Do what you want, Russia will never return the newly liberated territories, losers..

Harr, they can't give back what was never their's to give, and Ukraine will soon get back all the territory which is rightfully theirs.

I never realized “liberated” and “stolen” were entirely interchangeable words.

From yesterday:

Bronco

After having failed to take Kherson in a botched attempt last month, Zelensky's last remaining offensive forces are being led into a trap.

Axel

How are the battles in Kherson oblast going?

Hopefully, this answers your questions:

Ukrainian forces achieved their biggest breakthrough in the country's south since the war began, bursting through Russian defenses and advancing rapidly along the Dnipro River on Monday, threatening supply lines for thousands of Russian troops.

26 ( +28 / -2 )

Go, Ukraine! Drive the invaders OUT!

23 ( +25 / -2 )

hose poor guys were caught in fire traps. I mean, if they were regular Ukranian army as opposed to the ........ more undesirable elements so popular in Western Ukraine

Those "poor guys" are out maneuvering and out fighting the Russians forcing the Russians to retreat and cede territory back to Ukraine.

Russia will never return the newly liberated territories

Does 'Russia' mean Putin, and do his supporters actually think a male who waddles when he tries to walk is healthy enough to stay in control of his country until 2036?

21 ( +22 / -1 )

Sounds promising, this could lead to the surrender of the 25,000 russian troops trapped west of the Dnipro. Poo tin will have difficulty explaining this “good will gesture”. The orcs capacity for offensive operations, already degraded will be even more limited as much of this force was stripped from other fronts.

20 ( +20 / -0 )

Regular Ukranian army can surrender and will be treated well. Not so for the said undesirable elements.

Yes, I'm sure they'll get a nice warm bed and a cup of cocoa. Something that might you might benefit from.

Those areas were 'Forever Russia' for about 3 days. Humiliating.

Watch, out, Ukes. Putin will respond by deploying reluctant conscripts with 2 weeks training and rusty old Soviet rifles. Build more POW camps and dig more graves.

18 ( +18 / -0 )

This is clearly turning into a rout - the Russian lines are collapsing and its Army running as fast as is can to its borders...

What will the Little Dictator in the Kremlin do now?

Expect even more faux chest-thumping bluster and bombast...empty words from the emperor that has no clothes...

@Broonc0Even Musk, who is generally anti-Russian,

Musk is a private individual whose views might be similar to those of many US members of the Guardians of Putin Party, i.e. the Trumptuck sect of Republican anti-American extremists. He's one person with rights to publicly express an opinion. In most democracies that is still permitted, another way democracies differ from autocracies. Musk has got even richer doing lots of business in China. What would happen if Musk questioned the policies of the CCP, which he probably would not do, because he's not going to bite hands hat feed him. And it's doubtful many of. the US's extremists are going to replace their gas-guzzling Ford pickups and buy a Tesla, or an e-car of any type.

Now that so many Russian men have fled Russia to avoid mobilization

The Russians are forcibly conscripting draft age males from the newly annexed regions of Ukraine, seeing as how they are now considered to be Russian citizens. What could possibly go wrong?

16 ( +16 / -0 )

Now that so many Russian men have fled Russia to avoid mobilization and been exposed to international (uncensored) news, it must getting more difficult for the Kremlin to control information. These men are surely still communicating with their families. Hopefully this will have a positive effect in Russia.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

But, Russia definitely seems to be losing.

And losing badly. No wonder the main Putin apologists are a little quieter today.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

LOL, Putin is losing the conflict in Ukraine!

Look for China or NK to run interference in the media by making some provocation to the distract from Putin's humiliating losses.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Do what you want, Russia will never return the newly liberated territories, losers..

LOL !!..

This is the equivalent of a fully grown man entering a karate tournament for 8 year olds, losing badly to the 8 year olds, then taunting them from a safe distance afterwards.

Putin is losing control of Russia's information space as Russian nationalist ***** wake up after 22 years of hibernation and complain "Russia is a corrupt Mafia state kleptocracy and its army is not the second best in the world and a Potemkin army".

The faster Russia goes backwards the better. Fewer of their poorly trained call-ups will have to be killed trying to keep Putin in power. It makes the so called annexation a very sad joke.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

For those who remember, who were paying attention, during Pres. Obama's term he was asked about the threat from Russia on numerous occasions and his answer was always about the same. Russia is not the threat everyone fears. Their economy was comparable to Italy, and their military was nothing to worry about, except of course that they had an aging nuclear missile capacity.

Putin is through and through a KGB trained operator. Not a military strategist. He uses misinformation and fear to manipulate. He's losing power within his own country and in the world as his power to intimidate and make people afraid is waning. That's all he has.

Russia has not really been tested as an army the past 20 years since their withdrawal from Afghanistan in the 90s. A modern military like the US has been tried more and is constantly trained. Whether people want to admit or not, The US is much better prepared for a conventional war.

The saddest part are the conscripts being forced to their deaths. What will happen to all the Russian truck drivers, school teachers, factory workers, farmers, and anyone else holding societies day to day jobs? A slowdown in the economy? Shortages and emergencies in winter? Major failures at the home front?

It is no different than Japan in WWII forcing military personnel to go on Kamikaze missions.

China and India will be the winners of this conflict because they are opportunists. China's interest in Russia is to take advantage to whatever extent they can of Russian resources. India is waiting to take what China cannot.

Putin is growing more isolated and headed for retirement.

Well done to the Ukrainians - taking back THEIR sovereign land piece by piece, while the cowards flee back to Russia like the dogs they are.

