"the last line of defense to block the Biden agenda," while launching probes into the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, the origin of COVID and pandemic lockdowns. And watch the GOP’s approval sink into the doodoo pit.

I thought the Republicans were going to offer a plan to lower inflation and gas prices. And work on other “kitchen table” issues.

Oh, right. They have no such plans.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

oh and investigate what should have already been investigated.,

But average Americans don’t care about any of that stuff. They care about gas prices, crime and the border. /s

The Republicans will win the House with the smallest of majorities and nothing like the great red wave predicted by the GOP. The democrats hold the Senate.

Just like most Midterm Elections and nothing dramatic.

The GOP and Trump got a slap in the face. What will happen going forward? Trump, DeSantis?

Many Republicans attacked Trump and blamed him for the failures.

About 27% of voters cited abortion as the issue most important to them.

"Voters in Montana rejected on Tuesday proposed legislation that would have imposed criminal penalties on health care providers who do not act to preserve the life of infants born during the course of an abortion."

Five states upheld abortion rights.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Why did the GOP do so poorly? Trump? Abortion? Split party?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Yes it just indicates which areas are under physical control of a certain group of people. Man, that’s a red map.

And yet you're celebrating a one-seat majority in the house. Well done, GOP.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

NBC is projecting a 219-216 split, and while it’s not a done deal yet, it seems likely that the GQP will win a majority as tissue thin as Don’s skin and as fragile as his “Daddy do you love me yet?” Ego.

So congratulations, Kevin. This is your life. When (not if) any TWO of the following nut jobs decide they don’t like you, your agenda or the just need a gig on Faux, your speakership is over: Jewish space lasers MTG, Gun Barbie Boebert, Matt “Venmo babe?” gaetz, Gym Jordan, Paul “my own family thinks I’m a bad idea” Gossert, Chip Roy, Andy Biggs and the entire hostage-taker, er…”Freedumb” caucus. What are the odds that any of the above listed form a conspiracy to put an ice pick in your back, politically speaking? About the same as the sun rising in the east tomorrow.

And as Plastic rightly points out, in 2 years when your entire list of accomplishments amounts to investigations and failed accusations with narry a “common sense solution” in sight, the voters are going to rightly ask themselves “why did we vote for these whack-jobs again?”

Not having a good answer, they will revert back to team sanity.

According to a non-American? LOL.

According to the ‘americans’ who have incessantly said so for the past 2 years.

Thanks for listening to my opinion. Your consistent feedback is always appreciated.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Certainly--otherwise it would be weird for a non-American to make incessant assumptions about the US in general, without actual Americans providing a reality check.

As I’ve pointed out several times, my understanding of American politics is often quite educational and tends to be a correction of some of our more misinformed posters.

Regarding ‘reality checks’ for example. I stated several times that abortion would be a key issue for voters and that a red wave wasn’t coming. The reality checks will keep coming as long as the misinformed keep making ‘speculations’ based on emotions instead of knowledge.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

now that the Election Day is over we see the 2 biggest selling points for their voters were elimination of college debt and codifying abortion.

Well, you were wrong - while abortion was certainly a motivator (thank you Judge Alito), the preeminent issue was saving our democracy from the Repub would-be despots and election deniers...

neither is going to happen.

Given your constant posting about a "Red Tsunami", you might want to keep your predictions to yourself...

i would feel I was lied just to get my vote had I voted for such people.

You just nailed 2016 and someone's promise to "build a wall" 63 times...

6 ( +6 / -0 )

codify abortion? Nah. Student debt relief? Nah. But thanks for those votes!

Incredibly disingenuous framing. Biden did help with student debt relief, but a Trump appointed judge blocked it. And to be clear this is a delay, rather than being permanent.

