And they're still trying to blame it on Democrats.

So much for the party of personal responsibility.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The Republicans are stupid if they think their strategy of blaming it on the party not in power is going to work. It didn't work for the Democrats when the Republican actually did shut down the government during the Obama era - and that's when the Republicans actually were in a position to shut down the government. The Democrats have no power at the moment, so trying to blame the party with no power for the shut down will only work with the morons.

That is to say, a significant part of Trump's base.

The most effective and humane way to end illegal immigration would be complete implementation and enforcement of the E-Verify system. Word would filter down to migrant origins that work for non-verified laborers in America is impossible to get, and migrants would stop coming.

But the Repubs have a dirty secret: the business portion of their tent loves illegal labor as it can be underpaid and abused without worry of report. So, despite having been legislatively well-developed and offered to be brought to vote many times, Repub leadership refuses to take E-Verify up. Maybe the House Dems will do it.

Let the Democrats try, since they’re inept at everything except for wanting to hold investigations and since the last shutdown didn’t do the damage they had hoped for, let’s see if they want to try a second time especially with what’s at stake.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Try a second time?

If it weren't for Democrats' non cooperation we would have the wall built already.

Democrats have as much credibility as Blasey Ford. Zero.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Democrats who are trying to prevent the wall being built are doing Trump & the Republicans a huge favour. The wall would be a huge failure, an eternal embarrassment for America and a monument to the stupidity and gullibility of Trump and his supporters.

If it weren't for Democrats' non cooperation we would have the wall built already.

And if it weren’t for the Republicans non-cooperation you’d have single payer health care. What’s your point?

Democrats have as much credibility as Blasey Ford. Zero.

The Democrats have never supported the wall in any fashion whatsoever, so not supporting it now had no bearing on their credibility whatsoever.

The Republicans on the other hand control the entire government, and even though they campaigned on building a wall, they haven’t done it. There is your hit to credibility.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Democrats who are trying to prevent the wall being built are doing Trump & the Republicans a huge favour.

The Israelis would beg to differ and I trust them over any liberal US politician or people’s opinions worldwide.

The wall would be a huge failure,

For those wanting to cross, for the most part it would be.

an eternal embarrassment for America and a monument to the stupidity and gullibility of Trump and his supporters.

I don’t think it would be an embarrassment at all, i think it would be a huge improvement for us, for them and overall security of our sovereign nation and if Mexico doesn’t get their side under control. We should shut the border down, I’m all for it. Mexico wants to deport these illegal aliens and I don’t blame them one bit. Now I know liberals are now in a bind as to how is the best way to call Mexico wanting to deport these people. Is it racist...maybe the race card won’t work this time.

...and of course you can not explain why exactly that would be the case.

remember when tricky dicky said he wasn't a crook? tweetledumb donald isn't even try to float that lie.

It’s acrually quite simple.

High initial cost, high maintenance, low effectiveness. It’s a boondoggle. Trump made it up as a lark, and so many people took him seriously that he ran with it, but he erred in making it too much his thing, and now he can’t back down from it.

It would be hard to explain to a man who quotes made up illnesses. For a start, I thought Mexico was footing the bill for this little debacle?

The Israelis would beg to differ

I could care less about the Israelis

for t-Rump "the wall" is just another property development scam that he can use to line his pockets with more taxpayers' money. he's already figured out which cheap building materials to use and which workers to stiff. those MAGA hatted suckers will still be chanting "lock her up" when he absconds with all the money in the federal reserve wired to his swiss bank accounts like every other 3rd world dictactor.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

There are many other types of healthcare besides single payer. I really wanted to keep my doctor as I was promised, you know?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

That's the exact same feeling we have about thr Dems and their opposition to the wall.

for t-Rump "the wall" is just another property development scam that he can use to line his pockets with more taxpayers' money.

Democrats have done the same with healthcare. I’m sure Schumer and Pelosi and their kin don’t live in tiny shacks.

he's already figured out which cheap building materials to use and which workers to stiff.

Knowing Trump, I doubt it, as a New Yorker, concrete is in their blood.

Knowing Trump, I doubt it, as a New Yorker, concrete is in their blood.

trump's already enlisted the barefoot, shirtless, toothless herds from his rallies. all he has to do is organize a square dance and they're all in. throw in some possum road kill & moonshine to sweeten the pot. promise to legalize incest and it'll be "yeehaw!"

4 ( +4 / -0 )

That the guy who said build a wall won the election. and no one who said single payer healthcare did.

Heh, which means your guy loses credibility for being such a poor negotiator to not even be able to get his pet project done while holding all the power, whereas no one on the left looked bad for not being able to come through with anything they had mistakenly promised.

You didn't think that one through, did you.

There are many other types of healthcare besides single payer. I really wanted to keep my doctor as I was promised, you know?

Yawn. You really want to talk statements that turned out to be false while your boy is in power? We can start a one-to-one comparison if you'd like, except that you only have one.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump doesn't want to work -- he wants to play golf and sip champagne down in warm Mar-a-Lago. His cabinet members don't want to work -- they want to pursue even more money-making. So all of them would be more than happy to have a government shutdown.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

...and of course you can not explain why exactly that would be the case.

