Ukraine has shown the ability to hold Russian targets far to its rear at risk. This promise should not be taken lightly.

It's time for lying Putin's miserable invaders to return home to their orc stronghold. Go back to Russia.!

3 ( +13 / -10 )

The Russians are not shelling the nuclear facility. They control it and the area around it. However, the Russians should not be firing from this area if they are. Rather nice of the Russians to keep the power on. They now control 65% of Ukraine's power generation.

This is going into the absurd!

Anyone believing Ukraine on this needs a lesson in logical thinking

Remember the only thing blocking the IAEA from inspecting the nuclear plant is Ukraine.

And please keep the silly "if Russia leave then no problem" comments.

Russia isn't leaving and being pig headed like Ukraine and refusing inspection is a clear sign it doesn't care about safety only that it wins back control,

So logic if Ukraine is willing to keep out the IAEA to do a safety check and Russia is willing to let them in , which side is irresponsible enough to shell the place.

Who gains from shelling the plant?

Russia gains nothing but Ukraine gains because people are so illogical they believe in the sound of hooves is a unicorn and not a horse.

Again more feelings over facts.

Yeah sure, since Ukraine announced its offensive they have lost more territory.

Got look it up.

We get these constant Ukrainian bravado articles, then we got to the interactive BBC News map that shows the movement of the control line and everyday Russia has slightly more territory.

Ukraine announced it great offensive, since then Russia has taken more territory.

But all the news goes nuts about possibly destroying 9 airplanes .

So even if true that Russia lost 9 airplanes, in that same week Ukraine lost control of several hundred more square kilometers of territory at least 3 cities according to western news, etc...

Ukraine's threat is going to be used to hit the plant and claim Russia did it.

Ukraine needs NATO troops in the fight and it has failed in every attempt to get NATO involved directly.

Ukraine's last hope is to create a possible nuclear disater scenario as a hail Mary play to get NATO involved.

Where is your proof that Ukraine is shelling the plant? It is not so absurd to believe that Russia is trying to frame Ukraine for this, considering all the other lies they've told.

So let's see, Russia bombed it's on cities with cluster bombed (petal/butterfly bombs).

Russia bombed it own, POW camp.

Then bonded 3 times is own controlled nuclear power plant.

And all that to "frame" Ukraine.

Now let's see the first didn't work, the second didn't work and the last 3 didn't work.

But Russia continues to bomb it's own troops and people still trying to blame Ukraine.

Now the other choice.

Ukraine bombed the pro Russian cities in Russia controlled areas with cluster bombs, blamed Russia the west accepted Ukraine's claim,

Ukraine bombed the POW camp claimed it was Russia "covering up stuff" the west believed Ukraine.

Ukraine bombs the nuclear plant and the west believes Ukraine, so it does it again and again.

So who has gained from these, Russia hasn't but Ukraine sure has.

So on one hand we are to believe Russia keeps firing on itself in multiple failed attempts to blame Ukraine.

On the other hand we are told not to believe Ukrainian fired on these places which are in enemy territory.

Again if you hear the sound of hooves do you think unicorn or horse?

> Who gains from shelling the plant?

> The only party that gains is Russia.

Ok now please give a logical explanation as to how Russia gains?

Up to now 3 times the plant has been hit and not once has the west, western news or western governments blamed Ukraine.

So give a logical explanation how Russia gains.

If you make a claim be ready to back it up logically.

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

Russia gains territory by shelling it so much every living thing has to leave or die. I'm not so sure they will actually be able to hold on to it long term though.

If you make a claim be ready to back it up logically.

By shelling around the nuclear power plant, Russian officials are framing Ukraine as irresponsibly using Western-provided weapons and risking nuclear disaster to dissuade Western and other allied states from providing additional military support to Ukraine’s looming southern counteroffensive.

Occam's Razor states that other things being equal, simpler explanations are generally better than more complex ones. This is the simplest explanation.

The Russians are not shelling the nuclear facility. They control it and the area around it. However, the Russians should not be firing from this area

That is exactly what they are doing.

The Russians have lost the initiative and are unlikely to regain it. So this is compeltely within thier doctrine. They are escalating to de-escalate. In other words, do something so bat-feces crazy that it brings the other side to the table.

