She really doesn't want to do this, bit she has to because her inheritance depends on it.
theeastisred
She is out of her depth in the shallowest of puddles. Send her back to whatever pretend business she was playing at before.

Why was Donny's crush and her husband, the Kush, on this trip?

Much rather look
at fresh faced Ivanka than that desiccated prune LaGarde!
ulysses
Even the loony nutter messiah , Steve Bannon, called her 'Dumb as a Brick'.
rainyday
That photo of her preening while every major world leader looks on in annoyance is such an apt metaphor.
bass4funk
That’s because he was replaced by her. Look, I love Bannon, but to say that he didn’t feel jaded for being pushed out would be an understatement, so yeah, he’s got a personal axe to grind with her.
Jimizo
The one where she’s at The Last Supper is a good one.
theeastisred
That's not what 'jaded' means.
Ganbare Beikoku!

Replaced him in doing what? What is Ivanka qualified to do?

Yael (Ivanka) and Jared Kushner only represent the family business and Israel, not the American people. Time to drain the swamp...
Strangerland
Kiss Trump's ass.
Bugle Boy of Company B
It's a very good point, but one must also consider the source of the comment.
Strangerland
Yes, people should recognize that this comment comes from a duly elected American senator, chosen by the American people to represent their interests.

What a joke....
So many appointees are completely unqualified for their job!!
Ben Rhodes was a speechwriter for Obama's campaign before becoming a Senior Advisor....
And then there was Tommy Vietor... who was some sort of "serious" NSC spokesperson after being nothing more than a 2008 campaign lackey!!!
He who is without sin cast the first stone!!

Melania Trump says she Is 'the Most Bullied Person in the World'

Waiting for Ivanka, especially now one of her handlers is daddy's press secretary, to come up with another superlative laden whine. And to be joined by Jared, Don Jr and the other family wimps getting richer while Trump's in the White House.
Upper class (putative) snobs, spoiled class bullies trying to get sympathy. How can anyone who's had to work hard just to make ends meet support this family.

Scientist Ivanka with Marie Curie is THE bomb!
Attilathehungry
Charming.
How nice to see lefties attacking a woman. Their principles apparently end where virtue signalling begins.
ulysses
Coming from the supporters of a man who has shown great respect to women!!
Hilarious.
PTownsend
Are you suggesting a woman should NOT be criticized because she's a woman? That only men can be criticized? If so, that sounds like 'virtue signaling', another term from those who use the alt right glossary.
rainyday
Not criticizing her for being a woman. Criticizing her father for appointing his kid to a senior position she is clearly unqualified for for no other reason than that she is his kid.
rainyday
Sorry, was Ben Rhodes Obama's daughter? Did Obama take him to G20 summits and then have him interject himself into conversations with world leaders that he had no business being involved in? Did Obama let Ben Rhodes crash the world leaders' group photo?

