Well, HIMARS seemed to have worked pretty well. It allowed many areas to be retaken without any casualties on the Ukrainian side.

The big mistake was letting Russia think they could get away with their invasion.

I've lost count of all the 'game changers'. People have gotten so used to NATO decimating whomever the ruling regimes designate 'bad' (While NATO backs the most reactionary forces wherever they exist or can be raised), people just thought the same would be true of Russia. Big mistake!

US, Reamers, when has the US last won a war,you must be delusional to put your faith in the insecure government in Ukraine, even the US government say it a lost cause

Little Putin's war of aggression using Ukrainian territory as a chess board to expand Moscow's sway over East Europe and check the contagious creep of Western influence while affording the midget the chance of a lifetime to overcome his life-long inferiority complex and burnish his name in the annals of Russian history as another "Great" cannot succeed since, no matter how corrupt and weak the Kyivan authorities may be, Leningrad Vlad has given power to the people by uniting the population of the Ukraine as never before in their history and giving them a national identity to die for. Funny how history turns out, innit?

The Ukrainian claim of more than 1,000 Russian troops killed over a day could not be independently verified, and Russia has also claimed to have killed large numbers of Ukrainian troops in recent weeks.

In the next few weeks, Russia are expect to throw many bodies into the meat grinder. Expect to hear of many casualties. The conscripts are being sacrificed for Putin's pride.

sad to read that both sides losing young men for the vanity of the fat oligarchs back in Moscow. Russians need to rise up against these hypocrites

Real or not, it’s always good to hear about the Russians getting a thrashing.

When "Leopards" are once again spotted in Crimea, it'll be checkmate for the Rooskies. It is to be hoped the Tartar minority will receive better treatment from the Ukrainians than they did from the high-handed Russian occupiers.

Kuku,

"......Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia ....."

"....... said the first deputy permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky."

Those parts of your quote say and explain it all.

Human rights in RuSSia are being violated day by day!

Polyansky shouldn't even be at the UN. RuSSia got no business there!

Ukraine prevails!

About time that Ukraine receives the highly needed military hardware!

This will be a game-changer - RuSSians will be on the run back home!

Expect more tanks, missiles, just any equipment to be provided so Ukraine can defend its freedom!

Ukraine prevails!

It was the high number of casualties from the Soviet Union's ill-fated invasion of Afghanistan that brought down that regime. Russia's general mobilization (read: draft) will bring what was heretofore a far-away, little known conflict home to the Russian people. Will they stand for it? Doubtful. Putin may be digging his own grave.

It’s only not real in the heads of Puttie’s rubes and fan-bois.

For the mothers and wives of the dead sent to UKRAINE on a BS lie, it’s all too real.

Hear of and witness. No shortage of videos on Telegram and Twitter. This is the most recorded war ever, by a long shot.

The leopard 1 tanks are much less sophisticated than the leopard 2. The main ammunition storage is to the left of the driver and is not contained behind protective bulkheads. Any round that penetrates the tank can set off that ammunition and cook off the tank. They are a fairly reliable medium tank at 44 tonnes with average armor. They will need bolt on reactive armor to improve survivability, and this added weight will slow them down. They have a main gun of rifled 105 mm firing NATO rounds including HESH, APFSDS, AP, HE, Splintex and white phos rounds.

I would say they will be more accurate than the T72's but if hit will be destroyed as easily as a T72 would be. So getting 100-200 of these tanks will not turn the tide. The new Leopard 2's, Challengers and Abrams have much higher survivability and that is what Ukraine needs.

Anyway you look at it this is a sad situation. I have not been to Russia but was surprised how beautiful Ukraine is. The west is like Iowa, Kansas, the Midwest. Kyiv is a beautiful city on the Dnieper. I never went to the black sea cities but am told they are more beautiful.

So many dead people all for Putler's ego. He never seemed to mind it when propping up a communist state in Cuba. I guess Cubans are realizing Russian support was limited to supplying them with outdated arms and a few scraps while buying their sugar at below market prices. Poor Cubans. Hypocrite Putler.

Russian leaders don't care about the people. Look at their history, Czars, Stalin just throw masses of their people who have been brain washed by their one sided media to be ultra nationalistic. Then there are the political officers behind them who shoot them if they don't advance.

Let's hope the Ukrainians can regain their territory that was stolen in 2014 and the mothers and wives of Russia force the stop of the war without being sent to the Gulag before many more die. Otherwise it is a war of attrition and the world will be dragged in because Ukraine just does not have enough men ~40mm v 140mm. Additionally, demographically men from 20-35 is a smaller percent of the population in UA. Interesting that both are experiencing declining populations while the US population is exploding. Perhaps the asylum seekers will serve in the army for their citizenship like so many prior immigrants in the USA/

These are hard times for the UA to be sure. Even successful defense exacts a materiel and psychological toll.

And due to NATO intransigence, the UA will likely have to absorb and repel another large scale attack before the Western MBTs are deployed.

But if they can hang on a bit longer, the tide of this conflict will swing permanently in Ukraine’s favor.

The Russians know this, and that’s why they are willing to commit 200k souls to becoming cannon meat, unsupported, ill-equipped and poorly lead.

I’ll put my money on the ones fighting for their future.

That’s most certainly the drunken criminal rabble masquerading as an “army.”

Little Putin's war of aggression using Ukrainian territory as a chess board to expand Moscow's sway over East Europe

Sorry, I can't catch the idea, what exactly US forget in East Europe?

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

All Russia has to do is to end its invasion of Ukraine, turn Putin over to the Hague to stand trial for his crimes against humanity, apologize for its criminal behavior and promise to behave much better in the future. That's all!

People have gotten so used to NATO decimating whomever the ruling regimes designate 'bad' (While NATO backs the most reactionary forces wherever they exist or can be raised), people just thought the same would be true of Russia. Big mistake! Though not sure why anyone except the richest 2~5% would back NATO. Maybe there are just a lot of psycho's.

This long-term war will be won by Russia, it has much more endurance than Ukraine..

Tanks will not save Ukraine..

Negotiate with Russia before tanks burn..

"It comes to the point that the mothers and wives of Ukrainian soldiers in their appeals to the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia ask to leave their men on the territory of Russia so that they are not driven to fight again." said the first deputy permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky. It's on the "Ukraine prevails"

The Kremlin says Western supplies of arms only widen and extend the conflict.

Even an illiterate housewife understands that in order to defeat Russia, it is necessary to send ten times more tanks, a lot of fuel for them, and hundreds of thousands of heads of cannon fodder...Without all this, your wet dreams of victory over great Russia are an unfounded illusion