As for abortion, the results haven't been called yet, and absolutely no one here is surprised that Democrats might lose the house. The only surprising thing is how tiny the GOP's margin in the house appears to be. The underperformance is simply astounding. Time to get better policies?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Oh boy, the ketchup must be really flying at Mar-A-Lago today... Even in deep red Texas;

*Florida governor Ron DeSantis led former president Donald Trump by eleven points in a new poll of likely Republican primary voters by the Republican Party of Texas. Forty-three percent of respondents said they would support DeSantis, while Trump followed in second with 32 percent of the vote.*

A double-digit DeSanctimonious lead...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/desantis-surges-past-trump-texas-192716062.html

And you thought all his MAGA-candidates losing in the mid-terms left him "fuming and livid"....

I bet tomorrow someone's wife is going to be called "ugly" and his father a "terrorist who helped Bin Laden on 9/11"....

6 ( +6 / -0 )

giving Biden's opponents the power to limit his political agenda and launch potentially damaging probes into his administration and family.

Such lofty goals.

Remember when American political parties used to promise to go to the Moon or end poverty as their platform?

The corporate funded Republican Party since Reagan is largely responsible for the downward path of American political discourse.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Yes we in fact won the House. Man, that map of the USA on the websites for House elections is super red isn’t it?

Good thing land masses don't vote, amiright?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Of course the Clinton and Obama administrations had nothing to do with that.

Great examples when talking about the overall trend of American political discourse.

Two Dems who could use multi-syllabic words correctly and construct complex sentences.

Flanked by Dubya and Trump.

Disagreed with many of their policies but they could express policy issues.

And before you say it, Biden makes the Republicans happy because finally there is someone they can criticize for being poorly spoken.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Why did the GOP do so poorly? Trump? Abortion? Split party?

ALL of them and many more..

5 ( +5 / -0 )

What was the Dem lead in the House? 222-213. A strong mandate! we control it all.

What are Republicans on track for? a "tiny majority" that supposedly cant do anything with and means nothing....of..... 222-213.

A definite "Red Wave", no make that "Red Tsunami", wait...more like "Red Hurricane".....

ROFL...

I think the new MAGA angle is that DeSantis is involved in a diamond mining venture in Oklahoma with Anthony Fauci.

came from a Tweeter with the handle “Tyranny Free Tweeter! God vs satans NWO agenda!”

no, I’m not making that up

That's it, those MAGA losers are full of conspiracy theories.. lol..

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump's MAGA is looking more like yesterday's stale bread.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

A clear repudiation of the big lie MAGA crazies. As it should be. But I hope it doesn’t deter the grifter from announcing he’s going to run again.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The win is a red bloodbath. It was a red tsunami in Florida.

A red bloodbath? Let's not get too carried away now. lol The GOP is projected to have a one-seat majority in the House of Representatives.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

And Repubs wonder why they lost....and Trump fumes that it's McConnell's fault for not supporting imbeciles like this that he (Trump) endorsed...

Herschel Walker: U.S. should keep 'gas-guzzling cars' that produce 'good emissions'

Campaigning in Georgia on Sunday, Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker said the United States is not ready to implement policies like the Green New Deal that are designed to address climate change. Instead, Walker suggested the country needs to "keep having those gas-guzzling cars" that produce "good emissions."

The GOP midterms are like a car trying to run with three wheels.

Breaking News !!...

According to NBC News projections.. Democrat Katie Hobbs defeats MAGA favorite Kari Lake in high-stakes race for governor in Arizona..

Arizona turned BLUE !!!...

MAGA brigade of losers defeated again !!..

HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Wallace, Democratic DA will prosecute dozen of Republicans after the election, why did you turn on your kind the Republicans

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trump's MAGA is looking more like yesterday's stale bread.

Stale and rotten.. lol..

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Portraying this as anything other a massive underperformance and refutiation of Trumpism is a laugh.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Blacklabel, Republicans got choose a speaker,if they cannot come to consensus, Pelosi is the speaker,

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Lots of Republicans Congress people are under investigation, this will be a 6 month rule

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Portraying this as anything other a massive underperformance and refutiation of Trumpism is a laugh.

MAGA got trounced, so the red tsunami ended up being a MAGA bloodbath. But the GOP did very poorly as a whole as well - suddenly, people who traditionally didn't vote (the young), or often voted Republican (women) realized that the GOP does not even remotely represent them or their needs, and voted against them. This won't change. The GOP does not represent America or Americans.

