No, no, no. The United States are the centre of the universe. Everyone loves them.

The UN needs to issue orders for all countries to stop the supply of weapons to Israel only then will the genocide stop!

What can we spect??.

Good old US, as always..

-4 ( +7 / -11 )

Everyone loves them.

In a meeting with Arab-American leaders this week Tony Blinken told them that if Palestine became a state, federal US law would mandate the US defunding of the UN, which would then be forced to cut the World Food Programme and others, resulting in mass global starvation.

Blinken literally threatened to starve the world if Palestinians got their own state. This is blackmail. The US is a terrorist, genocidal rogue state.

While this is true, I bet it is mostly electioneering and little will be done to the ICJ.

Sounds like an excellent opportunity for others to step up.

The US itself is sacrificing the "rules based order" to protect Israel. This will have far reaching consequences in the future.

But they can provide billions for weapons?

Hamas just reported that it has taken more hostages, the body of an IDF soldier was shown being dragged in a tunnel in north Gaza by Hamas fighters.

Alfie, I remember seeing that on youtube and thinking it was clickbait. Then I clicked on the video and my jaw dropped.

The rest of the world needs to start sanctioning Israel!

The rest of us plebs can start by starting sanctions at home! Obviously most politicians are terrified of a serious negative AIPAC or ,whatever the Israel support group is in their country, campaign against them. If they can lobby Govts then people of good conscience can do the same! Write to politicians demanding an end to ties with Israel until they end the slaughter Gaza! Only when politicians are more afraid of their own constituents than AIPAC will they act against Israel!

Sanjinosebleed- excellent posts!!

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

Yesterdays discussion got bogged down on whether the Oct.7 attack by Hamas constituted a "surprise attack " with lots of legal argument from posters on if the opposing sides were "nation states " and subject to International Law ".

I think we can exclude legal arguments and ponder what would be a "surprise " in the context of Israel/Gaza relations.

1/ The fence/wall/structure along the border.

Was it

a/ To keep the rabbits out

or

b/ To act as a barrier to Gazans' entering Israel.

2/ The multiplicity of camera systems along the fence.

Were they

a/ An Israeli version of "The Truman Show "

or b/ An attempt to use technology to surveil the Gazan population ?

3/ The various air borne drones/helicopters/satellite/plane imagery of Gaza

Were they

a/ Because Israelis' love technology or

b/ another element of the package of measures to keep watch on Gaza ?

If you answered "a" to any of these crucial questions, then yes, the Hamas attack WAS a surprise attack.

If you tend towards "b" then , you mind is turned toward seeing the various apparatus as a dystopian and Orwellian response by Israel of a perceived {actual } threat of imminent attack by an occupied people kept under duress.

And thus...NOT A SURPRISE.

In the words of Norman Finkelstein "you cant keep millions of people under such condition and then be surprised when something like this {OCT 7} happens."

The UN court is a JOKE,

Israel has been killing Palestinians since it's Inception and this Extermination in Gaza is NO DIFFERENT, so why now? this "Court Order" is nothing but another SHOW so the world can now sit back and watch Israel carry on with it's murders.

The UNSC can stop this war today if it really wanted.

Isn't that extraordinary, wow.

It's actually amazing that the US has actually been able to convince so many people that they are 'the World's policemen', or the 'good guys', and that people who oppose them are 'terrorists'. What's more extraordinary, is that so many sheep who are unable to think critically for themselves have swallowed that narrative hook, line and sinker for so long. I know people who sincerely believe it, I work with some.

For the rest of us, the opposite has been evident for a long time. I travelled through the Middle East in the late 90s - Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel. All of my Western media driven narratives and perspectives dissolved real quick in that couple of months, I can tell you.

When will the Biden administration "Sanctioning" the ICC? If he mean business to support Israel, sanctions the ICC is a must done!

For China and Russia, America 's isolation and unpopularity is your gain.So keep up the rhetoric to push the West in a corner and receiving support from most countries around the world !

