So better stay safe in Japan with their government based healthcare. You can rely on it and it won't make you bankrupt unlike TrumpCare

When this is over, I expect the US to demand large indemnities from China. Which won't accept blame, so at some point war will break out.

China's death toll figures are complete and utter fiction.

I don't believe China's BS data for one minute.

And I can't believe media outlets are just accepting them at face value.

If they had real journalistic values they would send reporters into Hubei and Wuhan to get the true story.

How, by parachuting in? The place has been in total lockdown!

I wonder if Repubs and Trump supporters could ever imagine when voting for Trump in 2016 that he would sponsor the largest socialist government bailout in US history....$2.2 trillion - with a "T"...

I wonder how both parties just couldn’t have imagined that a virus would come a ravage the country and the world. The faster we all get through this, the faster the economic Capitalist engine drive of America can come back and do what it has always done best, making money.

Apparently, you guys haven’t notice, but the healthcare isn’t stopping this virus,

Apparently you haven’t noticed, but the purpose of the healthcare in question isn’t to stop the virus, its to stop people from dying of the virus.

The faster we all get through this, the faster the economic Capitalist engine drive of America can come back and do what it has always done best, making money.

Oh. I'd prefer it if what America always did best was help people and improve lives. But enriching parasite CEOs at the expense of the vast majority of people in the US and abroad is cool too, I guess.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Why would anyone claim that “the healthcare” isn’t stopping the virus? That’s just silly. Almost as silly as Donny’s Fans being worried about fiscal responsibility.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

How, by parachuting in? The place has been in total lockdown!

Try and keep up with the latest news.

27 March 2020: Wuhan lifts its lockdown, resumes all transportation

We need the real story and the real data from Wuhan. NOT this made up data from the Chinese government.

Seriously, for the people posting here... why do you accept the data from the Chinese government at face value? You trust them that much?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

what is the true lesson of the US death toll? America tried mass testing in the beginning of the outbreak. As a result, it burned thru its test kits and its medical supplies. American health care workers are now wearing garbage bags for protection: NYC hospital responds to photos of nurses wearing trash bags as gowns,https://www.today.com/health/nyc-hospital-responds-photos-nurses-wearing-trash-bags-t176939.

So what is the lesson? First before you think about mass testing. Ask yourself, do you have the supplies? What happens if you run low on supplies? What are you going to do if you run out? Wear garbage bags? What happens if there is a second wave?

And who would be naive enough to believe anything a communist country has to say?

Remember this is the country where people are literally buried and bulldozed alive inside a crashed train to cover-up and save some face.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Companies are trying to find a vaccine. That is what is required to stop this virus. It may take 18 to 24 months to make a vaccine, starting from the time that the virus is first discovered. Worldwide, the various government healthcare systems are trying to minimize exposure, identify who is contaminated, and limit the number of deaths.

Companies are taking shortcuts in order to bring an effective vaccine to market as quickly as possible. The usual government regulations, and procedures, are going to be granted exemptions in order to save lives.

so said the one coming from the country who bombed Syria, Yemen and Lybia

should I show you the children died in Yemen due to US bombing ??

or should I remember to you what your great army did in Vietnam ?

US reporters were thrown out by the Chinese govt a few weeks ago. Think the BBC has some reporters thrown out too.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-51938035

i won't be waiting for RT to tell the truth in China. Who else is left?

If they had real journalistic values they would send reporters into Hubei and Wuhan to get the true story.

There were good CNN reporters in China, like the young man who covered the Muslim prisons, but in the US, their journalism had dropped off and became a clown show from long ago. They should be keeping us updated on vaccine treatments developments and progress weekly. Now that one of them has the virus, I expect more of the "stir the pot" Trump blame and taking shots and jabs, things out of context to fit their narrative and other weak un American behaviors they have stooped too. Interestingly, Dems arent taking shots, only because it would become all the more transparent what their objectives are, and people dont have the appetite for it now.

America can come back and do what it has always done best, making money.

For some, money and ratings comes first. They sadly won't learn any lessons from this crisis.
