Sadly, this true. The world would not bat an eye if the CCP were to force this through.

Good for them!

If you become like that...

Foreign investors in a capitalist economy will withdraw funds and escape from Hong Kong and Beijing stock exchanges. China's financial markets will temporarily cool.

Have a referendum like Scotland. Declare secession and see how far that’ll get you.

Power to the people! Let's see if the anti-democracy HK police can hold back a million-man army of freedom-lovers! Stick it to Commie Carrie Lam and the PRC! Full independence and democracy for HK NOW!

Hong Kong people and especially the young ones are admirable.

They are under massive Big Brother threat but still dare to confront democracy vs. dictatorship.

Hats off!

The world over abandons support of real democracy for a $4 hair dryer

We didn't need to enable China and it's high time to withdraw that support

Just landed today in HK at 11:00 AM from business trip as a resident. 20 immigrations officers checking us at the plane door. Never ever have experience that. Can be coincidence with a suspect in the plane too. Still polite but they were clearly on the attack mode.

The CCP, having learned its lessons from the run-up to Tiananmen Square Massacre and the fall of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, will brook no dissent. None.

They are ruthless in their goals to preserve power and control and will NEVER allow anyone or anything disturb that, no matter how seemingly small.

They will send countless Muslims off to reeducation camps. They will pursue Falun Gong members to the ends of the earth. They will crush house churches and imprison and torture their pastors. They will abduct bookstore owners from Hong Kong. They will send human rights activists to prison for the slightest offense. They will torture and kill thousands upon thousands.

All to preserve power. They will grant their citizens freedom to pursue economic wealth, but the quid pro quo is that the people can never ever ever challenge the supremacy of the CCP.

Make no mistake, while this bill in HK may be shelved for now, all it would have done was provided a "legal" framework for the Chinese government to get those it wanted from HK to mainland China in a rubber stamp manner.

Even with it shelved, if there are people in HK that the Chinese government wants tried or executed in the mainland, they will just disappear them in the middle of the night. As they have already done in the past.

@ zones2surf - youre post is very scary because it's all true. I hope all the HK protestors fighting for democracy are wearing face mask and sunglasses. Because if the cameras of the world aren't around, HK government will identify every protestor, capture and torture them.

Stand up to the ruthless HK police and communist puppet regime! The world is behind you!