I don't think is true. I think she has political aspirations like her husband. They want to be a power couple. I believe one of them will try to run for office while the other one works in the background. Her reputation mostly fictional is less damaged than the rest of the family; however, her Dump world bubble hasn't prepared her for the realities of the political world she is trying to enter. Hence, we see the embarrassment she experienced in this article. It is what I call the Dump Effect!
The sons (Tweedle dee and Tweedle dumb ) are too crooked and entrenched in criminal activities to make daddy happy. The funny things is Dump Jr. has a better connections with Republicon voters than daddy.
nishikat
Yes just like when the righties attacking Hillary for pizza gate. Kids have to support Daddy or Daddy will write them out of his will and give everything to Stormy Daniels. Poor Ivanka. All shr wanted was to enjoy her quiet rich girl life (which is fine of course) and now she has to kiss Daddy's butt or lose her inheritance. God bless the Trump kids.
Silvafan
@Dango Bong
Yeah, but the people elected Cortez democratically. How did Ivanka get her position again? Wasn't it reported that neither Ivanka or her husband be given clearance.
Ivanka has been seen as a joke on the world stage like her father. LOL!
Sneezy
Luckily, I have never sinned, and as such am able to tell you that Ivanka Trump is less qualified for her position than either of these were for theirs. I hope this has been helpful.
Silvafan
Yeah, Trumpsters like to call him strong and say it like it is. Yet, reality shows that he always denying saying anything and whining that he being treated bad. He is the biggest crybaby in US presidential history!
Attilathehungry
For most political appointees, the word 'political' comes first. They get chosen through connections, patronage, and occasionally qualifications. Ivanka is a bright young woman, easy on the eyes, and happens to be trusted by the President. Seems par for the course.
wtfjapan
Much rather look at fresh faced Ivanka than that desiccated prune LaGarde!
actually Id rather a person who is qualified in their job other than someone pretending to be qualified and faking it. beauty will eventually fade experience & intelligence doesn't
Dango bong
can't wait to see your post after he gets reelected
Jimizo
Being elected to office is what counts.
Stop sneering at what people do or did for an honest living. Many on the right love to preach about getting a job and working for a living rather than taking handouts, and then go on to sneer at people for what job they do.
Serrano
Ivanka Trump got a ribbing back home on Monday
No doubt. The media hates her as much as her father.
Ivanka Trump's official capacity is advisor to the president and she is a constant presence in the White House.
Good.
One of the Trump family's loudest critics, Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, was scathing.
"It may be shocking to some, but being someone's daughter actually isn't a career qualification," she tweeted.
That clueless bartender doesn't have any room to talk when it comes to qualifications.
She was also right by her father when he went to the demilitarized zone separating South and North Korea for his dramatic, impromptu meeting with reclusive North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Trump's neocon/neolib advisors ( not Ivanka ): You can't just go waltzing into North Korea.
Trump: Hold my sparkling water.
wtfjapan
can't wait to see your post after he gets reelected
and if the women vote kick him out, can't wait for the internet to go into meltdown over conspiracy theories and the armed militia civil war is coming. LOL
rainyday
Yup, but two points:
1) This isn't a "political" appointee, its a "family" appointee. She wasn't appointed for her political connections, views, etc. She was appointed solely because she is his daughter. Its idiotic to pretend otherwise.
2) This isn't "par for the course" in terms of what she (and her husband) are actually doing. She is being given privileges and apparent authority in areas that far exceed the boundaries of what those in normal political appointees in the position she occupies would get. Advisors don't normally get to act as de facto top diplomats at meetings with other world leaders. She (and her husband) are clearly out of their depths and it is making the US look incredibly bad on the world stage. This isn't just Trump's private company where he can appoint unqualified family members to any position he wants because who cares, its his company. This is the United States government, he's supposed to actually lead it in the best interests of the country, not the best interests of his favorite kids.
wtfjapan
That clueless bartender doesn't have any room to talk when it comes to qualifications.
yet she was elected to office just like Trump, clueless is when you claim to be a master negotiator ,lose $billion and bankrupt 5 companies in the process. clueless is when you have more debt than what your assets are actually worth yet claim to be a stable genius billionare. At least Cortez started as a the bottom and worked her way upward. Lost easier to become successful when daddy leaves you $100s millions
Strangerland
Wait, Cortez is qualified to be a Senator by virtue of having passed the qualifications for being a senator - she was elected as such.
That's on top of having worked an honest job as a bartender to support herself.
You respect people who were given everything more than those who had to work for it?
Strangerland
The lefties are rightly criticized when they try to argue that women should be believed simply because they are women. Weird to see you righties throwing out the same logic your team rightly argues is wrong.
rainyday
Except that she isn't a senator. She is a member of the House of Representatives, not the Senate. Other than that though I agree.
gokai_wo_maneku
There used to be this thing called "nepotism". But in Ivanka's case, I'm hoping her role is to restrain Trump and keep him from ruining the world.
theFu
I thought Ivanka was "besties" with Paris Hilton, right?
The US anti-nepotism laws need to be fixed to prevent this crap.
nishikat
If you want to talk about qualifications that way then we should have elected Bill Gates since he did the opposite of driving his business into bankruptcy. Trump is not even worth a single billion and Gates is around 100B. Trump is driving the US into bankruptcy like his casino and his Trump University. Bill Gates would also build a very powerful cloud wall instead of Trump's worthless wall that can be defeated with ladders.
Strangerland
Sorry, Congressperson.
Serrano
That clueless bartender doesn't have any room to talk when it comes to qualifications.
yet she was elected to office
Incredible, isn't it! Well, a lot of New Yorkers are now having buyer's remorse, especially the ones who were screwed out of Amazon jobs because of her.
Many funny online photos #UnwantedIvanka
Gotta check it out ;)
Have fun. It's gonna be real fun when her father is re-elected in a landslide next year!
Sneezy
No she isn't.
This is irrelevant.
She's his daughter, and this is nepotism. A corrupt and inefficient way to conduct business or run a government. That's why it's anathema to decent societies across the world. But for President Babybrains and his circus of calamity, it's, oh, how would I put it...
Perfect!

