Dimitry Medvedev last night Japan time: (the translation obviously isn't perfect)

NATO Secretary General stated that Ukraine will win as a sovereign independent state. But he said nothing about its territorial integrity.

Type will win, but, apparently, in the new, greatly curtailed boundaries of its independence, and all such a sovereign will sit down at the negotiating table. This is already progress.

And the constant regression is that the arrogant NATO upstarts always easily forget about the coups d'etat committed by their organization in sovereign countries around the world, the deposed legitimately elected heads of state and the murdered tens of thousands of civilians - the elderly, women, children. About the supply of weapons to every rabble, zoological geeks and extremist regimes. On the impunity of the leaders of the North Atlantic Alliance for the atrocities committed.

After all, since the moment of its formation, NATO has repeatedly proved its purely closed corporate essence, acting in the interests of a handful of Anglo-Saxon countries and their henchmen. At the same time, no more than 12 percent of the world's population lives in NATO countries.

The civilized world does not need this organization. It must repent before humanity and be dissolved as a criminal entity.

But even Pontifex Maximus will not be able to absolve them of their sins

So you offered us an imperfect translation of the ramblings of a mini-me minion?

Cheers…

Rodney,

so you agree that they are "Russian speaking Ukrainians"!

Good, now that's a first step in the right direction!

One thing, however: they are not escaping to Russia, but being deported, abducted!

And the violence - now that's what Russia is so good at, do you remember?

Killing, raping is written on their flags! But:

Ukraine will prevail!

Bronco,

maybe first time that I fully agree with you!

The shelves in Ukraine are completely stocked. Enough food for all.

Yes, Zelenskyj should aprroach and sit at the negotiating table with Putin.

A peace agreement undeer Ukraine's conditions.

Russian troops will go back to Russia, Crimea, Luhansk and all other areas will be returned to Ukraine, reparations will be paid by Russia, those Russians responsible for the aggression will be held responsible at an international court, Ukraine will become asap a member of NATO and the EU, .... did I forget anything?

Ukraine will prevail!

Yes, so Russia can invade Ukraine again better prepared next year, under some new pretext... Good plan

Zelensky needs to do the right thing and approach the negotiating table.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was to announce substantial U.S. aid for Ukraine’s energy grid, U.S. officials said. Targeted Russian strikes have battered Ukraine’s power, water and heating infrastructure since Oct. 10 in what Western officials have described as a Russian attempt to weaponize the coming winter cold.

The US is showing real leadership here. Hopefully other nations will follow suit and give Ukraine infrastructure aid.

Yrral

Only the US is showing that they are gullible,no amount of money, will extract them from their miserable condition, but them, the European think because their economy is floundering, they do not have too contribute equally

I expect we will see contributions from Europe in the coming days.

So you offered us an imperfect translation of the ramblings of a mini-me minion?

I took it as a mocking post aimed at showing the demented mindset of the russians unwilling or unable to see that they are doubly guilty of everything they accuse the west of - arrogant NATO upstarts! deposed legitimately elected heads of state! murdered civilians. elderly, women, children! It must be dissolved as a criminal entity! cannot absolve them of their sins!

Then I saw who posted it and realised s/he thinks it's .....a legitimate complaint? ....an excuse for levelling a country?.....justification for war crimes?

Some people are really scary.

7 ( +14 / -7 )

Putin and Russia are responsible for more than 50,000 war crimes.

7 ( +14 / -7 )

The Kremlin reaffirmed Tuesday that negotiations would be possible if Ukraine meets Russian demands.

Ukraine should only be agreeing to negotiations if Russia agrees to return Crimea.

Otherwise, Ukraine is going to have to take it back by force, making Russia look even worse.

6 ( +15 / -9 )

Zelensky needs to do the right thing and approach the negotiating table.

No, Putin - the person who launched an unprovoked invasion of his neighbor and is now attacking its civilians because his crap army is losing - needs to do the right thing and just leave Ukraine alone.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

Bronco

The Kremlin reaffirmed Tuesday that negotiations would be possible if Ukraine meets Russian demands.

This is not negotiation. It’s your neighbor saying “do everything I say and give me what I want” and I’ll think about not raping, and killing your civilians, destroying your country, and stealing the land we want for now, but we might be back again later to do it again.

Who would capitulate to a “negotiation” like that??

5 ( +12 / -7 )

It is hard to translate ramblings. There's a stark difference between NATO and Russia in that NATO is not illegally annexing territory and trying to enshrine it in a sham constitution.

Let's not also forget that Russia's pretext behind trying to expand their borders towards NATO, was that NATO wanted to expand their borders towards Russia.

Sort of like when the Americans argued that Iraq had to be invaded before they could use their WMDs...

I just thought that well balanced journalism may still exist...but not here?

Nope only in Russia and on RT!;)

Eastman - Bakhmut is still in Ukrainian hands. Are you suggesting that Russia is going to take it soon?

If you knew the history of Russia and Ukraine., you would kmow that Crimea belonged to Russia since the 1700's and was leased out to Ukraine in a good will gesture.

