Great news if the second dose is deliver in the correct time frame, otherwise the virus may mutate and render the vaccination ineffective.

@zichi All adults in the UK offered a first dose by July 31st.

Thanks to Brexit the UK wasn't hindered by EU bureaucracy, could vaccinate early, and lives were saved.

Even the first dose already gives a good amount of protection - the 2nd dose boosts it up even further
A virus mutation doesn't necessarily render the vaccination ineffective - it depends how significantly different the mutation such that your immunity no longer recognizes it as the same virus (think of it like plastic surgery - could you still recognize someone as the same person after having plastic surgery - if you still can, then you'll still treat that person the same way as you did before)
Mutations happen all the time because that's what micro-organisms do, but the good thing is, most mutations do not amount to anything much. Only a small percentage leads to something significantly changed. But the longer time we keep the virus spreading, the more chances we give the virus to mutate to something significant. That's why we should stop spreading the virus
