This means that vaccine free Americans, a lot of whom are already minorities, will treated as lower class citizens

Yes.

-with lesser rights

No. They will still have the same rights as everyone else. They will be excluded from some of the privileges.

I think this is an excellent idea. They don't get the vaccine, I don't have to work or travel around them.

Win-win for everyone.

After a year of crap, the pandemic may deliver some unexpected benefits!

Fun Fact: You cannot attend public school without documentation of vaccination against common communicable diseases. No vaccination record? No public school

This is no different. Want to travel, or attend a large public gathering? VACCINATE YOURSELF!

If vaccination to protect yourself and the general public against a highly communicable and moderately lethal disease is too big of an imposition upon your “freedom” then you indeed fat fewer privileges, BUT YOU DID IT TO YOURSELF.

Nobody selected you discrimination, you self-selected.

Nice thing is, you can unselect by being a responsible member of an interconnected society and getting vaccinated.

Time to open up and have people accept responsibility.

The vaccine's main benefit is the prevention of hospitalization and death in COVID cases. You'd think vulnerable people would be eager to get it.

Healthy people don't really need it, but may choose to get it anyway.

Governments have done pretty much all they need to do to protect people and help them get on with their lives.

Mandates would be overly burdensome to many businesses, hampering an already difficult road ahead.

And he causes all, great and small, rich and poor to receive the mark that no one may buy or sell lest they receive the mark. Is that what you really want in the end ? Because this is just the start.

Wonderful idea, don’t want the vaccine, stay at home and stew!!!!!

This means that vaccine free Americans, a lot of whom are already minorities, will treated as lower class citizens with lesser rights, similar to how Apartheid operated in South Africa.

All they need to do is head to Florida or Texas and wait it out, they’re self sufficient States and they have pretty much everything they need, plus the food is better anyway in the South. Let freedom reign.

bass: All they need to do is head to Florida or Texas and wait it out

I support this. It should get more of the idiots out of my state.

Even the idiot liberals are moving there. I guess they love freedom as well. Welcome! Come one, come all.

You can not deny people access or force them into segregated areas.

Actually, you can. People cannot travel interstate on public transportation without a mask. People carrying firearms are denied entry into some governmental facilities.

You cannot smoke on public transportation.

These are all reasonable restrictions on individual liberty in the name of public safety. Vaccinations are no different.

But feel free to flail away in the courts system. That’d be a good giggle.

Both Texas and Florida have high rates of covid deaths.

Also Freedom and kids can go to school. So how many kids are dying? They’re not. People will continue to die and let’s not forget you have a lot of elderly people living in Florida so that affects the numbers as well. But anyway, no need to banter about this, these States are open for business and life and the Democrats can’t stop it. Kudos!

Not in Austin. must still wear masks.

The blue misguided patch in Red Texas, I believe it.

So, it’s the “elderly” living in Florida that most affects the numbers? What about Texas?

The three highest death count stares are California, Texas, and Florida, in that order. The only thing is that California has a population of nearly 40 million while Texas has less than 30 million and Florida just over 20 million. That means the per-capita death count in Texas is about 1,600/million and Florida about 1,500/million, both higher than California’s per-capita rate.

It’s true that people will eventually die, we’re all human. But when the State’s policies push it to the top of the death count those policies need changing. Or are you saying that those lives don’t matter?

Given the fact that you have more elderly living in that state, I would think so, but the fact that kids are not dying and schools are allowed to reopen that in itself is a huge accomplishment.

Yes, and that’s why I’m happy that kids are able to live. I have a lot of elderly family in both States and they’re fine and wouldn’t want to trade or be anywhere else in the country.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

It’s downright hypocritical if not stupid to pretend to care for people’s jobs when you don’t care for their lives!!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

US polls don't usually accurately reflect the true will of the people.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Sounds more like left wing America.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Strange how those who are afraid of the virus demand that they be allowed to go out and about and those who are not afraid of it be forced to stay home. This doesn't seem right.

You do realize that Texas ranks 48th on the list of States with the percent of population over 65, don’t you? Or are you deliberately ignoring facts to justify your position?

A smaller number of kids may be dying because of COVID than adults, but how many of those adults that did catch COVID were infected by the kids? I’m not sure there are any verified numbers on this but when that is one factor in the states with the highest death rate it needs to be considered. Unless, again, you just don’t feel the number of deaths is important.