The Russians know that with 10 meter thick containment walls, their shells are unlikely to breach the reactors. They are trying to scare people (It's working. Congrats Vlad) into giving in (That's NOT working. Condolences, Vlad). But they don't care if little things like storage ponds or control buildings get blown to hell.

The sooner the Russian fan-bois realize that Putie is a sociopath plaing a losing hand badly, the clearer thier world-view will become.

The sooner the West realizes that this isn't only a Ukraine thing - that we can (as Dessert pointed out) can stand here with Ukraine, or we can fight in the Baltics - the easier it will be to get our heads around what must be done.

And the sooner the Chamberlin-wing remembers what happens when you placate a Fascist, the sooner they will realize that negotion with a sociopath is a fool's errand unless one has a very strong hand.

The Russian troops are holding the nuclear plant workers at gunpoint. They need to withdraw from the plant.

Ok now use logic, according to Ukraine, Russia has bombed it's own cities with cluster bombs to frame Ukraine and that didn't work, so then again to frame Ukraine Russia bombed the POW camp, that didn't work and according to Ukraine to frame Ukraine Russia has bombed 3 times the nuclear power plant and the first second and third time it didn't work.

Now I know people think Russia is stupid but if after 3 times (cluster bombs, POW camp and first nuclear plant bombing) it didn't work, why keep trying.

But if Ukraine did it and everyone believes Ukraine then it is in its interests to keep doing it.

Which makes more logical sense?

Occam's Razor states that other things being equal, simpler explanations are generally better than more complex ones. This is the simplest explanation

Nice you just made my point.

Simplest explanation,

Who would bomb a Russian position Ukraine or Russia!?

You want use to believe the complicated explanation, Russia bombs it's own places to maybe get Ukraine in trouble.

Instead of the more simple Ukraine bombs Russian positions.

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

And by eliminating those Russians responsible, the Russian army IQ will actually go up. The Russians should thank Ukraine for their efforts.

So you and the rest want people to believe that Russia is taking more territory, (according to all western governments) but somehow has lost so bombs it own facilities to get sympathy?

I haven't heard a single logical point or explanation from you,

I have heard a lot of your feelings but not facts.

Yes we know Putin is nuts, but that doesn't change the Facts Ukraine is losing more and more territory everyday and fantasy of "Wonder" weapons changing things isn't reality.

You like to repeat stuff from WW2 we'll try also looking at reality, AH kept going on and new Wonder weapons going to turn the tide of the war, Ukraine sounds just like that.

Look at facts not feelings.

At this point who is right isn't the point it is who and how many more, will dies and Ukraine is playing a very dangerous game of Russian roulette.

You forget that it is in Ukraine and the overriding concern is nuclear fallout in your own country!!

If it was in Russia, I would agree with you. But it’s in Ukraine. So simplest explanation is Russia is doing the shelling.

IAEA Seeks Immediate Access to Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

Simple question, simple answer.

Which side has and is refusing IAEA permission?

Note: The IAEA position it to remain neutral so requires both sides give permission only one has refused.

Of the many Zelenskiy tales that test the limits of readers' credulity (but apparently not that of journalists), this one jumps the shark.

Again your own Occam's razor point applies, you want use to believe the most complicated version.

And then again, if Ukraine is so sure it is Russia and is so worried, why is Ukraine refusing to give IAEA permission to inspect the facility?

Since June, the IAEA has requested permission, Russia has agreed, Ukraine has refused, IAEA neutrality requires both sides give the ok only Ukraine has refused.

So obviously Ukraine either isn't worried or doesn't care about the safety.

July 20 2022

The IAEA has not been able to visit the Russian-occupied facility in Ukraine's south since before the conflict began five months ago. It is therefore not in a position to confirm or deny the reports about the country's largest nuclear power plant (NPP), with six reactors.

Director General Grossi has repeatedly stressed that the IAEA must be able to send a mission to the Zaporizhzya NPP to conduct essential safety, security and safeguards activities at the facility.

https://www.iaea.org/newscenter/pressreleases/update-87-iaea-director-general-statement-on-situation-in-ukraine

Aug 11 2022

In a session to discuss the situation at the plant, which has been occupied by Russia since March, Mr Grossi reiterated his call for all military action to stop at the site, which came under shelling on 5 and 6 August.