Not to mention that about half of illegal immigrants entered the US legally and simply stayed. No wall will stop that.

El Chapo - the drug smuggler - is on trial now. His favorite way to smuggle drugs was by tunneling under existing walls.

So you build a huge wall - which the Border Patrol doesn't want, BTW, as it inhibits their view of what's going on on the other side - and then have to spend much money to maintain it, and then there's ancillary damage such as that to wildlife, blocking farmers and ranchers from water, and disrupting ages-old social networks - and you anger many people. For nothing, actually - the permanent illegal immigrant population in the US has fallen by 2 million over the last decade.

Screw the wall. Use E-Verify.

It's surprising that black would even want to point out something that only shows their outrage to have been manufactured back then.

Trump supporters are all over the place because they lack the intellectual capacity to be consistent.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Trump may think that he can continue his stupid grandstanding, but I guarantee you this: the next DOD budget enacted by the House will specifically deny funding for continuing the dog and pony show. He'd better think of some other way to gull the rubes because this is very soon coming to an end.

Probably because if Trump is indicted, then what? Mueller can’t get him out of office or even arrest him. Lol! The ONLY thing that the desperate Democrat goon squads can do are hold tedious hearings, that’s about it, other than that, he’ll be fine. But yeah, I agree with Spicer, “you can’t make this stuff up.”

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Screw the wall. Just fix the incentives to illegally cross into the USA in our laws.

Heavy fines for businesses/individuals employing anyone who doesn't pass the federal right-to-work checks. I don't expect a company to be expert at recognizing false paperwork, but I do expect them to compare photographs from the border, passport, and work authorization within reason.

Asylum requests can only be made if a legal crossing occurred.

Automatic deportation for illegally crossing.

No American citizenship to children born from parents illegally inside the USA.

If you can't work inside the USA, it isn't worth coming without a strong reason to believe either a work visa or asylum will be granted.

People suggesting that asylum seekers come to the USA need to do better about explaining the process, timeframes and fees involved. Sure, filing for asylum is free, but filing to work inside the USA legally has a $410+ fee and can only be done after 150 days (5 months) inside the USA.

We need a clearer guest worker program in the USA. There are a number of these programs currently which are used by some industries. Some are highly abused, like the H1-b visa program, but others for long term ranch work don't appear to be abused nearly as much.

Fix the laws.

That’s what they said about Nixon. You know, they guy who had to quit.

Yeah, Trump is from Queens, they don’t quit anything.

Screw the wall. Just fix the incentives to illegally cross into the USA in our laws.

That won’t work, it’s California, that would never happen. 47 Dems and 9 Repubs, you can forget that.

Heavy fines for businesses/individuals employing anyone who doesn't pass the federal right-to-work checks. I don't expect a company to be expert at recognizing false paperwork, but I do expect them to compare photographs from the border, passport, and work authorization within reason.

Uh-huh....yawn, tried that as well.

Asylum requests can only be made if a legal crossing occurred.

Automatic deportation for illegally crossing.

No American citizenship to children born from parents illegally inside the USA.

Great, add the wall to that, with the threat of 10-20 years incarceration if caught illegally crossing, I think these incentives would help.

We need a clearer guest worker program in the USA.

But more importantly, we need to train more Americans and make sure they are filled first by Americans.

There are a number of these programs currently which are used by some industries. Some are highly abused, like the H1-b visa program, but others for long term ranch work don't appear to be abused nearly as much.

Fix the laws.

Again Yes, I agree, but I want to see them get rid of the H1-B Visa program at least until all jobs are filled by Americans that

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Where exactly do walls stop visa overstayers, and how exactly do those walls do that?

Notice how this posters words are evolving over the past several months;

Trump and his administration are innocent...

Trump, Ivanka, Jared, Don Jr and Eric are innocent...

Trump is innocent....

So he'll be indicted, he won't be impeached...

Next month - so he's been impeached, he still has The Apprentice....

The parallels to Nixon are amazing - and that includes the forthcoming outcome....

Unless it's at a Trump resort. Then, cheaper foreigners come first. But don't worry, he's the right man for making other people choose Americans first. Just not....himself.

Do what you were meant to do and cheer Trump for it.

Serrano: If it weren't for Democrats' non cooperation we would have the wall built already.

We'd have comprehensive immigration reform in place right now, including funding for increased border security, if it weren't for fringe GOP members killing bipartisan bills that had the votes to pass both the House and Senate.

As for Trump, he did give it the old college try. He asked the Mexicans to pay for it, and they said no. He asked Republicans to pay for it, and they said no. He asked Democrats to pay for it, and they said no.

He did his best, but he failed. If you want a wall then maybe you should have chosen a different president. This one isn't getting the job done for you and he's run out of people to beg.

Hey, when the man is right, he’s right.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Changed my mind. Maybe the federal government should pay for the Wall. A prepayment with the expectation that Mexico will reimburse the US. The Trump organization can serve as collateral in the off chance Mexico doesn’t.

That's precisely what the records show. Check out the number of imported foreigners working at Trump's resort in Florida.
