Defending by hiding in the basement? The last few "neo not nice guys" get a lot of press in the western media...

Not so much mention of the towns and villages falling in the east. I wonder why that is?

the CIA said Saturday it saw no indication Moscow was preparing to use tactical atomic weapons in the Ukraine conflict.

But as the anti-US/west hordes say, but who believes the CIA or anything said by the US government. Putin/Lavrov/ the kremlin spokespeople an their media made huge mistakes saying nukes were on the table. But I do not believe anything said by any of them, and Lavrov has shown he is to diplomacy what a king cobra is to household pets, or Tucker, Hannity and Alex Jones are to journalism, i.e he is not a diplomat, he's just a flak for his warmongering nation's leaders.

Lavrov warns ‘serious’ nuclear war risks should not be underestimated

Somewhere it was in the news that a betraying electrician who had plans of that underground tunnels area gave the information to the Russians for infiltration. On the other side I ask myself why the Ukrainian defenders don’t have a plan or map of that area although it was in their possession for years, so that they could define weak or neuralgic points of possible infiltration and defend those entrances into the labyrinth. When ‘watching’ that war as a bystander in other countries one could easily come to the conclusion, that on both war parties not the lamp’s brightest bulbs are having the command. They should have played that out in a sandbox or kindergarten’s chessboard, those idiots. Now they are all fighting and dying for an almost nothing or an in fact p.o.s.

Obviously we all sympathise with Ukraine, but frankly the destruction of the neo-nasty Azov Regiment would be one of the very few good things to come out of this war.

It’s not a huge military presence by Ukrainian forces. Just 10sq km at best. Good job if you support Ukrainian, more than embarrassing thing if you support Russia. Although the Russians did hit a school so remember be careful with a rabid animal. Adults in uniform, trained not so easy to kill….but women, especially children even when clearly marked that’s awesome. If your Russian.

Worth 3,238 civilians including 227 children dying?

From now on the Azov battalion will be remembered as national hero's in Ukraine and the wider world for defending against invading Russian hordes for months while out gunned and outnumbered. Russia can call them anything they like but the fact is they have been a tough nut for the Russian forces to crack. Russia has for months thrown artillery and missiles at the defenders who have managed to hold off the orcs.

Russia has ensured the Azov battalion will be written into history as defenders of the people. Like the Spartans of old they battled against huge odds and bought time for their people with their lives.

An evacuee from a few days earlier was interviewed by a German publication. She said the Azov Battalion was holding them hostage and using them as human shields. She also said according to her the Ukranian state has died.

Kherson in the south remains the only significant city Russia has managed to capture since the war began.

While losing thousands of troops, several Generals, a large portion of their hardware and 2 significant warships.

May 9th isn’t going to be much of a celebration.

The complex -- the final pocket of Ukrainian resistance in the devastated port city -- has taken on a symbolic value in the war

By the way - this city was build by Russians not Ukrainians.

Mariupol is a part of Donbass - Russian populated area in a state Ukraine.

This conflict has a strong inner reasons - interethnic.

Whatever Poo tin does he has lost.

Even if the orcs kill the last heroic defenders of Mariupol all they have succeeded in doing is immortalise them, they will be a far more potent and powerful symbol than they were alive and it will do the raschist orcs and their Poo tin no more good than victory over the Spartans at Thermopylae did for Darius and the Persians or Santa Anna at the Alamo.

No matter how much raschist propaganda the desperate pro fascist/russian/Poo tinistas spout, the reality is that the russian invasion of Ukraine failed, they were defeated and retreated and now plan c isn’t going very well for them either. Yes they have made a few small advance’s (while being pushed back elsewhere) at very heavy cost but they are nowhere near the objectives they aimed to reach well before this and all the time their military is being degraded, their morale is already at rock bottom and meanwhile Ukrainian forces are being re-equipped with modern western weapons.

Let us not forget that NATO and the the west are the ones who De Nuclearized Ukraine , have it give up it's air fleet and left it wide open for putin to slaughter it's people. read this article.

I don't like the way this article was written.

It's as if they are making fun of the conflict and reporting like a sporting event challenge.

How many times do they have to mention the Russia victory day ?

Poking fun at Putins underwater parade and boasting about aid given weapons doing distruction.

Thinking about the safety and evacuation of civilians and along those that have perished due to this ridiculous needless conflict is truly sad and frustrating.

Don't be surprised if putin looses his marbles and declares an all out war.

Why is it taken as a given that once Azov is crushed no further threat remains to the city.

The threat is the Russian invaders, not the Ukraine defenders.

Mariupol is a part of Donbass - Russian populated area in a state Ukraine.

The territory is Ukraine regardless of what nationalities may inhabit it. It will eventually be liberated by Ukraine forces.

The "brave defenders" could always come out of their hiding place without their weapons with their hands up and enjoy a long and happy life.

For a few hours, or maybe days, before disappearing never to be seen alive again? Not much of an option for the brave defenders.

The "brave defenders" could always come out of their hiding place without their weapons with their hands up

to be tortured and shot.

Remember russia always says the exact opposite of what they mean (no invasion of Ukraine is planned; we're attacking only military targets, not school or hospitals or theatres filled with children; we set fire to our own flagship: we never intended to take Kyiv in the first place) so we all know what Lay down your arms and surrender, you'll be safe means.

Dying now in the basement of the steel mill will have no affect on the outcome of the conflict.

See above. They die on their own terms, hopefully taking a few orcs with them, or they die on the orc terms.

War is 2 sides.

So, the fanatics are intent on attacking the security perimeter for a propaganda victory over the allies who have liberated the last major city in Donetsk from the forces of the Kiev regime.

All the effort to try and turn it into a modern day Alamo can't hide that it is really closer to another confrontation that happened in Texas at Waco.

It is noteworthy that outside the bubble of those who want to portray this as unpopular forces conquering a devastated city, long time municipal workers are removing the signs that the Kiev regime ordered erected, and local politicians staging photo ops restoring the precoup signs in the local language as the population cleans up the mess and damage of the Kiev regime's occupation of Donetsk.
