The oil is in Kurdistan so Iraq won't allow it. USA has troops embedded with both Kurds and Iraqis. That would put USA soldiers fighting each other. Very interesting.

UN or any country has no business to tell Kurdish peoples what to do or not to do. These peoples have been oppressive and discriminated by generations in their home land. The UN had failed to protect them and they were gassed by late dictator Saddam Hussein. They were not illegal immigrant from other countries. I believe they should have referendum for whether they want to stay with Iraq or independent. Kurdish peoples know what is best for them.

If the Kurds are successful in Iraq, y'know they gonna do a referendum too in Syria
