From the look of the citizens in these photos, the U.K. may also need to get some of its comorbidities (obesity, depression,) under control. Many look to be getting as fat as Americans, eh?

A step in the right direction. It's been 2 years and clearly Covid isn't going anywhere. Just get your jabs, wear your masks, and go about your day.
Meanwhile in Japan, there's excessive quarantine, closed borders, and this absolute sham of a quasi SoE.

That's some good news. Across the channel they're heading downhill in the other direction.

Interesting.
Implies that infection rates for vaccinated travellers aren't significant enough to warrant continued testing.
And infection rates for unvaccinated travellers aren't significant enough to warrant continued quarantine.
So relaxing/removing said measures isnot expected to add significantly to current covid burdens.
Good luck hopefully the projections hold

Zichi, true but it depends on where you are returning to Japan FROM. You may also be 'invited' to stay in a quarantine facility for 3 or 6 days before being allowed to finish your quarantine at home. I think for example, it is 6 days' quarantine for people entering from the UK.

Zichi, that is true. However, if you read farther down the page, you come to the exceptions which require quarantine in government facilities BEFORE being allowed to finish the 10 days at home. The UK is listed in the section that says;
*All cross-border travelers and returnees from some of the countries/regions which are separately listed among the designated countries/regions, are requested, for the time being, to stay for 6 days at facilities designated by the Chief of the Quarantine Station (limited only to those facilities secured by the Quarantine Station). In addition, those who obtain negative results of both COVID-19 tests conducted on the third and sixth days from the entry into Japan, may leave from facilities secured by the Quarantine Station, but are still required to stay for the remaining period of 10 days after the entry into Japan at places such as their own residence.*

Agreed. Same in a lot of countries. Japan is kind enough to not charge for your cell and cold bentos.
