The United States and Brazil alone account for more than a third of all global deaths from the disease.

Two states run for the benefit of the 'elite' by 'elite' 'conservatives' with zero regard for the general population. How's rightwing 'populism' working out these days for the general populations in both states.

Opening schools is Trumps way of opening up the country. Baby steps into death. Am I right?

Trump just say thing out of ignorance

Let's see how the trump supporters feel when he require them to put their children in harms way.

Please leave Trump out of it. USA is federalist country, states run their own health and school programs. The WHO is meddling in US political affairs, no wonder people don't trust it.

Australian states are also running separate acovidnd different responses, why hasn't the WHO provided the same comments about Australia? Answer = WHO is politically meddling in USA politics for its master, China.

What is it about tyrants and children?

When they're not busy ogling them at teen pageants, they're preparing to send them into places of high risk.

Of course, there will be those who advocate sending kids in before it's safe and resolved. But they, no doubt, just say it for partisan reasons and probably don't have young children.

WHO is politically meddling in USA politics for its master, China.

This is all kinds of nonsense. China isn't a fan of WHO, either.

WHO warns pandemic will intensify

Who gives a rat's behind what WHO says!

The schools will be reopened, we're done with this nonsense.

I'm sure if you get a little bit more bored of the virus then it will all go away by November. You just have to try harder.

Please leave Trump out of it.

I mean, I wish we could. Completely out of it. Like completely out of office.

*Opening schools is Trumps way of opening up the country. Baby steps into death. *Am I right?

Wrong.

Trump just say thing out of ignorance

You need to do more research.

I'm sure if you get a little bit more bored of the virus then it will all go away by November. You just have to try harder.

No matter who wins in November, watch the virus take a backseat to other, more important issues.

Trump do not care about his own child, he is the only President, that do nothing public with his own child like other President

Both WHO and the CDC are useless. First no masks now masks are mandatory. As an American, I'm extremely disappointed on how the US and any governmental authority has politicized every decision (Yes, I include BOTH Conservatives and Liberals here). When in lockdown, accelerate vaccine testing and processing NOT trying to figure out if one needs a mask to protect oneself from an AIRBORNE virus. Was proudly wearing a mask when the Chinese were panicking (despite their reports to the contrary) because I work in the airline industry. I put up all the ridicule and abuse hurled at me because I was the only one wearing a mask and I was scaring passengers ( I replied, "Too late, the Chinese beat me to it"). Safety equipment AREN'T muzzles or images of slavery, rather it's to protect myself, my family, and YOU from this still being studied and very real virus!

I personally am glad to live in a country where I can choose to protect myself to the fullest extent that I can afford as opposed to one that only listens to so-called "experts" motivated by politics whose decisions change frequently.

Ain't gonna happen. He'll win. Bigly. And the America hating left will continue to blame him for everything.

Trump has so many bad ideas like injecting Mr. Clean to kill the virus. No wonder why the US is so sick. He loves to blame other people. Just recently he was blaming Hillary for . Proof:

“Biden and Obama stopped their testing,” Trump said. “They just stopped it. You probably know that. I’m sure you don’t want to report it. But they stopped testing. Right in the middle, they just went, ‘No more testing.’”

China isn't a fan of WHO, either.

...because China considers itself master of the WHO.

This is all kinds of nonsense.

ok, now explain why?

The WHO said nothing of Australian states' different covid strategies, said nothing Japan promoting the Olympics whikst tgere are 13 millions active cases of covid around the world, yet insert itself into US politics?

Don't forget the WHO was also backing up China when China was pressuring countries to keep their borders open for Chinese nationals. Then there's the infamous Taiwan interview.

Yeah...kind of nonsense...

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

...because China considers itself master of the WHO.

Is this another blame game like now (above)? Trump is blaming Hillary again. And the WHO? The problem is China is beating the US in the COVID-19 fight. Anything good that happens Trump takes credit, then anything bad happens he conveniently blames Hillary.

"Back to school" Trump orders....

"Attend my rallies" he tells his supporters...

"It's all a hoax", he tells everyone....

All while ignoring the fact that 134K Americans are no longer here ti listen to his crazed rantings...

And the number gets larger each day...

funding.

Really? Why?

BigYen - thank you for posting details of the Aust situation re a coordinated, no-politicized, bipartisan approach to the crisis.

This is what happens when you have mature leadership from all walks, Left & Right who understand suffering.

In the US the lack of mature leadership reflects the chaotic situation, even though there are 1,000s of workers in the field trying so hard.

Amazingly Trump at his latest press event again tried to pin blame indirectly on Obama / Biden.

Focus on the problem, involve all including WHO into the discussion and formulate plans that go beyond the self to alleviate the suffering.

Lead.

To whomever wants to open schools:

Is it safe?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I favor opening schools safely.

That means: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/schools.html

And nothing less.

That means billions of funding for our schools. Nothing less.

And we don't even need to raise taxes on anyone but the 1%.

Aust situation

There's a second wave going through Australia atm, and Victoria state is undergoing a second lock down....

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The people pushing hardest for the reopening are the same who pushed hardest for their states to reopen for the sake of politics, and are now seeing higher one day positive test numbers than pretty much the entire rest of the world.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The lock-downs and other restrictions are not about public health. Time to move on already.

So here we have pediatricians unanimously saying they would “absolutely” send their kids back to school in the fall, “without hesitation.” Stick around for the befuddled anchor’s reaction, “They all said yes.”

And how do you know that, guess you actually believe the numbers released by that communist dictatorship..

German study finds no evidence coronavirus spreads in schools

Scientists say children may act as a "brake" on the spread of the virus

When they're not busy ogling them at teen pageants, they're preparing to send them into places of high risk.

@Toasted Heretic - Covid 19 has been with us for months now. Children are not at risk. That has been known for quite some time. The school closures are to prevent them getting Covid 19 and passing it on to those who ARE at risk.

The USA squandered the summer and now the coronavirus pandemic is worse than it was before. Had the USA not been is such a mad rush to open up for business as usual, then the schools would've probably been in a better position to open their doors to a certain extent under different conditions. But now?! It's more dangerous now than it was a few months ago, and this president just wants to take one last roll of the dice before November to save himself and to hell with what's good for the kids seems to be his thinking.
