When I was stationed at military bases in California, we had forest fires. It's a given. I attended a show in Monterey featuring the late Stevie Ray Vaughn (RIP) and Huey Lewis and the News (double billing, full set each) and it was cut short due to a forest fire. We had to run for it, and some of us had to board a Greyhound bus. it was crazy.

I have always wanted to visit the Sierra Nevada mountain range and the Lake Tahoe area. It is a beautiful area on the planet. I hope they can contain this fire with little damage and no lives lost.

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful regions in North America. I've visited it when it was snowy and during other seasons. There's plenty to see and do there, besides gambling. Some people get married and honeymoon there. The hunka-hunka actor Tom Selleck got married there exactly one week after I spent a three day weekend there. He and his bride have been together ever since. If it's good enough for Magnum PI, it's good enough for anybody.