Breaking News !!...

Wow....amazing - just look at the across the board repudiation of Trump and his MAGA-candiates....no wonder Trump is "sulking, livid, furious, and screaming at everyone"....

https://people.com/politics/trump-reportedly-livid-screaming-after-midterm-election-results/

Oz went down in flames to a guy that had a stroke...

Lake lost to Hobbs even in Red Arizona...

But by far the worst for Trump has to be both the hated Repubs Kemp and Raffensberger winning in Georgia - by large amounts....both who refused to go along with his 2020 attempted coup....

Then his rival DeSantis wins and also beats Trump in a 2024 poll by double digit in deep red Texas...

No wonder he's blaming McConnell and Melania for his failures...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The GOP midterms are like a car trying to run with three wheels.

And a boot on the fourth.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Yes, like in other countries, such multiple countings take quite some time until the ‘result’ fits the targeted outcome. That’s by far not a new method and not unique to US midterms. lol

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

There has to be, in the 21st century a more efficient system of voting than a mail in postal/ballot.

Only a voter with a doctors certificate should be eligible to mail in.

you’re “baiting” us into saying the GOP “won”

Yes we in fact won the House. Man, that map of the USA on the websites for House elections is super red isn’t it?

even NY and AZ is mostly red.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

you keep saying random things that mean nothing without telling me what you disagree with. What have I said that is incorrect?

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

“First Thing: Biden vows to codify Roe if Democrats win midterms”

So either Dems didn’t win midterms -or- Biden lied.

pick one. I mean he “vowed”. That’s a serious betrayal.

Such lofty goals.

Remember when American political parties used to promise to go to the Moon or end poverty as their platform?

Landing on Mars, flying by Jupiter, Pluto--not too shabby. Winning the Cold War without firing a shot.

The corporate funded Republican Party since Reagan is largely responsible for the downward path of American political discourse.

Of course the Clinton and Obama administrations had nothing to do with that.

Bob FosseToday  09:10 am JST

As I’ve pointed out several times, my understanding of American politics is often quite educational and tends to be a correction of some of our more misinformed posters.

I've pointed out the understanding comes from perusing headline news from various left leaning sites, and repeating them here (Russian Collusion! January 6! Stolen Election!).

Regarding ‘reality checks’ for example. I stated several times that abortion would be a key issue for voters and that a red wave wasn’t coming. The reality checks will keep coming as long as the misinformed keep making ‘speculations’ based on emotions instead of knowledge.

So you believe people voted for AOC because of her stance on abortion?

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Yep it’s super clear. They wont touch it just all snark like Dems didn’t lose the house when they factually did.

So either Dems didn’t win midterms -or- Biden lied.

Repubs winning 10 of the remaining 19 right now.

Deflect deflect!

codify abortion? Nah. Student debt relief? Nah. But thanks for those votes!

So either Dems didn’t win midterms -or- Biden lied.

According to a non-American? LOL.

Actually, investigations of someone who assumed a position in a questionable manner are high on the list of Americans.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

A Democratic victory in the Dec 6 run-off between Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker would give the party outright majority control, bolstering its sway over committees, bills, and judicial picks.

I'm surprised no one is feigning exuberance about the possibility of the Dems being able to have majority control over judicial picks.

Bob FosseToday  08:44 am JST

they don’t make gavels in small, medium and large, (nice comment)

they don’t have subpoenas that say “you can ignore because our majority isn’t big enough”

mever heard Dems talk about how small their own majority was. They claimed by winning they had a mandate to investigate.

Now we have that same mandate, as we have won.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Good points.

And the Dems have had 50 years to codify abortion rights but they never did so for them to blame the Supreme Court shows their consistent unwillingness to look at their own party's severe shortcomings.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

Well isn’t it wonderful that Biden admitted he lied about codifying abortion just to get votes?

that’s a reality check.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

As Biden has his “veto pen” for 2 more years. Republicans can block any further insane spending as as start,

oh and investigate what should have already been investigated.,
