Ah, merry old England.

Reading this I decided to see what BBC has to say. The specter of England ruled at sometime in the near future by the BNP seems terrifyingly real.

Good to see the least civilised elements of British society go at it. Hopefully they`ll slaughter one another and free the UK of their inconvenient presence.

Good ole Britain!! Most hateful English speaking country in the world. They hate all who has left her and all who has come from afar. Don't worry Brits. Your politicians will make the islamification of your country all legal so there is no need to fight it. It's coming.

I am pleasantly surprised by Japan Today's fairly even-handed reporting of yesterday's events. It is still shocking though that the "far-right extremists" and "anti-fascist" tags are not questioned to a greater degree by all news organizations and people generally.

@seijichuudo9sha:

The BBC is sadly no longer reliable as an unbiased reporter of the news. They are very left-wing. The reason that the BNP are growing in popularity is precisely because the concerns of ordinary "indigenous" British people regarding the immigration explosion and the growth of Islam are brushed aside as insular racism, when in fact they are nothing of the sort. The SIOE make it clear that they are not racist: they equally make it clear that they have a problem with Islam. In a truly free country they would be entitled to say so. Islam is not a race, it is a religious and political ideology. It should be permitted to have a discussion of Islam and its potential effects in a non-Islamic country. The PC stranglehold on language however, makes that increasingly difficult, and the result is what you read above. I really don't think that having such a discussion makes a person a fascist. The word is overused to the extent that it is now almost meaningless. It apparently means someone who doesn't accept the multicultural politically correct views of the British Labour Party.

This article mentions the figure of Oswald Mosley and 1936.And then goes on to say "Mosley’s pro-Nazi followers were met at Cable Street by Jews, communists and anarchists, and a pitched battle ensued."

But I remember right wingers in the States trying to smear Hillary Clinton by saying she interned for the husband of Mosley's sister-in-law,who it was claimed also held fascist views, when in fact they were actually more communist.

I wish the reporters would do their jobs proprerly.

Oswald Mosley, in 1968:“I am not, and never have been, a man of the right. My position was on the Left and is now in the centre of politics.”

@seijichuudo9sha: Good point.

"Mosley’s pro-Nazi followers were met at Cable Street by Jews, communists and anarchists, and a pitched battle ensued."

Nazis were left wing (National Socialists) not right-wing, so the above sentence (not including the Jews) describes a disagreement among factions of the left, not a dispute between left and right.

It's really quite sad to watch people like seijichuu come on here and try to spin this article as some sort of rant against the current US admin., or that 'Mosley was not Fascist, he was a Communist', etc.

Almost as sad as defending the fascists that are causing all this trouble. It's okay to be against something; that's called an opinion. But to say these people are not racist fanatics is almost as lunatic as the people inciting the problems in the first place.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So now smithinjapan is describing any Muslim who resists homegrown British racism a 'fascist' and saying they are the ones starting the trouble? I guess I'm not surprised given his support for right wing groups in Japan

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How is it that Islamic militants are ever labeled "Islamic fascists?" I'm always curious about who comes up with the terminology, because as we all know, the way that you're branded by the media is the way you come to be seen.

Were this anti-militant-Islamist group to be labeled as such, instead of "Islamophobic," the spin would have more of a "freedom-fighter" ring to it.

As I see it, protesting home-coming troops by calling them baby-killers is about as fascist as they come.

Mussolini would be proud.

Nazis were left wing (National Socialists) not right-wing...

LOL!! Really? Are you saying that because of the "socialists" in the name? Then I suppose you believe that North Korea is actually a "democratic republic."

If the Nazis were left wing, then why did the right-wingers (military and corporate heads) prosper so much under them, and why were the left wingers (communists, labor union leaders, liberal college professors and clerics, et. al.) rounded up and imprisoned or killed?

