Can’t say I agree with this policy. Really should effectively be a lockdown over Christmas or at least a much tighter regime, the R rate has already gone above 1 so permitting the degree of mixing they are going to allow over Christmas is a serious mistake.

Something the right level for the blonde tool.

It's not Brexit, Boris: measure twice, cut once.

I thought they started vaccine already.

So it should get better soon.

Or not?

For heavens sake go back to Downing Street, give whatever on your head a a saucer of milk, or a bowl of

Kitekat megamix in jelly. There are times in politics to run and hide. Now is the time.

whether it brings a return to normal life quickly, slowly, or not at all.

60% of the population need to be vaccinated before there’s a halt to the spreading.

So I guess 2021 will be the same like 2020....probably.

There were a few reports in the UK news of the govt saying it will take most of 2021 to vaccinate the country.

I hope Japan speeds up a little and this start date of March isn’t true. It will surely take us well into 2022, as Japan always has about 50million more population than the UK.

Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland have their own devolved governments and throughout the pandemic have often set rules that are different to the ones the British government ordered and took effect in England.

Really poor journalism.

Phase one of the vaccination programme, targeting those most vulnerable, should be finished in March. If Phase one is successful approximately 99% of those most vulnerable to Covid should be protected. Phase two will deal with the less vulnerable, then phase three is everybody else. Phase three won’t be finished until autumn/winter next year. It appears, should I be in the U.K., I would be in phase one.

Phase 1 = 1.1 million people

Phase 2 = 5.0 million

Phase 3 = 5.6 million

Phase 4 = 2.2 million

I don’t have the figures for the subsequent phases.

The UK has the highest deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Europe and NOT the second according to the UK government website ( Gov.uk) . The real number is 76,287 as of Friday 18 December. The government changed its counting criteria months ago and only people who died within 28 days of a positive test are counted. Separate figures by UK's statistics agencies suggest there has now been 81,000 deaths involving Covid-19.

Zichi, no it has mutated in to what appears to be a more transmissible form but as yet there is no evidence that it is more deadly or that this mutation will escape the current vaccines.