Not leased out. Given to Ukraine because it made sense, it has no connection to Russia. And the people of Crimea, the Tartars, have been treated terribly by the Russians.

That all changed after Ukraine kept attacking the Donbass regions which resulted in the deaths of more than 14,000 citizens.

Not true. Russia sent troops in and started the fighting in the Dombas. Also, only 3,000 Ukrainian civilians on both sides. Most in the first year and a half.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Of course it will come eventually. But peace has to come through trust. Russia has not shown any reason they deserve to be trusted. The Kremlin lied right up to the invasion and continue to lie, including to their own people.

Another point is that they have never officially stated what their objective in the war is, besides "denazification" (obviously a lie, and even an open one after they started releasing the so-called neo-nazis in POW exchanges), so what is there for them to negotiate?

Let me say that I believe that one day PEACE WILL PREVAIL and common sense will prevail as well

If you think Ukraine is retaking Crimea, or the other areas that Russia started occupying back in 2014, you are not living in reality.

It's not unreasonable militarily. If Ukrainian troops take the North of Crimea and attack the Kerch bridge again. They will starve Crimea of supplies.

Quite frankly, I'm not supporting any Western leaders that aren't going to nudge Ukraine in the direction of accepting a deal, even if it includes some compromises on their end.

Quite frankly, I think Ukraine should make it's own decisions. I find it patronising that other countries would consider to interfere with a sovereign nation's decisions.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The prospect of peace remained remote. The Kremlin reaffirmed Tuesday that negotiations would be possible if Ukraine meets Russian demands

The Russians refuse to meet Ukraine demands.

Russia has demanded that Ukraine recognize Crimea as part of Russia and acknowledge other Russian gains. It also has repeated its earlier demands for “demilitarization” and “denazification,” albeit with less vigor than in the past.

Ukraine territory will remain Ukraine territory. Including Crimea and the entire Donbas. That is non negotiable. There are far less Nazi's in Ukraine than in Russia itself, so Russia's demand of denazification is ridiculous. As for demilitarization, well they have armed up because of the Russian invasion and they will not alter even once Russia is pushed out of Ukraine. Not one of Russia's "demands" is sensible or achievable.

Ukraine wants Russia to withdraw from Crimea and all other annexed territory, to face prosecution for war crimes, to pay for rebuilding Ukraine and to meet other demands.

As the victim of Russia's invasion, all of Ukraine's stated demands are rational and reasonable.

Uneasy calm grips Ukraine as West prepares winter aid @JapanToday:

Why does the image show a Ukrainian flag at half-mast? Is that a mourning sign?

With some 9 million refugees in other countries, few millions in Russian occupied territory, the population has dropped to ~30 million, with a sizeable number displaced within the country itself..

Quite frankly, I'm not supporting any Western leaders that aren't going to nudge Ukraine in the direction of accepting a deal, even if it includes some compromises on their end. Because that's how the world works. Especially when the country you're staring down is twenty times the size, three times the population, and also has nukes.

This war, along with the original 2020 Covid lockdowns, runaway vaccine spending, and China's continuing lockdowns, have caused unreversible damage to the global economy. We are looking at a global food and energy crisis, possibly even famine if we cannot fix the global supply chains. To increase that risk so we can keep the war going in the hopes that Ukraine recovers 100% of it's territory is insanity.

Ukraine is the victim and Russia is the agressor, that cannot be refuted. We also can't hinge all of global civilization on Ukraine in the fight against its toxic neighbor. 無理。

Eastman,

If yes let me give you a few facts.

Most people here are not interested in facts or true history. They just hate Russia and if you ask people why, you get-- Russians are evil, Putin was in the KGB. etc.

Which country has higher morals than the West, who is self sufficient for food, gas, fuel, minerals, wheat, fertilizer etc.

While the west and Europe are imploding within from their hate of Russia , Russian citizens live in comfort with no empty food shelves and have p;enty of gas and fuel to keep warm.

That all changed after Ukraine kept attacking the Donbass regions which resulted in the deaths of more than 14,000 citizens. The Russians in Crimea were also under threat and that is when Putin took it back peacefully.

Also, in past history, Ukraine was always a part of Russia. Who do you think built all the power stations and industrial areas in Ukraine ?

Zelensky has already said he won't negotiate unless Russia gets completely out of Ukraine and that Ukraine will fight till the Last Ukrainian. Well, looks like he is getting his wish with the help of the USA and Nato.

When the USA attacked Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, did you people complain or care for the destruction and deaths under false claims from the West ?

To ease the hardships and ensure Ukraine’s 43 million people can maintain their resolve

actually, the millions Russian speaking Ukrainians (25% of Ukrainian population) are escaping or moving deeper into Russia to stop the UA violence, and estimated 8 million western Ukrainians are enjoying free housing, heating, benefits, travel, healthcare, food and work visas in EU, UK etc, even Japan. Many are not asylum seekers because they frequently travel back and forward, paid for of course.

so my point, not 43 million are suffering. Of course the country is a mess, people are suffering, but some/many are actually better off.