Survival rate is 98% and that includes pre-existing conditions. What's the survival rate of cancer, heart disease, diseases from obesity? Much much lower. Why is tobacco, alcohol and high fructose still on the shelf? Yes...the govt cares about your health.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

It’s called an AP, BB. And you already have to produce ID to fly, drive travel internationally or attend certain functions. But thanks for the false equivalence.

If you don’t want to get vaccinated, then don’t. But don’t expect to be able to partake of re-vitalized society. That’s your choice, not the fault of overbearing government.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Why is tobacco, alcohol and high fructose still on the shelf? Yes...the govt cares about your health.

Because, while bad for health, none of these are contagious and you only expose yourself to the consequences of your decisions. That’s why.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

If everybody would just shut up, mask up and get vaccinated, then the worst of this crippling pandemic could come to an end within the next several months. However, what these dumb state governors are doing by reopening everything to full capacity without requiring people to wear masks is both counterproductive and idiotic. It's almost as if these Republican governors are sabotaging these common sense ideas with idiotic notions because they don't want Pres. Biden to succeed where former president Trump had failed.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

I'm sorry you feel offended or threatened or whatever about wearing masks and vaccines, but you are directly threatening to kill other people.

So let's see...your "feelings" vs potentially killing more people.

Tough choice. I mean, masks do get sweaty sometimes.

No. They will still have the same rights as everyone else. They will be excluded from some of the privileges

Everybody has the right to be safe and free from danger, incl. CoVid. If you don't get vaccinated, you shouldn't be admitted to events because you're endangering others. No one has that right. And religion is no excuse either, the commandment 'Do not kill' means that you don't have the right to be a danger to others.

And I ain;t going to any mass gatherings until this pandemic is over.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

To discriminate against the unvaccinated at this point is premature. Studies are being done to ascertain whether (and to what extent) a vaccinated individual can still carry and transmit the virus to others. The vaccine only promises to immunise against developing the worst possible symptoms. This is why vaccinated people are still required to wear masks.

So they poll around a thousand people—many, I assume, have vibrantly colored hair— and they say a majority of Americans. Yeah right.

It is based on sound mathematics. The idea with sampling is that it is usually impossible to ask every member of a population their opinion on a given matter. Doing so would be horrendously time consuming and costly. Instead you take a random sample of the population, the size of which is determined by how much accuracy you need. It turns out in statistics a sample size of 1000 gives you a sample mean that is 95% accurate within three standard deviations of the population mean. What does that mean?

If you repeat a trial a large number of times, say multiple random samples of the population each of 1000 people the results of those samples will follow what is called a Normal Distribution (a symmetrical curve with the peak at the mean value tapering off symmetrically in either direction from the mean value that represents the probability the results of a given sample match the results of the population as a whole). Mathematically we expect the mean of the sample to approach the population mean as sample size increases. So how big does the sample have to be to be 95% accurate? By that what I mean what is the size of the sample that has 95% of the responses within three standard deviations of the population mean? In other words if we took samples of 1000 people and were able to compare the results of the sample to what we would find if you could poll everyone in the population, 95% of the time the results of the sample will match that of the whole population. Not being able to type math symbols and show formulas I hope this is sufficient. That 1000 person sample size is not some random number but is derived from sound statistical methods. The shame is so few are willing to torture their minds with college level probability and statistics class (what I once called Sadistics, lol) to understand this stuff. Now I do it for work.

This is probably one of those situations where the desire of the majority will not be acted upon, not ignored, but it is something so inflammatory politically that it would be impossible to move forward with such an idea.

The three highest death count stares are California, Texas, and Florida,

Considering that these states are the first, second and third most populous states in the US at 39.5, 29.9 and 21.4 million residents respectively that outcome is not unexpected. Their Covid-19 death rates per 100,000 residents are California at 139, Florida at 149 and Texas at 158.

The five worst states for Covid-19 deaths per 100,000 are New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Mississippi with death rates of 268, 250, 242, 240 and 230 per 100,000 residents respectively. Texas is 24th out of the 50 states for Covid-19 deaths, Florida is 27 and California is 30 out of 50.

Those that don't study history are doomed to repeat it.

How about this, keep your nose out of what I decide to do with my body and I'll keep my nose out of your decisions.

You really want to have a world where people segregate based on who takes big pharma drugs and those who don't?

It's as if biden, the media and china want America to further divided until we are killing eachother.

And all you fools celebrating this, you do realized once you submit to the first mrna shot, you will be subject to the next hundred until your are horribly sick or dead. But you'll get to have your virtue signal, so I'm sure you won't regret it.
