PM Johnson lies pretty much every time he speaks. The only difference this time is that it will directly cost people money in an easy-to-understand way written on their payslips, so this lie is being taken seriously.

As Zichi says, most care homes in the UK are privately run with varying standards and cost to the taxpayer for subsidized residents. With the exodus of EU workers and resulting staff shortages, I'd expect those standards to be even lower and the cost to the taxpayer higher.

Johnson is quite correct, the tax burden is going to be eye watering, what is noticeable, evident is the lack of balance and focus. The need to spread the burden across a range of tax alternatives. Direct taxation carefully directed at income groups.

The NHS needs reform, its burgeoning bureaucracy, the legions of middle management, the waste, the incompetence across every level of senior management of NHS England. There is no public accountability.
