kurisupisu - Parliament will soon be massively changed...

It appears that Parliament needs to be changed for the same reason that a baby's diaper needs to be changed.

Parliament will soon be massively changed...

But after three years of inconclusive political wrangling over Brexit, British voters are weary and the results of an election are hard to predict.

The House of Commons voted 438-20 — with dozens of lawmakers abstaining — for a bill authorizing an election on Dec. 12. It will become law once it is approved Wednesday by the unelected House of Lords, which does not have the power to overrule the elected Commons.

....."There is only one way to get Brexit done in the face of this unrelenting parliamentary obstructionism, this endless, willful, fingers crossed, 'not me guv' refusal to deliver on the mandate of the people — and that is to refresh this Parliament and give the people a choice," Johnson said.

The road to polling day opened up when the main opposition Labour Party, which had opposed three previous attempts by Johnson to trigger an election, changed its position.

Parliament is still deadlocked. The people, more specifically, the voters, need to decide who they want representing THEM in Parliament. That gives the political parties six weeks to dirty the waters, sling mud, trash talk their opponents, lie, cheat, steal, an even tell the truth during the run up to the next election.

Don’t take my word for it!

The EU has refused to negotiate:Matteo Salvini, Michael Gove, Teresa May et al are on the record as stating so.

It is ‘weird’ when all on this forum have access to the internet but are seemingly too lazy to fact check for themselves....

Only the Liberals seem to be not split down the middle and to speak with one heart, but they perhaps represent the young more than the whole nation.

Don't put any faith in these polls, it is a fool's paradise, it is just a voter preference on a single given day, a moment in time, no more no less, twenty four hours later, a change of heart due to social media etc etc.

It is the x on the spot, in the polling booth that counts.

Going to have a flutter?

If so think number of seats, Labour.

Labour is going to get decimated as voters take revenge on them for aal their games they have been playing

Playing games? I think you're looking at the wrong party.

Lying to the queen to get a 5-week prorogation to stifle discussion of Brexit

Sending an unsigned letter accompanied by a signed letter saying 'they made me say it, please ignore it'

Getting a deal passed then refusing time for Parliament to go over it to check the details

Getting a deal with some very significant differences from the first deal, and trying to keep mps from scrutinising it

Selling Northern Ireland down the road

Both the Tories and Labour are simply playing party politics.

I hope there is a truly seismic shift and the Lib Dems sweep the board.

The EU has refused to negotiate the terms of a UK withdrawal and has been intransigent for over three years-the UK needs to leave this madness ASAP!

The EU has no obligation to negotiate - it is the UK that is leaving a large club with well established rules

Lets hope the British people vote in a Government that gets Britain out of the EU, lets hope both the Labor and Tories that have delayed Britains exit get voted out

"Ignoring the three years that they've been negotiating, the EU has refused to negotiate for three years."

It's always weird when posters make posts that clearly expose the poster for not knowing about the subject they are commenting on.

Let's git rid of Corbyn once and for all!

I like the idea of a choice between left and right although Corbyn is incompetent. I don’t want to see Labour reverting to Blairite compromises after he leaves. It’s a choice thing.

If this election was being fought on issues other than Brexit, Corbyn would be polling higher.

I want to see the back of the Bullingdon trash like Johnson, Cameron and Osborne.

Why would anyone in their right mind reward the folks who thought up the crazed idea of a referendum and thereby created the 3 year Brexit nightmare with a vote?

So democracy is a crazy idea now?

Do you want referendums on every important issue or shall we stick with the ones politicians call to save their own skins?

Now I'm confused. I thought it was American slang.

That's the first time I heard that.. maybe its both.

More LibDems and more SNP seem the only certainties, so that means less chance of a majority for the main parties.

More mess seems likely.

for any confused readers, johnson is a british slang term for a penis.

Sign: GET YOUR JOHNSON OUT OF OUR DEMOCRACY

> Har! Works a lot better than GET YOUR CORBYN OUT, though in fact he should be voted out.

can we just get on with it?? Brexit just seems like a very unpleasant version of groundhog day. They've been delaying it for NEARLY A YEAR. Can we please just be done with it already!?

Farage’s Brexit Party will sweep the election.

Hung parliament ( again ) looks the most likely outcome with the Tories as the largest party.

Who can they jump into bed with this time? Surely not the Liberals again...

The EU has refused to negotiate the terms of a UK withdrawal

What are you talking about? They've done nothing else. For most of it they've been waiting for British politicians to tell them what they wanted.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Another hung Parliament, a really stupid time of year to have an election; some parts of the UK will have terrible weather at this time, students will be ending term and may miss out on voting, people will be preparing for Christmas. This GE will not resolve the Brexit problem.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

I expect a hung parliament. Conservatives to get wiped out in Scotland and lose a few in the South East, but luck up a few marginals from Labour in areas with a disaffected working class. Liberal Democrats a d SNP to do well, getting 90 between them.

Labour to do worse than last time, Corbyn to resign, but he won't go willingly.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I expect and hope that the Conservatives win by a landslide. Labour is going to get decimated as voters take revenge on them for aal their games they have been playing.

-3 ( +9 / -12 )

When Labour loses an election that by all rights they should win by a landslide, maybe they'll figure out that they need to give the heave-ho to Corbyn, the unreconstructed Marxist they've chosen to be their leader.
