Does anyone else think it seems just a little bit strange that Trump cancels the Repub Convention because having all those people in one large location is too dangerous....

But sending your children back to school is OK....

Nobody here seems to give a rat's behind about mothers who have to work to support their families. Instead they have to stay home watching over their child because it is state law in many states that children under 12 cannot be left home alone. Since schools have restarted in Japan, how many elementary school clusters have you heard about? This is in tiny classrooms with 30-40 students. U.S. classrooms have a lot of space and students don't sit together like they do in Japan.

The U.S. government has missed the boat, and the virus now has the upper hand.

Hopefully other countries will learn from America's goofed up follies and not repeat the same mistakes. And these covid parties? Dumb, dumb, dumb. How dumb can you be??

For some of us parents the great fear is our kids bringing it home to us. From first hand experience, schools are like petri dishes for incubating colds and the flu. As soon as one of your kids has it, everyone in the household has it. Colds are bad enough but if our kid brings back Covid-19 and we become incapacitate by it, it is more than just a minor problem. Sure the kids might not suffer greatly from it, unless they also contract that horrible inflammatory condition. But what about the parents of these kids who bring this disease home and infect them? I want our kiddo in class too, but it scares the living daylights out of me that he could bring it home and infect my wife and I. We are older and will suffer greatly. This administration has no empathy for the hard decisions parents are being forced to make.

Trump supporters who for years have railed against the "Liberal" education provided in our public schools by the "Socialist" teachers belonging to the National Education Association....

But when the only hope for Trump's re-election is to try to get the black hole economy turned around, now sending kids to school is "critical" and by not sending them they'll be "educationally disadvantaged"....

What they fail to understand (or just ignore), is that every parent would rather have an educationally disadvantaged child at home, rather than one lying in the ICU....

Kids need to go back to school. The CDC has released a plan for that to happen safely. It is definitely an election issue for parents where if Trump can reopen safely he will be praised by parents and teachers alike.

Parents and teachers know best and in consultation with local education authorities about the risk of infection for children, teachers, staff and parents they should decide when to open schools, not a president who gets tested daily within his WH bubble, cancels events out of fear of infection and who has never given the slightest attention to education matters.
