The risk of side effects from the injections is more serious

No, not even remotely true. The predominate side effects from the vaccine are localized pain at the injection site, in some cases fatigue and even minor flu symptoms that last a day. These don't do any lasting harm and are far less dangerous than Covid 19. Based on experience in the US 1 in 100,000 people (0.001%) of patients receiving the Astra Zeneca vaccine experience the blood clotting disorder thrombotic thrombocytopenia. In the UK out of 20 million vaccinations there were 79 instances of blood clots from the vaccine and of those 19 deaths, or 0.00009%. That is infinitesimally small, much smaller than the risk of a little kid going to intensive care. And obtw, have you ever had a kid in the ER much less intensive care? Do you even have kids? It is the worst experience possible to see your little one suffering while worrying they might not even make it. Anything to prevent that gets my full support. Kids should not suffer because of us adults.

The British government will be under a lot of pressure from the globalists to mandate the jabs for children but hopefully they will continue resisting.

That's the same reason have for not exposing their children to vaccines that have risks.

That is nonsense, the same lies used by parents in the US as an excuse to deny their children all the childhood vaccinations required to attend school. Our little boy will be vaccinated against Covid -19 at the earliest opportunity and when booster shots become available I will receive one as soon as possible.

The lack of any sort of respect for others in this pandemic is disheartening. It is not all about you and what you want. We have obligations to each other as human beings to do everything, every little thing, possible to arrest the spread of this pandemic. Measures you take do not just protect you but protect others. Out of respect for your neighbors, co-workers, friends and family members each of us has an obligation to wear masks, employ social distancing and get vaccinated. Your refusal to do these things harms others besides yourself. Have some respect for the people you live, work and shop with. In a situation like this everyone depends on everyone else to stop this pandemic. It is not just the other person's problem to solve while you go on your merry way.
