One is reminded that, no matter how much money and privilege is involved, marriage is never easy and inevitably involves choices and sacrifices. And no matter how much two people believe things will work once married, things usually are never as one imagined it.

Many have suggest Harry should never have married Meghan or, indeed, anyone that was not British. And, of course, many have criticized Meghan, accusing her of being nothing more than a gold-digger, intent on bagging a British prince.

And yet, ultimately, they chose to get married. They certainly knew on the front end it wouldn't be easy. And yet they went through with it. No one made Harry marry Meghan. And Meghan must have known that it would be a challenge.

Perhaps Meghan appears to have fared better at this point, compared to what Harry has now had to give up. However, none of us know what Harry has been seeking for his life. He certainly could have had virtually any woman in the UK if he had wanted it. And yet he chose Meghan.

Perhaps that little boy that walked bravely behind his mother's casket all those years ago, that has lived in the shadow of his older brother, and whose life has always been defined by the royal family imagined a future for himself where he was his own man and no longer defined by being a royal and by being the brother of the future king.

One final thought. So many of us in this forum are in international marriages. We and our partners have made choices, probably choices that many in our families disagreed with or thought carried substantial risk. And, yet, we chose this course. Because of what we wanted for our lives. Perhaps Harry and Meghan are not so different.

The British press are horrible. I hope Harry and his wife leave the UK and never return.

If the Queen was in charge of Brexit, it would have been done long ago.

They made a joke of the monarchy

People said the same about Sarah Ferguson, Diana Spencer, the royal ‘It’s a Knockout’, Charles and Diana playing around while married, Charles trying to interfere in politics...

Shall we also mention Andrew’s associations with a pedophile?

I’ve got no time for any of these people but Harry and Meghan are hardly the first to fluff their lines in this pantomime.

But certain details, such as their future security arrangements...

I hope these people have the decency to let taxpayers know who is paying for this.

Best wishes for good health and peace , Harry. Canada is a friendly, low-key, beautiful country. You'll like it I'm sure.

They made a joke of the monarchy? Oh, please. A monarchy in 2020 is already a joke as it is.

Harry grew up well aware of the troubles his mother endured. He knew many in the family were openly abusive and cruel towards her. Then there was the media.

When he realized that many of the same forces were now zeroing in on his wife and his son, he knew something had to give. I respect both of them for working it through.

Who needs a royal title anyway?

I'm really tired of reading and hearing about these two lately.

Enough already.

The father's at it again. It was the half-sister the other day.

Never met a girl who had this 'dream.' Seems more like a nightmare sometimes.

Doesn't the prez have to be born in the US? Archie was born in London.

You only need to be born to an American citizen. People who are not born to American citizens must be born on US soil.

That is why women from countries like China, Japan, and other asian countries get pregnant and visit the US like Guam, Saipan or Hawaii in the last month to give birth to an American citizen. Therefore, the parents can easily apply for citizenship too. That is where the term "anchor baby" comes from. It is how racists/nationalists in the US typically describe immigrants from Latin America.

Recently, there was a Japanese woman in the news that was made to take a pregnancy test before entering the US.

it's Canada, not North America that they're going to

Canada isn't in North America??

Meghan is on record saying that she will not live in the United States as long as Trump is the president.

My guess is that they'll live in Canada for a year (or five, if the worst comes to the worst) and then move to California as soon as there is a better atmosphere there. (There's surely a reason they keep saying North America, and not Canada)

Her son is American,..... he can be President someday

The less they are on the dole, the better for the taxpayers

They want to earn their own money, let them

They're no longer representing the HRH; they want to live their own life, not the life set out to them

Abolish all monarchy like we American did, but we American have influenced on the royal, this is the second a royal has ditched the monarchy for an American, Google Wallis Simpson

I think Meghan and Harry are going to do great things for not only the UK, Canada and the world,

Oh really now. On what grounds, and with whose money?

Then what was all the 'birther' nonsense about?

Racism! McCain was born in Panama and ran for office. Romney's father was an American born in a Mormon community in Mexico. No one questioned their right to become president.

The birther movement was always about racism against black people becoming president because Pres. Obama's mother was always a white American-born citizen (both grandparents were also American-born citizens).

What a toxic parent though yeesh

We all know what Meghan wanted - everything her way.

You can't always get what you want

But if you try sometimes

Well, you might find

You get what you need

They have been disowned from the family!

All I am contending is that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex carry out their wish!

As SussexRoyal implies, i.e. they both begin a new life, fully relinquish their titles, thus allowing both the UK and Canadian tax payers relief from the financial burden of their security and travel costs.

Why is that so difficult to comprehend?

The Queen scares Meghan because Queen fears of Meghan and Harry will go to tell-all interview with Oprah if Meghan does not get what Meghan wanted. The Queen should strip off HRH title, Duke and Duchess from Prince Harry and Meghan. They should be simply called Earl and Countess like Prince Edward and Sophie. They said changed has been made, but nothing has changed. Just like a Magic show. The Queen's Megxit Magic Shows. The only thing changing was they cannot be called HRH in public because the Palace fears backlash and anger from the peoples. Harry and Meghan are officially HRH and Duke and Duchess. Now the reality was not what the British public and Commonwealth citizen’s believed. One day, Meghan will get away with Duchess Title, money, child support and expensive home. Harry will show up at the Palace door with debt and empty hands. Meghan was Tiger. Tiger never go hunting in another Tiger hunting ground. That's why Meghan moved to Canada. Canada was Meghan's play ground. Now she was night out with her friends and leaving baby Archie with nanny. Harry has to walk on the path that Meghan made for him. Harry has no other option from now on.

I'll give this marriage 2 years. Or am I being overly optimistic?

uh it's Canada, not North America that they're going to.

Buckingham Palace and the queen announced on Saturday that Harry and Meghan would not longer use their "royal highness" titles nor receive any public funding as part of a deal to end a crisis the couple sparked by announcing they wanted to reduce their duties and spend more time in North America.

This statement is false, and reveals the contempt that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have for the public. The Government is politically responsible to the tax payer and ultimately the electorate. What goes around comes around, Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be wish to remember that.

Both the The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will continue to financially leverage personal revenue from there HRH titles, a visit to their branded site SussexRoyal.com will irrefutably confirm this fact.

Also The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to receive substantial public sums for there travel and personal security. Tax payer monies that could have been prioritised for the much needed NHS and heath care for the elderly.

Nothing to worry. They will be getting that Obama Netflix deal and some Disney stuff soon enough.

Like him or not, at least the father is speaking the truth. They made a joke of the monarchy. I can't believe a single word from Meghan or Harry.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

Within the next ten years Harry will crawl back to the royal family asking to have back the titles he gave up so Meghan’s could consummate her business deal with Disney. The only question is whether or not Meghan is still a part of the family.
