There should be mass testing. Johnson promises this but always fails to deliver. Consequently we have the unacceptable scenario of health care staff, carers, teachers and other key staff unable to go to work as they have symptoms or have been in contact with COVID but cannot get tested. So it’s 10 days quarantine, over and over again.

Spurious and miss reported figures. Firstly due to a technical fault some cases from during the week were not reported and have been included in the Saturday figures. Second, they carried out about 265000 tests the previous day which is the highest figure so far and as everyone on this site keeps pointing out in relation to Japan’s low figures, the mort you test the more you find. Thirdly as the testing figures are progressively increasing to mearly compare the number of cases per day is intrinsically flawed an doesn’t give you any real idea of the progress of the disease, better (but the media doesn’t bother) to give the number of cases found as a percentage of tests carried out which would be comparable day to day and across the period of the pandemic.

Non of which denies that there is an increasing trend of infection, as there is across Europe and as was predictable with the easing of restrictions but the sloppy reporting fails to tell the degree of increase or show it relative to the initial exponential spike.

Blame Bojo and his incompetent government for failing to control the deadly pandemic. Britain still has the highest death toll in Europe. With Brexit looming Britain is in deep trouble. A bankrupt country with high unemployment and poverty rate. It will become the poor man of Europe soon.

we understand it better and treatments have improved. All we see in the sensationalist headlines now are "cases", which simply reflect the increased number of testing.

Deaths are also rising in the UK.

The virus is winning ground in most countries worldwide. Stop their advance, now or never..

Yes, it does. It runs its course, as every virus does. At the same time, the death rates are flat, as we understand it better and treatments have improved. All we see in the sensationalist headlines now are "cases", which simply reflect the increased number of testing. So it is now only the media and politicians which keep up the panic.

Whether the Covid infection has reached its highest level or not, some British are still adamant against the restrictions imposed.

Apparently, shortage of testing capacity remains a concern, but that should not be an excuse for not following government's new more stringent rules.

Covid's cutting a deadly swathe through the country is the inevitable and predictable outcome for entrusting the welfare of the British people to a corrupt party of bunglers, incompetent privileged spivs whose only raison d'etre has been to rule over the many to give to the few.