The saga of the Trump Family continues - just like the Sopranos....
Ivanka and Jared both had so many disqualifiers for getting a security clearance, that Trump had to overrule everyone in DoD to get them one. That happens a lot with criminals...
This past week we had Ivanka, who has her clothing and shoe line made in Chinese sweat shop factories, sit in meetings at the G20 with Chinese President Xi. Unprecedented and absolutely disgraceful. Ivanka wants to "enpower women" - maybe she should start with the women and young children who make her shoes... And Dad - how come you allow your daughter to employ Chinese workers instead of US ones? Oh, that's right, you get your ties made in Chinese sweatshop factories too.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYoOPgeTMQc
Can't wait to see your first post after he's convicted.
Uh-huh - perhaps you missed this post above by a Trump supporter...
wtfjapan
Weird to see you righties throwing out the same logic your team rightly argues is wrong.
leftist : attack women that are clearly in jobs that they have no qualifications for, except that theyre related to the boss, actually if Ivanka was a man in the same situation Id say theyd attack him also.
rightist: attack women when they accuse men in power of rape, ignore them and let those men continue their lives / careers with no repercussions. Republicans clearly haven't learnt the power of the women's vote yet have they.
Strangerland
No one was screwed out of an Amazon job in NY, as they hadn't done any hiring.
And your claims of 'a lot of new yorkers having buyers remorse' isn't a comment born of factual information. Projection at best.
Serrano
Ivanka: "We are on the precipice of ushering in potentially a golden era for the Korean peninsula."
Exactly, exactly.
No one was screwed out of an Amazon job in NY, as they hadn't done any hiring.
They would have if it weren't for AOC.
Trump's worthless wall that can be defeated with ladders.
We still haven't seen your video of you scaling the wall with your ladder, nishikat. S'matter, can't get it done?
u_s__reamer
Unwanted blonde bimbo Ivanka's only qualification is being eye-candy, good enough for her lecherous progenitor, but that doesn't cut the mustard in the world of Realpolitik. She'll soon fade into fat and oblivion.
PTownsend
When Trump backers recognize there's no way they can defend their chosen one, they deflect and distract. That shows their support for him is waning. Once again, all they've got is a Python's Black Knight defense.
kurisupisu
So, it would be nice if some of the posters here could first, fact check their basis for commenting on the merits or demerits of Ivanka Trump.
Question is why is Ivanka Trump not qualified to be present at a political meeting, the G 20 meeting or similar?
Well, Ivanka Trump graduated with a degree in economics cum laude.
She is also worth approximately $300 million.
She has a plethora of business experience and also she has much experience in charity work raising millions of dollars for various causes .
By anyone’s reckoning, she is certainly qualified to be at the right hand side of her father!
Toasted Heretic
Ah, nepotism.
This is funny, genuinely funny unlike border patrol agents posting vile pics of migrants, and advocating violence against AOC.
Toasted Heretic
She's not been appointed to the Trump administration though. But glad to hear some people are against sexism. At least you're not calling women "bitches" etc.
Oh dear.
Strangerland
Well, if the perspective is 'at her father's side', she's definitely more competent than he is.
But unlike her father, she was not elected. So no, she's not qualified to be there.
Toasted Heretic
What's wrong with working in a pub? Why do right wing people sneer at people who do jobs you wouldn't?
Silvafan
The same can be said for the autoworkers, farmers, and coal miners that voted for Dump!
Sneezy
The right hate the working class, think working for a living is distasteful and want something for nothing.