The UK is in a very tough position, too many possible terrorists in that country, meaning any Muslims with a complaint against British, Western, Christian, culture. What can UK do?? First keep the undercover spying, but at the same time, start deporting all the evil hate monger clerics in the UK, and for that matter get them all out of the EU. Once, the UK, the EU, the USA etc..stands up to these evil clerics and makes more room for them in sunny Guantanamo, they will think twice before trying anymore terrorists activities.

The above article is pulled piecemeal from the Guardian newspaper & quotes John Denham, none Brits may not realise what that amounts to, those who do will take the entire thing with a pinch of salt. Even among British politicians Denham is seen as a fool & the Guardian really couldn’t be any more left wing if it tried. Add somebody’s comment about the BBC & what you have is meaningless picture that lacks any balance.

Over the last 12 years the British Labour party have worked very hard to create protections for the Muslim community in Britain, & what was originally a well meant scheme just went on & on until it became so unbalanced that it is now generating a back lash from the indigenous population. This coupled with out of control immigration & a benefits system that seems to favour none whites while legally silencing whites from protesting is creating a growth in the extreme right wing parties which seem to be the only parties that are offering a voice to the indigenous population. The Labour Party by their actions are polarising political opinion into extremes & neither of the other two leading political parties (Conservative & Liberal) are offering anything that the electorate believe will make a difference. The extreme right (BNP & others) are feeding on this chaos & discontent, & they have until May of next year (General election) to gain as much political ground as they can.

Labour policy & ineffectual opposition have fragmented the political character of the country allowing the extreme right to gain credibility. What we are seeing is small & in general unimportant little political groups taking the limelight, groups that under normal circumstances no one would ever pay any attention to. Extremes create extremes & that is what Labour policy has done. We will all have to wait until after the dust has settled after next May’s election before we can see just how much damage has been done.

By the way, Hitler called his political party the National Socialists, but only a fool would imagine the Nazi party was anything but a fascist party. The word “socialist” within any political party’s name means absolutely nothing, neither right nor left. Semantic games, nothing else.

I would tend to agree but we all know that British political correctness will prevail. This feeling of guilt they have because of the hatefulness British have had for others for so long especially after the end of their Empire has caused this imbalance that now Britain and it's people are willing to bend over backwards for it's immigrants and they are making it illegal for the indigenous populations to be treated fairly. Britain is a victim of itself. Finally though it is good to see that now they are paying for their own hate filled attitudes by getting a taste of their own medicine. One day again they will be begging America to come to the rescue and after she does, they'll so soon forget and start with their hatefulness against her. Britain cannot help biting the hand that feeds it.

This type of situation will invariably continue and in all likelihood increase in frequency as well as intensity. Not just in the UK, but throughout Western Europe.

As the native populations perceive themselves as becoming more and more second class citizens in their own lands, it is just a matter of time before the weakest links snap. And there will always be those, with their own agendas, that will do anything to enhance just those perceptions.

As the Western European governments continue down their paths of appeasement and political correctness, it will become obvious to a sizable number of the native populations that in the end the only two options they really have are capitulation or elimination.

CCR said it best, “There’s a Bad Moon on the rise”.

So willing are Brits to see the "Ugly American" they forget to check the mirror for the "Ugly Brit". This is why they are awash in their own PCness. It counters their past hatefulness. I'm sorry to see that some Brits still are that stupid or brainwashed.

Shakedown 2009 rallies in UK.

UK is very used to all sorts of rallies since time immemorial.

That is they have those time immemorial laws.

I tend to agree with Ebudanexicano, though I think I wouldn’t be quite so extreme in the way I would express myself. Really it is true the anti-immigrant feeling throughout Europe is growing & neither the individual EU governments nor the EU itself are helping matters with the introduction of laws that protect immigrants at the expense of the native populations. What we are seeing now is in Britain, but disturbances of this kind are taking place in Germany, France, Spain & Italy. EU populations are moving to the right because they see the right offering them some hope. As for Britain getting pay back for being “hateful”, well that could be said about so many countries that it is meaningless. But then if you have an axe to grind I don’t suppose truth really comes into the “reasoning”.

