How many in the UK, or anywhere, actually own the piece of land they live on? Most people in the world rent a flat. Moreover, for those lucky enough to own a single family home on a plot of land, how often are those sold as the owner changes jobs, is transferred, or simply ages and seeks something along the lines of assisted living? At least with cremation you get a small box with the dog's name and his or her collar and tags to place on a shelf in memory. You can take this with you anywhere you move. For apartment dwellers this is important, but also for those who are aging out of their big homes. This is personal as I face this decision for a dog we love dearly who is dying of lymphoma.
