Russia continues to rely on The Wagner Group to do its dirty work.

End of the month conscripts who signed a three month contract to fight are legally free. Unless Russia introduces draconian measures they have a manpower problem. Corruption has artificially inflated their actual number of combat trained, ready troops. Now they are scrambling to find these troops and have already raised the age limit on recruiting. Not looking good Russia.

Ukraine is pathetic, they do not provide their military, with basic thing, soldiers need to fight, soldiers have to provide buy their own supplies,

Russia is increasingly dependent on units known to have poor discipline and an active delight in committing war crimes, from the Wagner Group’s mercenaries and neo-Nazi groups such as Rusich. It may simply be that Putin cannot be picky as it needs all the fighting men it can get. But it is more likely that it also sees some advantage in trying to terrorise the Ukrainians, hoping that this will undermine their will to resist.

Odessa isn't as important as it was. At least from the perspective of the war. It's very high up on the list for liberation due to cultural and historical reasons but like in the World Cup, Ukraine kicked a own goal by mining and scuttling ships in the port. Now it's cut off from the Black Sea no matter what the Russians are doing. The Russians should liberate other cities before Odessa.

Who would have believed Russia would be in a quagmire in Ukraine six months ago? I think we all assumed it would be over quickly.
Does Russia know what it's doing?

Ukraine as a nation state of 100% the artificial construct of imperialism. Lenin and the Bolsheviks and then Stalin didn't expand the size of the relatively minor oblast by around 400-500% because it was meant to be an independent state.
Mr Kipling
Sorry Mr Z...... its gone for ever. The Dombas, the south, Crimea.... Russian.
Odessa? Probably by Christmas.
Your choice as president is how many of your soldiers must be sacrificed? Not an easy decision but one that needs to be made. The US/NATO miscalculation isn't costing them lives.

So Russia is willing to risk global food shortages and possible famines so Putin and his oligarchs can claim look how big our territory is. Recall Putin and Lazrov also claimed at one time that nukes were on the table, and that they might fire missiles to Europe. Yet some in democratic states are supporting Russia to become the new imperium. Meet the new boss, probably so much worse than the old ones.

Superlib, would you want to be a recipient of Russian quagmire,if you are Ukrainain, the hovac they brought too the lives of Ukrainain, the longer they quagmired in Ukraine, the misery they will bring to Ukrainain for the duration, everybody knows Russia is wrong, but the Russian

PT,we do more trade with Mexico, than we ever did with Russia, because Russian have nothing most Americans do not need and cannot afford like Vodka and Caviar

And oil........ And platinum, palladium, nickel, niobium, cobalt, graphite, lithium and much, much more. Even more plentiful commodities such as wood, fish, fertilizer. What does USA have that Russia wants to buy? Absolutely nothing!

SuperLib, regarding reliable sources, you probably do as I: read multiple sources you consider "reliable," and if a number of them present what they claim to be facts and statistics, and if those jive with what is observed happening on the ground, they can be considered reliable. Do not rely on a single source and do not let your preconceptions and/or emotions interfere with your judgements.
I recently found a good website to add to the mix: the Moscow Times. According to Wikipedia:
https://www.themoscowtimes.com/
Their lead article today is about Russian conscripts being sent to Ukraine, a big no-no and certain to anger Russian mothers. Anger Russian mothers and fear for your head.

So the Russians are "liberating " the east as the area is supposedly pro russia. I wonder how they feel about having their families killed, area flattened, and all the infrastructure destroyed by their so called "saviours." They must feel so grateful. I'll give you a little hint....this war has nothing to do with "liberation", rather it is about stealing resources and arable land. If you think the russians give a hoot about the people then you really do need your head read.
The Avenger
I don't think we are being told truth about all this. I doubt if we ever have been.
Ingvar
Of course they are.
We see how they feel about it. They've been stewing for 8 years about NATO's Neo-Nasites terror bombing in the east and regime of terror in the rest of the country. They warned on countless occasions it has to stop but it didn't and now we see the result.
In their bid to get cheap oil, gas and etc, NATO is now paying x3 or 4 for it for a long time to come and Russia is about to get still bigger by a significant extent even for Russia.
Putin said around a week ago, "Western regimes overestimated their own power."

Laguna, thanks, I will check it out!

Laguna, the only reason, you found it , because I mentioned it

Generally, for every one death, three are wounded. The Guardian notes, "The Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda, which frequently posts pro-Kremlin news reports, published a bombshell buried deep in a news story about the war: “According to Russian defence ministry data … 9,861 Russian soldiers had been killed in action and another 16,153 had been wounded.” Given historical averages of three wounded for every one killed, Russia may have suffered as many as 40,000 casualties. (Russia subsequently claimed the site was hacked, but that does not make the stats any less reliable.) Furthermore, Russia has been tossing into the meat grinder mostly ethnic minorities and Russians from poorer areas, sparing citizenry of such cities as St. Petersburg and Moscow. How long Russia can continue providing troops, whether they will resort to citizens from cities, and how minorities will react is to be seen.

Of course Zelensky also says that the Mariupol Mole Militants were evacuated, rather than surrendered (and were surrendering before he changed his no surrender order) so there's that.
Cricky
A small note, the President of the Ukrainian again personally visited front line troops. Has Putin visited his troops at all? Or is he scared to see those he sent to their deaths.
stormcrow
The Ukrainians are tough. Come on, Ukraine! Drive those devils out!
Antiquesaving
Would does troops be on the actual front line or the for Propaganda front line like when Ukrainian troops took the border post but actually didn't but the video says they did
Or like the ghost of Kyiv that all on his own shot down 40 plus Russian jets but again didn't because there was no such person, all propaganda.
See that is the problem we know not to believe anything Moscow says but we are told everything Ukraine claims is the truth.
Now slowly the west is starting to see the cracks on the fake news and propaganda and now western leaders are realizing the war isn't what Ukraine say it is.
This is why western European leaders are now starting to talk about " compromise" ( AKA Ukraine losing land to Russia permanently).
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
What makes Zelensky going to the front lines propaganda? Also, it seems you feel all western media is biased. Where do you get your news from?

I would add others favoring national socialism, also won't admit that Russia was wrong for invading and brutalizing Ukraine. But then the extreme right reason more like chimpanzees.