While I'm proud of British diversity, the absurd political correctness that has seen (for example) the introduction of Sharia Law (which is OPENLY biased against women and rabidly homophobic) into the UK is making many people, from left-wing PC droids, to right-wing nut cases, plus a huge swathe of reasoned thinking people inbetween, question the direction this is all going.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Say no to racism! Get the t-shirt. Be somebody.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Taiko666 - I'd like an example of Britain introducing Sharia law, its just not the case. The British governments commitment is to allowing Sharia practices as long as they do not break UK law.

The English Defense League are using muslims as a scape goat for the frustrations of many who are having a tough time at home right now. For as long as i can remember there has always been a surge in far right support when times are hard. The English Defense League have used the illconceived and quite rightly denegrated home coming protest as a lever and found a willing audience, unfortunately.

Didn't British voters recently send 2 ultra right wing politicians to the EU parliament to represent their country.Shameful.One day it's oil for terrorists and the next it's back to Cable Street and 1936.

seijichuudo9sha - "Didn't British voters recently send 2 ultra right wing politicians to the EU parliament to represent their country"

British voters in two districts elected two British National Party MEPS to represent their districts in Brussels. While I agree it's dissapointing they were elected in the first place, they do not represent the UK. You need to get some perspective.

Britain is largely ambivalent to European elections and on the last occasion there was a historically low voter turnout. As unpleasant as they are, the BNP are hardly ultra rightwing, with the exception of their racist policies they are, overtly at least, fairly middle of the road and they got in on a tiny vote. But, like the English Defense League, Muslim extremists and you, the BNP do use inflammatory language and cherry pick sound bites for their own ends. With statements like "One day it's oil for terrorists and the next it's back to Cable Street and 1936" and the one above you align yourself with all the mischief makers who want to destabilise politics.

Recent months have shown just how successful these idiots can be at gaining the ear of the ineffectual, the desperate and the dissaffected and its not for the greater good.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Can you blame them really? Sixty-nine years ago some of the young men of Britain (granted, and other commonwealth nations, the Poles, etc) fought in the skies over southern England to prevent invasion by the Germans, only to have the nation otherwise given away through immigration. No wonder the older folks are joining the BNP. They feel betrayed and that their country is no longer their own. I can't say as I blame them. Label it racism of you'd like (athough as someone sensibly pointed out, in the case of the article topic, Islam is not a race but rather a religion) but there is a distinct difference between getting a family or two of immigrants in the neighborhood and having whole areas taken over. Again, call me racist, but how would a Muslim community in - say - Pakistan feel if I and 5,000 of my closest christian relatives and friends suddenly moved into their community? Would we be welcomed? I bet not. And how would any of you feel - living as you likely do in your comfortable and familiar communities feel to be so suddenly and strenuously 'invaded'? I'm not anti-immigration, but uncontrolled immigration is a proven nightmare.

tigermoth - The UK has had large scale immigration for way more than the last 60 years, largely successfully too. Ghettos are nothing new either. Immigration isnt the issue.

The recent anti-muslim campaign by the English Defense League is an attempt to increase membership and gain influence, they even state its Islam they're against, not other races.

The young men of Britain that fought over the skies of southern England that you mention were fighting for their country and the freedoms and democracy that it still represents today. They had no issues with the many thousands that fled to Britain to escape the nazis, and other despotic regimes since.

The attitudes you talk about come from poverty and lack of opportunity. Using half truths and spinning the image of positive action, the perception that immigrants are to blame is as easy to perpetuate as the notion that the West, and Britain in particular, is to blame for all the problems that exist in the Muslim world but no less wrong. Poverty and frustration are a great breeding ground for hate on all sides. Its that that needs tackling not one group or another.

HAHAHA and they say that americans aren't stupid or brainwashed, just the name ''bushlover'' says it all

Funny how Americans like bushlover are so quick to insult others but chose not to look in their own backyard. 'None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free'
