*flew to Tonga...*** *tell us all to do something about the global clmate thingy..... not that I'm by any means a denier, but if our 'leaders' and the 'highest in the land' don't set a good example to we the hoi polloi, then it's just waffle. jet-setting 5-star waffle at that. sheesh! they're all either blinkered idiots, or absolute charlatans, my* view.

Guterres and his ilk are hypocrites of the highest order, but I suppose he just had to fly to Tonga so he could pull out his little gold-plated tape measure and check the sea level rise with his own little eyes. It's the only way to be sure.

So, if the people with more money and power to shield them against the worst consequences of climate change act irresponsibly you think the whole thing is nothing to worry about? That is like thinking smoking is not dangerous to your health just because you can see one doctor doing it.

Pretty much the only way to get to Tonga is by flying there.

Tonga does have the internet, so there's nothing he couldn't have achieved just by doing an online conference.
But it's just more of rules for thee, not for me.

Yeah, that would have got the headlines.
Well no. Whenever I go to Tonga, I fly there.
And what are these rules you talk of...?

Are they still not used to it, with all those big sea level differences caused by the tides, ebb and flow, occurring every day, about every six hours, and for already an eternity, when there still weren't any humans? I don't understand those complaints, because if average levels rise then they are still lower than flow levels at maximum. And if then also should raise the maximum levels by a few millimeters or centimeters, then this is or would be a very slow process and can be easily countered with the related construction measures.

All the signs are there, all the warnings made. But too many people just nod along numbly with a 'crap happens/cop-out' attitude.