rainyday
So in other words she meets the minimum qualification necessary to become an entry level Eikaiwa teacher?
Given to her by daddy. Not actually a qualification in itself.
So her previous work experience is just hob-knobbing with New York's social elites? That makes her awkward inability to break into the conversation at the post-summit cocktail party all the more alarming - this is supposed to be her best skill yet she is absolutely terrible at it!
Sure, she can be at his side. And do nothing else at all.
Toasted Heretic
Aye. It's not enough to sneer at unemployed or homeless people but that now extends to bar staff, teachers and conbeni workers.
They can't fathom why everyone who wasn't privileged or do the nepotism thing would be offended by their snobbery.
And they wonder why class war exists.
Paul McCool
When did the G20 become "Take Your Daughter To Work Day"?
lincolnman
A golden era for my shoe and clothing line as I can get even cheaper North Korean workers rather than the ones in higher paying Chinese sweatshops - the North Koreans work for free - slave labor.... Maybe Daddy can get his ties made there too.
Because she has numerous conflicts of interest - but we know that doesn't bother Trumpers...
So do lots of other people - doesn't mean they should attend G20 meetings and elbow their way to the front of the picture...
Wonder how much of that came from Daddy's Trump University scam...maybe Trump Atlantic City Resort and Casino too?
Good - continue that in the private sector.
By that you mean she is qualified to be part of the Trump's Kindergarten-level cabinet, I agree...
kurisupisu
The above comments seem to somewhat contradictory to say the least.
The point is (not perspective) that Ivanka Trump is an advisor to Donald Trump. She is on official government business and can thus be admitted to such a forum.
The bodyguards, press and translators were also not elected yet, they were also admitted to the various forums.
Being elected is obviously not the criteria!
Also, this article is not concerned with whether Ivanka Trump is more or less competent than her father-way off topic there.
Toasted Heretic
Oh, God.
Attilathehungry
Look on the bright side, at least Ivanka is a relatively minor functionary. Imagine how much worse it would be if, for example, someone was elected (to the Senate, perhaps) purely on the basis of being the family member of a powerful politician.
Toasted Heretic
The Kim dynastic model is bad enough, no need for a US equivalent.
Strangerland
Once again the right shows they have zero respect for the will of the America people. Saying that nepotism is preferable to someone being duly elected.
Pathetic.
Attilathehungry
The will of the people was Donald Trump being elected President. With that election, it was also the will of the people that he could select anyone he chose as his aides and appointees. And if the people don't like it, they have the opportunity to throw him out next November.
Strangerland
The right expresses their delusion again.
No, that was clearly not the will of the people.
vinarius@pm.catv.ne.jp
well, talk abt corruption.
garypen
There's still this thing called "nepotism", which applies 100% to this situation with Ivanka.
garypen
If they were elected, the basis is that they were chosen by the people they represent. (Assuming there was no cheating.)
rainyday
Yes, but we aren't concerned about them since, unless I am missing something, none of them were hired on the sole basis of being the president's daughter.
Except that she isn't playing the role of a "relatively minor functionary", she was literally taking on the role of acting head of state in that G20 summit fiasco.
If she wants to stand for election, that's a different story. You can't have your daddy appoint you to the Senate, you have to actually win an election. Its true that political dynasties like that aren't great, as the Bush family shows, but its not the same sort of nepotism as what is on display with the Trumps.
