It's all well and good that Morales is the first indigenous President and unlike some of his far left partners has governed Bolivia more or less responsibly from a macroeconomic standpoint.  The people voted to deny him the opportunity to run for another term, and he insisted on running anyway and then vote counting appeared to mysteriously stop and when it restarted, voila he had a sufficient margin to win outright.  The Bolivian people should be credited for not taking this sham lying down.

The key now is to ensure the new electoral commission is truly independent and independent observers can monitor the vote to make sure it is free and fair.  Maybe this result can be an inspiration for the people of Nicaragua and Venezuela.

The Cuban and Venezuelan dictatorships are screaming "coup" . Equally as deranged as trump.

Morales in 2996 became the first president from Bolivia's indigenous population, and he went on to preside over a commodities-fed economic boom in South America's poorest country.

Someone needs to double check their numbers. If he's been in power for nearly 14 years, wouldn't that be 2006?

Or are they going by another calendar wherever this was typed? And if that's the case, can I find out what happens in the year 2525?