“I ask that both sides of this armed conflict cooperate with the IAEA and allow for a mission to the Zaporizhzya Nuclear Power Plant as soon as possible. Time is of the essence.”

The IAEA has received contradictory information from Ukraine and Russia about the status of the facility, its operation and the damage it sustained

They are not:

The IAEA chief said he and his team need protection to get to the plant and the urgent cooperation of Russia and Ukraine.

Each side wants this international mission to go from different sites, which is understandable in light of territorial integrity and political considerations, he said, but there’s something more urgent and that is getting the IAEA team to Zaporizhzhya.

While climate change deniers and the proponents of predatory capitalism (so called 'free market' and or state forms) cheer on their overlords controlling power generation.. And do what they can to slow any progress away from fossil capitalism.

Why bother? Do you really think that after incessant bombardments of cities, mass using of anti-personnel mines in densely populated areas and firing HIMARS missiles at its own POWs the regime requires any additional "framing"? It shows its true colors perfectly well by itself.

@Nemo

The Russians have lost the initiative and are unlikely to regain it

Ukroorcs are unable to launch any sizeable counteroffensive, they just sit in cities and towns under protection of human shields, meanwhile the Russians are calmly taking one fortified area after another. Severodonetsk, Lisichansk, two days ago they took Peski. Heavily fortified Bakhmut and Soledar will follow in week or two. You call it "lost initiative"?

I see St. Petersburg got it's talking points to you in a more timely manner today.

Of course war (that being the actual name for "Special Military Operations") will have it's ebbs and flows, but....

The "mighty" red army (feels like that one should be in quotations as well) is spent as a fighting force.

When you are giving murderers and drug dealers clemency in exchange for serving as cannon fodder, er...."fresh troops", you are losing. Period. Full stop.

You didn't happen to see that bit where your airfield blew up about 150 milles behind the lines, did you?

1/2 the invasion force dead or wounded. Garbage equipment and artilary tubes doing the peeled banana thing. Troops shooting themselves to go home. Depending on the Wagner Brigades for infantry (because that worked out so well for them in Syria, eh?)

Yeah, The Russians are rolling so hard they might be in Odessa by the middle of the next decade. Or not (Hint: it's "not").

The Ruskies are using barbaric thermobaric bombs.

Well, I can reply with something like "your Langley superiors did not train you to argue without resorting to petty personal attacks?", but I wouldn't. I prefer to argue with facts an logic.

The "mighty" red army (feels like that one should be in quotations as well) is spent as a fighting force

Yawn. I hear it almost daily since March. Then why the Russians are taking fortified areas one after one?

When you are giving murderers and drug dealers clemency in exchange for serving as cannon fodder, er...."fresh troops", you are losing. Period. Full stop

Correct. It seems you are well aware of the situation in the Ukroforces and acute problems they face with mobilization. About murderers - check Ukrainian social media what they write about the "Tornado" battalion, manned by ex-convicts, and its CO called Abelmaz, who had several jail terms for rapes.

You didn't happen to see that bit where your airfield blew up about 150 milles behind the lines, did you?

One airfield. And what happened to ALL airfields of the Ukro Air Force across all of Ukraine? You didn't happen to see, did you?

1/2 the invasion force dead or wounded

Where did I heard something like that? Oh, yes, in German propaganda newsreels in 1945. Remember how it all ended?

The Russians are rolling so hard they might be in Odessa by the middle of the next decade. Or not (Hint: it's "not")

You are for a major disappontment. Hint: by the end of this year.

When it is true and accurate, it's called "information." I know that this part is lost on you. (But do try to keep up.)

Also, just FYI This thread is not about "Trump TOTALLY NOT having SCI level intel in his club."

Troops shooting themselves to go home.

This poster is probably inexperienced in history as this happens in EVERY war since wars began.

expect a lot of low bar propaganda on here.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

So hows your obese Russian general? oh wait that was propaganda too.

Since you still believe that a different chubby guy had an election stolen from him you are hardly in a position to lecture anyone about propaganda. You lap up propaganda.

You probably thought that people wouldn't mention this about you.