Ukrainians will never give up on their nation. Shaky Mini-me has underestimated them - to his own catastrophe.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Rodney, thank you for that, I needed a good laugh!

Sadly for you your slobbering orc mates are engaged in their usual high skill exercise of running away, no doubt as per normal, dumping the wounded to make room for their loot.

I have to question what 300,000 unfit old men and criminals armed with rusty AK47’s, 60 year old tanks and little else will achieve, save literally soaking up Ukrainian ammunition and fertilising the good black earth. That is if they can sort out the shambolic mess currently in progress in russia that passes for a mass call up and get them to the front before it reaches the border, always providing they don’t refuse to be deployed or surrender as soon as possible (a very sensible move).

11 ( +12 / -1 )

ridiculous conflict

I prefer the term ‘invasion’ over ‘conflict’ and I think ‘appalling’ does a better job than ‘ridiculous’.

I have no time for euphemisms in situations like this.

You can spot the apologists doing a third-rate job with this kind of language.

Ridiculous.

Ever notice that the UA doesn't need to leave any troops behind to garrison or occupy the territories it liberates?

Golly, I wonder why? Wouldn't the liberated areas, that supposedly voted by 97% or more to join Russia require garrison troops to keep the locals in line and keep supply lines open and free of sabatoge?

But they don't. In the MAJOR rail and logistics hub they took yesterday, the UA was already gone by the time CNN arrived on the scene. There were no troops left in the town.

Funny, maybe - JUST MAYBE - the "referendum" was a fraud, the line about the locals wanting to break away has been BS since day 1 (of 2014) and that they are dead glad to have the Russians gone and the UA back?

That seems more likely.

The steadfastness, courage, sacrifice, of the Ukrainian people, it's servicemen, mean they can win, repelling and casting out an enemy that has no honour, courage, valour, the encroacher, invader.

Let this be a lesson that dictatorships whether Russian or Chinese will never prevail.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Putin will call up those males from the newly annexed regions. Price to be paid.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Good strategic move by the Ukrainians to cut off Crimea from the rest of the Kherson territory and claim it back in the process! Putin has become a pariah in a world that is denouncing him, his regime and giving Russia and Russians a bad reputation, just like what tRump is doing to America... We can live together side by side without those two! Voting Dems this year guarantees a Ukrainian victory over Russia, voting GOP and trump will guarantee capitulation to Russia and Putin which the GOP strangely support and trump admires!

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Awa no Gaijin

Neither side appears to be winning this ridiculous conflict.

But, Russia definitely seems to be losing.

One thing worth noting is the number of cities and towns that, when they were ruled by the government of West Ukraine weren't worth a mention or two when they were cleared of Zelensky's men,

Not at all. They were described as the important hubs that they are.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Putin will call up those males from the newly annexed regions. Price to be paid.

If those people being called up are truly apart of the Russian supported-rebel forces in those regions then their defeat at the hands of the Ukrainian army would kill two birds with one stone for the Ukrainian government.

If they are not part of the rebel groups, hopefully, they have the common sense to surrender or defect. Once again, that will be another benefit for Ukraine.

Ukrainain do not realize, this administration ,and no future US government will ever ratify Ukraine as a member of NATO,yet they go behind US and keep this delusional alive,

What article are you going on about now? Certainly not this one!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Another win for Ukraine and soon the final act will come for Russia's invaders!

On the retreat, saving their lives (if possible) and leaving not just equipment but even the last ones behind.

Putin is just such a genius, 3 day limited operation now 223 days, gains close to none, elimination 60.000 plus Russian troops (more than the US lost during the complete Vietnam war), economy soon to be down the drain, allies close to none (except for those other dic{k}tatorships), navy on the seabed, airforce on the ground, tanks scrap metal .....

Yeah, Russia will (NOT) win!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The Russians probably let them through and then wiped them out from afar while taking no losses themselves

Probably, eh?

The wobbling lower lip is almost visible.

Im not sure that you know this, but Vlad’s not immortal and he won’t live forever. Forever isn’t a long time for dictators, never was, and will never be.

One thing worth noting...

Imaginary things aren't worth noting.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Hopefully this will have a positive effect in Russia.

It’ll be like China and Chinese citizens abroad who start fearing for their families. However, it’ll also be like Iran and there’ll be an uprising against the torture and murder in Russia for which America will receive the blame.

There are videos all over Telegram of what happened.

And THAT is how you know this is a lie.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

In "The Sun also rises" one character asks another "How did you go bankrupt?" The answer: "Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”

So too it was with the Soviet Union and so too it is proving to be with the Russian "army."

They aren't just antiquated, poorly trained and poorly equipped. They are horribly lead and now are on the verge of wholesale collapse. This was not immediately apparent at the beginning of the confict an some of their tactical decisions were so utterly stupid, and their equipment so comically bad, it was honestly hard to wrap one's head around it.

The entire Army, set up to be an offensive tool to overrun NATO, has been revealed to be a military version of a Potemkin village.

No wonder their doctrine relies so heavily on nuclear weapons employment. They couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Seems clear if they're quoting Russian state media

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

One thing worth noting is the number of cities and towns that, when they were ruled by the government of West Ukraine weren't worth a mention or two when they were cleared of Zelensky's men, flourished until they are labelled as 'important', 'vital', or 'logistics hub' a few months later when they are, once afain, being forced to pay money to Zelensky and the gangs that back him.

Will these cities and towns retain the advances they made while free of Zelensky for a few months through the next several months? Seems unlikely
