They really should have said it will take months to tame. Weeks is much to unrealistic.

They could always solve it quicker just follow the Japanese example. Do next to no. testing so that fewer cases are found and then do absolutely nothing except open up more. They could even open all the borders between the states and have a Go to travel campaign .

Interestingly though even with the minimal testing in Japan compared to Australia's ( around 10 times more per day than Japan, 70,000 compared to 7,000) Japan is still finding MORE cases daily than Australia. And yet Australia had the problem!

Can ‘Melbourne’ be used rather than going to the extent of ‘Australia's second-biggest city’ each time?

Australia has as an insular country at the bottom of the world decided against all scientific reasoning they have a problem.

Japan has sensibly decided that they don't.

Especially with all the bogans who refuse to wear masks and would love to have trump be their lord and savior.

Australia will extend its coronavirus loan guarantee scheme for small businesses and increase the credit limit to up to A$1 million ($700,000) from A$250,000, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said on Monday.

What a big contrast with the 3rd largest economy.

The difference is clear, one is out to help, the other is pretending to help.

Except the ‘bogans’ are NOT the ones who’re implicated in the cluster outbreaks. Instead, it’s those with at most one generation of Australian antecedents who constitute the overwhelming majority of cases and who are the best retort to the cockeyed optimism of the kumbaya crowd.

Good luck to Australia. They already attempted to eradicate the virus with lockdowns and look where they are now. Time to accept the truth that the virus is here to stay.

I don’t think they’ve claimed it’s not. Who are you speaking of that needs to accept this?

Australia never try to eradicate or eliminate covid-19. Their lockdown was not as hard as in some other countries. Their policies is to suppress it.