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Unfortunate as Biden is trapped- needing those pro Hamas voters to keep his job.

what to do?

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

The decision Friday by the International Court of Justice in The Hague adds to the pressure facing an increasingly isolated Israel,

Israel feels no pressure from a court with no jurisdiction and an antisemitic slant.

At least 35,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to the Health Ministry, which doesn’t distinguish between combatants and civilians.

Wholly fabricated numbers but regardless the number of terrorists eliminated makes up the majority.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers have reportedly accused the court of 'abuse of power ' and threatening US interests." D.C. genocide enablers.

No, they just aren't running around screaming "genocide" when the only democracy in the Middle East is defending itself against an actual antisemite genocidal terrorist group.

the only democracy in the Middle East

Ooh, democracy. They must be the good guys then. How puffed up with self-righteousness you must feel. Just a moment - Germany in 1933 was a democracy too.

No, they just aren't running around screaming "genocide"...

Of course not. Far better for their bank balances and re-election prospects if they turn a blind eye and keep quiet.

Love how Israel, despite what every major humanitarian organization, both of the UN courts, and now even America's youth are saying is not labeled a rogue regime or pariah state, while those terms are often bandied around when the newest BRICS member is in the news.

PS, the normal regime tactic of convicting one or two members of its militants of something minor to show 'it holds those militants to account for even the smallest war crimes' isn't going to fly with those UN courts, or America's youth. Indeed the only people it worked on are being retired from office by time and their own fears of being out of time at an ever increasing rate

Just a moment - Germany in 1933 was a democracy too.

Until it became a dictatorship in January that year.

Far better for their bank balances and re-election prospects if they turn a blind eye and keep quiet.

Turn a blind eye to aa peace-loving, democratic country, which allows Arabs to peacefully coexist with Jews, and in which those Arabs choose to live rather than non-democratic surrounding countries like Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Yemen?

Even with a U.S. pier starting to bring in a small amount of aid by sea, Gaza has received only a fraction of the amount of supplies needed since the start of the Israeli offensive.

Because of corruption in UNWRA, and the terrorists stealing food from the occupiers in Gaza.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

That US pier? Lol

https://www.npr.org/2024/05/25/nx-s1-4981449/u-s-army-vessels-beached-israel-gaza

typical Biden Administration incompetence. 350 million dollars just floated away.

Both US and Israel are criminal states. They have destroyed their own legitimacy to be a state.

You going to get fewer than 141 countries condemning your next war?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The erroneous US position brought to you by Zionist lobbyists and utterly misguided evangelical Zionist Christians who don't know their own Bible.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Each day this go on more and more nations will associate Palestinians and larger arabs and Muslims community with Hamas. You can't have it both ways if you can't deconflate Hamas from the rest. The middle east will be a hell hole for decades to come because it can't define the distinction between terrorists and national defense.

"Just a moment - Germany in 1933 was a democracy too."

Until it became a dictatorship in January that year.

A dictatorship imposed by the democratically elected government. The German public didn't seem to mind either, did they. Just as I'm sure you will applaud anything "Bibi" chooses to do no matter how immoral or illegal it might be.

"Far better for their bank balances and re-election prospects if they turn a blind eye and keep quiet."

Turn a blind eye to aa peace-loving,

You lost me at "peace-loving."

The Israelis weee true friend of the Chinese and the Russians. Both never achieved isolating America in normal days. But after 7th October everything has changed. The more destruction of the Gaza and the miserable of Palestinians exposed to tge world are the ammunition for China and Russia condemnation of U.S. Because the whole world knows America is enabling this dirty war.Even Americans were frustrated with Biden of complicity of war crimes, they feel ashamed of being Americans!

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

@TaiwanisChina:You going to get fewer than 141 countries condemning your next war?

More than 100 countries will applauding China and hervwar with Taiwan. As long as America's image is tarnished, many countries choose to support China. They just angry with U.S. !

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Oh America, you will be on the wrong side of this in the history books, if there will be any because this stance will lose the November election for Biden, ushering in the worst of all possible scenarios.
