Unfortunately, a racist motivation for the attack cannot be ruled out as the students’ attacker was not an Anglo-saxon

Unfortunately, a racist motivation for the attack cannot be ruled out as the students’ attacker was not an Anglo-saxon

Best not speculate. Let’s wait and see, eh?

Some have got a bit hysterical in the past blaming certain groups they don’t like or ascribing motivations only to be proved wrong.

I am not speculating.

As a matter of fact, the arrested perp is a West African migrant-it’s now being reported even in the mainstream media

Eye witnesses describe the arrested as a man of colour with dreadlocks

The UK has a definite problem with migrants and violent attacks

Didn’t say he wasn’t.

Why mention that a racist motive can’t be ruled out?

There are countless things which can’t be ruled out. Why mention that one?

Has there been any mention of this in the mainstream or ‘alternative’ media?

Maybe because all the victims were white?

Seems pretty racist that a black man would murder unknown white people ‘only’

I’ll give our West African migrant the benefit of the doubt though, it could be that there weren’t any other migrants or people of colour around to attack at the time…

Tragic loss for two families.

@Jimizo

Has there been any mention of this in the mainstream or ‘alternative

Yes, of course there has

I work with reported facts not on biased opinions

A racist motive?

Sounds like the attacker has mental issues.

In these cases, the perp would be charged (amongst other charges) with a violent hate crime with a racist component.

This is the norm where a certain group is targeted

Coincidentally, past attacks would be on record and victims’ ethnicities would be on record too

If the police notice a pattern then it would be a sure thing that racism would be a factor in the case

According to the BBC News, the attacks were random.

If.

Going back to my original point, best not speculate here.

We’ve had too many cases of those hoping for a particular scenario getting a bit overexcited and being completely wrong.

I’d stay out of that company.

Were they? I'm not sure why you brought race into the comments, but just going by names, the female student who was killed would seem to be of mixed race. I've not read any details yet of the man whose van was stolen, but based on Nottingham's racial mix, the odds might suggest he was white.

@Jimizo

If this was the first time for this sort of attack to occur then I would more conservative in my assertions-it isn’t, so I’m not…

31 year old man arrested.... Why are they withholding the truth?

They know he is a recent African immigrant.

A 31-year-old man - believed to be a West African migrant with a history of mental health issues.....

Could the political connotations, may I contend the blow back, from what could be characterized, described, in old money as political correctness, contributed to the authorities reluctance to section this alleged murder?

It is a pertinent question to ask.

The devastation, loss, sorrow, misery for life, yes, for the families of the victims, there will not be a day, a night, any respite escaping what could have been. .

Three families are grieving, not two. The two university students, Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley Kumar were 19 years old. Ian Coates was 51 year old school caretaker. It was his van that was used in running down the three pedestrians.

Concentrate on the victims, not the murderer.

Any future inquiry will and must focus on the failure of the authorities and the police not to move to have this killer, a known unstable person prone to violent outbursts sectioned under mental health act.

Concentrate on the victims, not the murderer.

Yes, anything but ask why was a mental case murderer welcomed into the country.

Thankfully Japan doesn’t have any significant immigrant crime but the major cities in the UK do, especially London

Armchair commentary is all well and good but if you haven’t lived it then, well…,
